Today’s post is all about the play kitchen center made from a nightstand and some scrap lumber.
It’s finally finished! Well, I guess there are a few more things that could be added, but I am d.o.n.e. The day I started this, I intended it to be a “quickie” project. Something simple like the other nightstand kitchens I’ve seen on blogs and pinterest. Wrong!
So, after several weeks, without further ado…. here she is:
You can see the accessories in this picture. The box (bread box?) is on top of the fridge. A shelf is hung on the back splash. The utensils are hung up using a curtain rod. I purchased a set of dishes & pots/pans from Toys R Us.
The components of the center-The fridge is an old kitchen cabinet. The Stove is a nightstand. The right hand shelf is an old drawer. The skirting is from an old foot board. I made the backsplash and or top shelf from some scrap bead board and pine. The counter top is a scrap piece of plywood with Giani Granite Countertop Paint on it. (leftover from when I painted my own countertops. The sink is a pet bowl. The faucet is from the ReStore.
I have to admit, I’m loving the beadboard backsplash!
Did you notice I painted the inside of the faucet knobs to match?
As you can see I opted to put the knobs on the front. Doing it this way allows more counter space.
The fridge (a repurposed kitchen cabinet). The top being the freezer and the bottom is the fridge.

I thought this would be a quickie project—the first post is dated July 3. 1 month later, the repurposed nightstand into a cute (gender neutral) kitchen center is done! I even made a point not to buy pink or purple dishes. I want this to be a kitchen center that “make believe” dads can use too.

Oh wow!
This is wonderful. What a way to spark the imagination.
This would be adorable in a Church Nursery or Sunday School class...as a kitchen center!
Or...in a play house. Either way...some very fortunate and lucky kids are going to get to play with/ IN this kitchen.
I say IN...because it is so grand. 🙂

This turned out SO well. I'm always curious to see how people build their own play kitchens. You can be so creative with it!
Also--digging the beadboard backsplash. We're thinking of doing that in our regular kitchen.
Maxine
Can you hear it?? the deafening applause!!!

OMG...you REALLY rocked this one, Girlie! You put all other "play kitchens" to shame...including mine, lol! This is some serious cuteness, but of course I am not surprised at all. Are you selling this or did you make if for someone...I don't remember you saying.
