It’s been awhile since I’ve featured a repurposed headboard into a bench. Cathy and I made this twin sleigh bed into two benches. You might also want to check out my headboard bench tutorial.
You can see how the detail on the top of the headboard mimics the detail in the front legs.
For the front legs on this one I traced the outline of the legs on the foot board, and cut them with the jig saw.

Hello Gail. I am wondering if there is perhaps a standard depth of the bench seat when you make from a headboard/footboard and it's a queens size? Twin is easy but Queen I think perhaps there might be a perferred seat depth. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jan

Some people still just cut the foot board in half, but I think it's way too deep that way.
All of mine get the same standard seat depth. (18-19")
have fun!

I don't often say "WOW" out loud when on the web but, I did when I say these. These benches are so wonderful. I am going to be on the look out for the perfect bed now. I have to have one of these.

They look great! I love the legs on them. I think I like the legs better on the outside. You can see them better and all the wonderful details.

Great job on all the benches Gail. I really like the sleigh bed one, love the way you did the legs on that one.
I really want to try one of these some day... first I have to find a spot to put it, that may take a while...lol
Have a great day Gail.

Great job on the benches. I especially like the one made from the tall headboard. I like the legs on it better than the blue one. It brings out the detail in the legs.
One thing about taking a bench is that it makes a great place to display small items. Especially if you are short on counter/display space.
