I loaded my car Friday night so I could leave early Saturday morning. The vehicle was so full, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fit anything in it at the first stop.
We started at Peddler’s Mall, and from there we went to lunch at Logan’s. I took very few pictures because I was busy chatting and getting to know my new friends.

I believe everyone had a great time! It was a beautiful day, and I had a blast making new friends!
Wanna see what I picked up?
Not a lot, but so happy with the finds!
Check out this great antique fireman’s bucket. Why oh WHY do people write the price ON the item with a sharpie? Any suggestions on how to get this off?
Hollie spied this and brought it to my attention. It was a $1 over my $5 limit, but most of the work was already done. Someone had already sprayed it with chalkboard paint, so all I need to do is paint the frame.
Oops! They spray painted the mirror, which broke somewhere along the way.
In the posts leading up to Spring Fling I showed you some pictures from Salvation Army. They had a ton of boxes for .25 each. I picked up these small shallow boxes to hold my small Mr. & Mrs. signs for my upcoming show over Memorial Day weekend.
They also had these boxes that are perfect to hold my longer Bride & Groom signs.
I got a great deal on this contact paper for use as stenciling material for my Etsy signs.
I picked up a couple more cupboard doors for chalkboards. This one is laying on the boxes, so it is sort of confusing to look at.
This one is larger and it’s nice and sturdy.
Last, but not least I got these buckets. I’m hoping to use these and the fireman’s bucket to display my signs that are on stakes. I plan to give the buckets a vintage finish like Suzanne of Meridian Road did.
Hollie wrote a great post with fabulous pictures from the day, check out her post: Spring Fling Meetup
I so wish that my out of town friends could have joined in the fun. I have extra swag, so I’m giving one lucky reader a swag bag of their very own! One winner will get a fabulous tote bag from Hometalk.com, a Water Filter System from Filtrete, and some Gorilla Glue Products. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. Giveaway starts today and ends Sunday, April 21, 2013. Winner must be 18, and located in the good ole USA. Void where prohibited by law, and not available to my friends in Hawaii and Alaska. disclaimer: I was not paid for this post, nor was I paid to host this Spring Fling. Thank you to all the sponsors who supplied the loot for this fun day!
Looks like everyone had a great time. I should’ve signed up. Maybe next time. Love your blog.
It was so much fun to hang out with others who love what we do! I wish you had signed up too….I think I may make this a yearly event. 🙂
thanks for your kind words about my blog.

I would have loved to met up…but I already had a commitment that weekend. It is always great going on a treasure hunt with “like minded” people. Those that can see something for what it could be, instead of what it is!
I would have loved to along to meet the Crowd! I love to meet people who have the vision (and sometimes, the nerve) to re-purpose !
How awesome to be able to spend time with others who have the drive and desire to create! Hope to join in one day but until then I’m on this blog living vicariously through your blogs. Your so talented and love the foresight your possess for many of your projects. Obsessed with the chalkboards and constantly buying old frames and cabinet doors for that. My son is in construction and I often dumpster dive at his house, after he alerts me to the hidden treasures! Keep blogging
Thank you so much for the kind comment Lori! One can never have too many chalkboards!
have fun!

Hi there, Gail. Bummer the chalkboard mirror broke before you got it home! I saw that you went back and got those tables from the shop in Jeffersonville. Hey, I used my Fish Foam on a glass shelf and a couple windows today, and it really is amazing. I could not believe there were no streaks at all. I’m a convert!
Looks like a ton of fun and a ton of work. Can’t wait to attend the Arizona event. I will melt in the hot!!!
Good times! What a great idea Gail. And all the work you put into such a special day. Would love to attend one down the road. I’m sure a lot of us work and create alone in our studios and workshops. So an opportunity to get together with other creative, like minded people is wonderful 🙂 Carlotta from Ohio
This looks like so much fun! I wish I lived near you! Next time you do this, I may have to plan our vacation around it so I can participate too! I love treasure hunting!
Wish I could find some sort of blogging get together or group in my area just so I can meet others who like/do the same thing and make new friends (that’s always the best part) -Meg:)
I would love to meet up with like minded bloggers/DIYers/and all around great folk!
Looks like everyone had a grand time. Thanks for the chance to win.
Oh how I wish I could have tagged along on that thrifty day! So fun….combine thrift shopping and meeting blog friends! Can;t get much better than that! Thanks for sharing with us…:)
Blessings, Vicky

Such an awesome event! It looks like everyone had fun! I would have loved to come and meet people and visit!
Thanks for the giveaway Gail!
Looks like fun! I bet so many great ideas were shared.
Oh Gail, that sounds like it was such a fun day! And all that great loot is frosting on the cake. I can’t even believe someone wrote on my fave of your finds -your new bucket-with a sharpie!
Goo Gone usually works great on sharpie, but not sure what it will do to your finish. I’ve used it a number of times with great success.
Lots of fun loot.
Thanks for the chance.
Looks like a great junkin adventure. Finding great new friends & great junk.
Looks like a wonderful time, Gail!! I wish I could have come just to hang out with you. 🙂
I wish I had been able to come along and meet y’all. It looks like a great time was had by everyone. I would have loved to pick up some of your tips on thrifing too. It would have been a blast to meet new friends too!
If you can’t get the sharpie off, maybe cover it to look like the rest of the pail?
Bliss
Looks like a fun time! Wish I was closer & could join something like this!
I would have loved to come. In fact, I was in Louisville this weekend and went to two Peddler’s Malls and Dixie Trading Post. Love to thrift in Louisville!
i wish i was there cause it looks like so much fun
Wow that looks like you all had a great time! I can’t believe they wrote on that bucket, I have no clue on how you would get it off. Great idea on the buckets to hold your signs, that’s going to look really cute.
How fun! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Looks awesome!
Wish I had been able to be there…it looks like it was sooooo much fun! Would love to be able to meet and get to know other people who enjoy the same things I do!
I wish I could have done the Spring Fling with you because it looks like so much fun!
It looks like so much fun! I wish I could have come…I would love to meet YOU, and I would have also loved to win a HomeRight paint sprayer 😉
Just being with good friends.
Looks great… Wish I was closer!!
Wish I lived closer!!!
We had the best time Gail! Thanks to the sponsors for all the swag! and thank YOU for hosting us!
Looks like you had a great day. My only question is what is this “spring” you’re talking about? Nothing but snow and freezing rain here in Wisconsin for the past week!
I SO wish I could have come with you guys, but maybe I can feel part of it by winning your extra swag.
Looks like a good time was had by all, Gail.
I wish I lived closer.
I would’ve loved to be out thriftiness with you.
Great finds.
Try rubbing alcohol to get the sharpie off.
Thanks for the giveaway chance.
Wish I could have been there! (Too bad we’re in way South Texas!) I love all your creative projects!
Oh my, it looks like you had a ton of fun! Would have loved to join.
I would have loved to have been at this event to go shopping with like-minded people. I usually have my 13-year-old son as a shopping buddy and he has the attention span of a … well,… a 13-year-old boy.
Looks like fun! Also, I go thrift-storing a lot and places do tend to write directly on the item (keeps people from tag switching, I guess). I’ve always had luck with vinegar/water combinations for removing it.
Pea green with envy…looks and sounds like so much FUN!
How fun! And I’m so jealous!
Love all the great prizes Gail!
Susan
Gail,
It looks like it was a ton of fun! Try using a Magic Eraser to get that Sharpie off – I’ve had success getting permanent marker off things with it before.
Looks like great fun. You can remove the texta/sharpie price with eucalyptus oil. Just smear it on with a cloth and wipe off. It also removes labels, great stuff to have in the home. I presume a sharpie is a marker or what we call texta and it works on these. 🙂
