Welcome to episode #20 of DIY with MRL! In this episode I ask, are you ready to paint your kitchen cabinets. Yep, put down the power tools and pick up the paint brush.
I only have one kitchen, but I have painted three sets of cabinets. Each experience was different.
You can see the post How To Paint Oak Cabinets for details and tips.
How to Update Cabinets will give you ideas if you’re looking to add some definition to your flat panel cabinet doors.
I want to thank everyone who listened last week, and left such sweet comments about “my story”. I appreciate your support and your kindness.

Thank you for the details of painting cabinets. I am still scared after a year of contemplating. Sooooo much prep work.
I will paint the back of the cabinets, but not the inside of the cabinets. I think that would wear horribly.
I also have a frame around my cabinets and drawers that need some fixing. They have come loose on some of them. I was wondering if I caulk or use wood fill?
I like the schedule of your e-mails just the way you send them.
Dee,
It is a lot of prep work, but you can take it as fast as slow as you want. It is YOUR kitchen. 🙂
If there are loose areas, I would definitely use wood glue and some sort of clamp as opposed to just filling with filler. They will continue to get looser as time goes on.
Thanks for the feedback about the email updates.
good luck!
