I LOVE easy peasy chalkboard signs! I painted some 1×4’s with chalkboard paint. Then I designed my days until sign vinyl in my Silhouette program. I love it when I can use the negative AND the positive from a vinyl piece.
I placed the vinyl cutout (which is actually contact paper in this case) on the painted board. I did a light coat of chalkboard paint over the entire surface so that there would not be any bleed.
Then I painted on a coat of blue.
On another one I painted on a coat of Martha’s Heavy Cream.
After I peel of the contact paper, this is what is left.
I believe this one is the actual vinyl (contact paper) not the paint. It’s difficult to tell in the picture. I think I like the ones that are painted versus the ones with the vinyl. How about you? Which would YOU prefer? I’ve been so busy trying to get ready for Glendale.
