I’ve showed you a lot of projects lately that have not been finished. Maybe my brain is too overworked, or off base, I’m not really sure. I tend to take my time unless something just comes to me.
I showed you how I made the vinyl for this sign yesterday.
Remember this font? I think it is so cool! Deb mentioned about how hard it may have been to take out all of the little “bits”. It really wasn’t difficult. The Silhouette too care of most of it. What didn’t get pulverized by the Silhouette, I used some Scotch Blue Painter’s tape to “grab” the bits that were left behind.
As you saw yesterday, I used some twine to hold the sign.
If you like this small porch post, you can check out the tutorial.
I got out my photo holder wire and replaced the twine.
I like the black wire with the black knob.
The other side is a little friendlier.
I love the color, and I have placed this on my driveway right by the gate.
Now for another update. I know you may be sick of seeing this display stand. (no, I STILL haven’t painted the applique)
I finally figured out how to hold photos/menus, etc.
A close up.
I love these spiral wires!
Suzanne @ Meridian Road suggested that I use a spiral glued to a thumbtack. I stopped at Staples today to see if I could find anything to use. I found nothing! But as soon as I left, I had one of those AHA moments! That seems to be happening a lot lately. While I had the wire out for the little red sign, I got to work.
I had this piece left over from one of these display stands. It was a chair part. I drilled a small hole in order to “hold” the wire while I spiral it.
I pulled it off of the spool and left that little tip.
I then put that little tip into a very small hole I drilled in the display stand.
You can see here how it is in the hole of a scrap piece of wood. Putting it in the hole allows me to flatten it.
This wire is very dirty, and I forgot to wash it before I put it on this stand, that’s the dirt you see. At this time I only have it pushed into the hole. It’s a pretty tight fit. However, I’m probably going to use some Gorilla Glue Super Glue to hold it permanently.
What do you think? Do you like my “spin” on this? Do you like the wire holder on the little red sign?
I just tweeted that my google reader was cleared out when I went to bed Tuesday night, 22 hours later there are 292 items waiting on me. I suppose I better go see what my friends are up to!
oops, I almost forgot my green! I don’t want to get pinched!
Just to make sure I don’t get pinched, look what I’m going to be working on soon for a local reader (lurker) You don’t know her.
