Warning! Long (ugly) post ahead. My only resolution for 2011 is to get organized. It’s just one resolution, but it may take me all year. And when (if) I blog about it all, you may think I belong on Hoarders!
If you have been following my blog, you know I did a makeover on my bedroom last summer. Ever since then I’ve been meaning to get to the closet. Better late than never? It’s time to gitter done! I’m tickled pink that it is finished!
Years ago, a closet system was added all the way across one wall of my bedroom. Please excuse the dreaded mirrored doors. (They’re on my list). On the right you see and upper and lower rod system and a shelf /drawer system. The left side looks just the same. The middle section is an upper and lower rod system. One closet, that equals 5 closets?
See, three mirrored doors! Ideas anyone?
This is the middle section, you can see the drawer systems on either side.
Anyone who knows me very well, can tell you that I am terrible about closing drawers! See the safe? Nothing it it. It isn’t even locked!
This is the left section, that is used the most.
The floor of the left section holds my iron. It’s too tall to fit on any of the shelves.
You might be thinking to yourself-“I bet she just got in there and messed it up so the after would look better”. Yeah, let’s go with that!
Open drawers make a great place to hang clothes!
Have you seen enough?
I started at 1:00 pm
I know that I should gut not shuffle (funky junk interiors) Donna did an entire post on that. But since this is essentially 5 closets, I sort of took it one closet at a time. I started with the top (middle).
Now the bottom of the middle. I gutted it.
When I went to hang up my work shirts, they hung too low. DUH! I realized I should raise the rod!
Looky there! So much better. If you scroll up to see the before of this section, you’ll notice that they work clothes were not hung, but laid over the rod.
Bottom left gutted.
uh oh! I’m getting quite a pile here! Note the black clogs. I was talking to jamie on the phone during this process, here’s the convo:
me: how many pairs of black clogs does one need?
jamie: um, er none?
Gotta love that girl!
The bed was getting pile up too!
Why does it always have to get worse before it gets better?
I had this afghan (made by my mom) up in the top of the closet in a garbage bag. I found the packaging that my new quilt came in and now the afghan has a nice storage home.
These are for donation. I folded them so that I could put them in a garbage bag easily.
Left side after. The bottle of water is for my iron.
Middle section after.
Right section after.
ugh! Some clothes that need freshening up. This pile is for the laundry. Do you think I wear too much gray?
Four hours later, and I wasn’t even finished. I did the right side the next day. It didn’t take too long.
However, it did take awhile to see the floor and the bed again.
There you have it. More closet than 1 person needs. I hope that it never looks like it did ever again. Did you make any resolutions? Is all this talk about decluttering and organizing giving YOU the itch to do something about it? C’mon, it can’t be worse than this.
Next stop a bathroom closet that is too large for 1 person (and looks just as bad). I’m glad there are several linky parties just for this type of blog post. I needed something to get me motivated. I’m linking to the parties below.
