Oh my! It’s been so hot here, and it looks like there’s no end in sight. I haven’t been to a single yard sale this year. But, we have so many of those “junk” malls that it’s a good way to kill some time and keep cool. I went to the White Elephant over the weekend looking for my next great project. I didn’t find any furniture pieces, but I did find some things that I thought I might be useful for staging my projects.
I got some really good deals on these glass items. The tall green vase was only .25 cents. The shorter green bowl was 1.95, and the white (milk glass?) vase was $1.50.
This wooden pedestal plate was 2.00
I’m not sure if I’ll leave it alone, or paint it. What would you do?
My neighbors dropped off this Singer treadle machine. It’s in pretty rough shape.
Even the machine seems to have been stripped of everything for some reason.
The front is a little different than anything I’ve seen. It’s actually a small pull out drawer, instead of one of those flip down fronts. It’s also more ornate than the last sewing machine I repurposed into a vanity.
These little tables showed up on my patio one day. I think they are screaming for some new paint—I can do that in the basement shop.
Have you been to any yard sales lately? Found any good stuff? Do Tell!

No. not a one!
I love those two little tables…
LOVE the green glass…I collect green glass it is definitely my favorite. Those little tables are great as well…can’t wait to see them all painted up!
i found a 8″ wooden round standing display thing (????) that i am going to turn into a dresser top bracelet holder. not sure exactly what this thing is but it was 50 cents. i also found a vintage Mccoy pottery planter for $2.00 that i am going to plant my succulent in. i have only been to a few yard sales, find most of my finds at the thrift stores. love your little tables; can’t wait to see what color they end up!
Coveting those little tables!!! I love a table with a lip. I have a couple of items to spray paint, but I really want it to rain. My garden is suffering (2 weeks of 90+ heat and no discernible rain = very unhappy hydrangeas!) If it’s sunny, I will spray paint (a metal rolling cart and a wooden planter). If it’s raining, I will sew a few table runners for my booth.
Kirby,
That sounds like a good plan for indoor and outdoor chores. We were pretty dry, but then had a good deal of rain, so we’re good. My hydrangeas were NOT happy during that dry time either. 🙁
Now, we just have HEAT.
Hoping you get some good rain soon!

Actually Friday, managed to get out even with our heat (which is much the same as yours right now). I got a vintage Cobalt blue Murano Genie bottle decanter for 50 cents, a vintage bent willow magazine rack for 3.00 and a vanity bench for 5.00. I am painting the bench tonight and reupholstering the seat to go in the booth a friend of mine and I have. At a Church sale I found a small wooden wall rack with pegs for coats for 50 cents, 2 vintage designer scarves for 25 cents each and a new 3-way lamp kit with harp and cord for 75 cents and a new glass top specimen display case for 1.50. all in all one of the best yard sale days i have had in a long time. everything will be up for sale except maybe the specimen display box, I think my old bakelite buttons need to be displayed in it. Hoping the heat breaks soon. nearly 93 predicted later today. stay hydrated!!
Denise,
GREAT finds and good deals! You did great!
Our heat index (we have so much humidity) will be in triple digits this week. Just miserable.
I hope you get a cool spell soon. I’m looking forward to some cooler temps this coming weekend.
