Prepare yourself, this is ugly! If you are squeamish you may just want to look at the pictures, and skip the video.
my garage “before”
This is about 2 hours into “gutting” the garage.
Same corner after a couple more hours. (that blue piece of foam is to keep Louie in the back yard)
As gutted as it gets! Looks pretty good eh?
Until I open the door! The view is of course from the driveway end looking into the back yard.
This view—looking from the back yard. Not bad?
Again, till I open the door! Look at ALL THAT STUFF!

um, I mean “treasures”.
My frames stored all neat and tidy!
Below the frames you’ll find my stash of cleaning products. Sometimes Cathy and I clean houses. We used to keep the stuff at her house, but she lives a little out of the way. With it at my house, she comes over and we can load it together.
I’ve had this bench for about a year and a half. It was holding the two white cabinets in the video and before pics. I removed the top . . .
and turned it upside down to help corral my lumber.
Not to much lumber… but as I continued to bring it in from the back yard, it seemed to grow
Do you see my attempt at the extension cord trick? Thanks to Donna for being my inspiration to tackle this huge job!
The view looking from the backyard. Still 2 paths, but because I have so much stuff, I prefer to have the center aisle hold my power tools.
View from the driveway. Right in front of the half sheet of white bead board is a “cut through” that allows me to move across the garage without going all the way from end to end.
This is one of my “recent finds” in my own garage. 🙂 What am I going to do with it you ask? I have no idea.
Another find, an old mailbox.
This is the ammo box and the wagon there were not visible in the “before” video.
The garage and the shed are still a work in progress. I don’t dare show you pictures of the shed. It holds all my “future” projects. It is pretty much piled to the ceiling. That means that I can’t bring anything else home until I move some stuff out!
Thanks for hanging in there till the end.
have a great week! The weather here is supposed to be great! I hope to organize a little more and get some projects done.
gail
ps Happy Belated anniversary to Cathy and her husband Larry… more years than I can count!
Wow. That’s a lot of stuff!
I have an XL-7 too. It’s my 2nd baby.
I have just have to tell you that yours could possibly be my favorite blog to read, (and I read quite a few!) You just always have the most wonderful posts! I LOVE your garage! So many wonderful goodies, great job organizing that beautiful mess : )
Gail, when did you get into my garage and take pictures? LOL! Great job, how many people stopped to see if you were having a garage sale?
It looks great! You have so much great stuff to work with!! I’ll help you with “stuff control” if you need me to hear south! ha 🙂
That looks great. Mine is a replica of your before. It is time to get busy. I just got a bunch of pegboard from my mom so now it is time to start organziing. Thanks for the inspiration.
Looks 100% better but I kept perusing all the cool looking stuff you’ve got in there! lol I think we may tackle our garage tomorrow (or should I say it will tackle us). If you never hear from me again…send in the search parties! Great organizing job!!!
Wowsers Gail! I’m impressed with all your stuff, even when it’s unorganized 🙂 It is always better when it is organized, though, so you can then focus your energy on projects to tackle!
Wow, I could turn you into Oprah! Just kidding, I think mine’s worse! 🙂
I do have to say, I like that chair sitting on top of the table and your bench you used to contain the lumber. Good stuff!
Really?! I didn’t see any mess to begin with. All I saw were goodies on top of goodies!! Lol.
WOWSA…doesn’t it feel great to have that done. My garage always becomes a pit over the long winter. Now that the weather is nice, we’ve been chipping away at the mess, a bit here and a bit there.
Blessings!
Gail
Way to go on your organization! Bet that feels nice to go in there now. And your projects? I can see a bunch and I’m so jealous! 🙂
You do have a lot of stuff, but you’ve got a good start on organizing it all. Trust me, your garage looks 10x better than mine.
Nancy
It looks great!! 🙂 Nice work taking on such an overwhelming task!!
Great inspiration for my shed clean-up in April (which I’ll post something about on 1 April).
I used to have a chair like your pink-ish one (except mine was green). It split badly and was beyond repair but I still have its foot stool.
And here I thought my craft/painting/computer room looked like it was flowing over! Now I am not so sure I need a garage, I would just fill it up!
Wow. You really went to town on that garage project. Congrats. I’m constantly struggling with space issues — it sometimes keeps me from making more projects. Glad you tackled that one, it looks great and you must be so pleased.

Oh, that industrial bench was SO cool as is. I hope someday you can bring it back to its old self — of course that would mean finding a new home for the lumber (or making a lot of stuff).
Oh man, I’m so jealous of your garage!!! Two entries, and beams overhead, wow, I would love to have all that room!! Haha, I loved the before pics and adorable video – it made me want to play “I Spy” and find a cool piece, then say what I would do with it! Oh, but nothing beats finding thrifting treasures – IN YOUR OWN GARAGE. I think that was the winner right there! You did such a great job gutting and cleaning – it looks fabulous. Oh, and that lumber pile? To die for!! Arghhhh!
Wow, look at all the treasures you have. Looks great!
We don’t need to go thrifting! Just let me meander thru your stuff and I will be in blissful for quite some time. 🙂 I didn’t find your garage scary at all…quite the opposite — full of potential.
Hehe….I will keep you posted for the week.
Cheers~
