When I accepted the invitation to go to Cleveland to participate in this challenge, Krylon sent me some of their new ColorMaster spray paint.
I recently found this old mailbox hanging out in my shed, and knew it would be perfect to repurpose as a planter.
I’ve learned that it’s really important to wash items before you spray paint them. If there is any oil or residue, you may not get a good result. I just got a rag soapy, and washed it down inside and out, then rinsed it well, and allowed it to dry.
See something funny about this picture? The color of the Krylon Spray Paint is Ivy Leaf. Look at the leaves all over my tree stump. Doesn’t the color match great?
The kiddos planted flowers in it during our recent backyard bbq. I have since removed the marigold and replaced it with another begonia. It currently hangs on my fence. I hope it rains a little while I’m out of town.
After the backyard bbq planting party, I had a LOT of plants left over. I just sort of put them in the yard for a week or so, but they were becoming quite root bound. I needed to get them out of their store containers.
I store my large plastic pots outdoors by the shed in the backyard.
This pot hasn’t had anything planted in it for several years. It’s a little scratched up, so I chose a bright yellow to fix it up some.
I gave it two quick coats of the new ColorMaster Spray paint. It dried really quick, and it’s a good thing because I’m pretty impatient.
I was planting the potted plant in no time. I’m a messy planter, so I had to wash off the plant and the pot with the hose. The paint was dry and already set up.
Check out all of those fun colors!
So, as you’re reading this, I am probably on my way to Cleveland to work on the 24 in 24 challenge with Jeff Devlin, Mark from My Fix It Up Life, Jen from Tatertots and Jello, and Shelley from House of Smiths. Curious about what we’re doing? Why not tune in and check out the live stream? You can even ask Jeff questions via twitter. Follow Krylon on Twitter, and tweet your questions to Jeff using #24in24. We’ll be working from 10-10 Friday and Saturday.
It looks like I’m scheduled to work off and on both days, starting at about 2:00 PM Friday with Project 7 Media Console from a repurposed dresser. Later in the evening, I’ll be working on Project 11 Custom Built Picket Fence.

ps Have you seen the new commercials for ColorMaster™?
Disclosure: Krylon partnered with bloggers such as me for this 24 in 24 challenge. As part of this event, I received compensation for my time. They did not tell me what to say about any product mentioned in these posts. Krylon believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words. Oh, I’m addicted to spray paint…OH WAIT…Nooo…I don’t SNIFF it….I use it just like you…..making things pretty. :))
I have a plastic pot just like yours so think I will give it a face lift, too.
Your mailbox made me remember a mailbox I did and the post is in draft form…never got around to posting it. Now, I will go look it up.

Great colors! The mail box planter is cute just like the kiddies.
I love spray paint …….. Krylon ROCKS!
I have that same green paint from our thrifting trip!!! I love KRYLON PAINT!!! I love the way the mailbox looks and the plant pot, too! Both colors will go with just about any decor! Great freshening up for both items!!!
the paint on that little mail box…is my absolute favorite color… I love, love, love green… I’m drawn to it. Like money…though, I don’t see much of that these days. :/
Anyway…love your little projects with the flower containers…(especially the repurposed mail box) I’m going to try and catch the live stream! that will be fun. I know you’ve got to be tired…but having fun and getting to do what you love is it’s own reward. 🙂
…have not seen the commercials for the paint. (don’t watch much TV, as you can imagine)
…great tip to wash and dry before painting! (always good tips here at MRL)
… was not compensated to say good things about gail, AS always… the words and comments here are my own. 😛
Patricia.
Welcome to Cleveland and the rain. If you get a chance, see Lake Erie from Pier W. Or the Rock Hall steps. It’s a good town-hope you get to see more than the back of a spray paint can [although Krylon is the best]
Thanks so much for the welcome. I won’t be seeing much, except your beautiful countryside. We are actually in Burton. Since I flew in, I don’t have access to a car. Very much enjoying the hospitality of some very nice people.
Yes, I agree, Krylon is the best…and I’m learning a lot of tips from the pros.

I am not the painter – I am the director of this operation but I know that my husband only uses Krylon and since he’s picky – it must be really good stuff! Right now there is a Bronze color that I am loving!
That mailbox planter is adorable! Good luck on the challenge!
No worries about your plants being dry. It’s been pouring here while you’re away! Have fun!
I love the cute mailbox planter!! And the color looks great! Good luck in the challenge, you will do great!!
Look at all those yummy colors! Love that cool mailbox planter!
Oh, that Ivy Leaf planter turned out great! I like the plastic planter painted too, very cheerful looking! They do have a great selection of colours and I use Krylon all the time as well, never let’s me down!
I love spray paint for a quick change of things and all the Krylon colors are great. I wish some place close by me carried all of those colors. Good luck with your challenge!
