This mirror was at our DAV (Disabled American Veterans) for $10.01. However, on the day I stopped by they had 75% off of items with a yellow x. Therefore, I picked it up for only $2.50. I new it had possibilities.
I removed the mirror so that I could strip the finish. Stripping furniture and household items is not my favorite thing to do. I would rather be repurposing old furniture into something new and useful. I know a lot of people paint these types of mirrors, but I was more into the refinishing aspect at this time.
I stained it and sealed it with a couple of coats of poly. It’s hard to believe it’s the same mirror. Many times I choose to use paint, instead of refinishing. I’m glad I didn’t paint this project.
Edited to Add: many, many years later I put this item for sale in my booth AS IS. It never sold, maybe I should rethink the whole idea and paint it! Sounds like a great experiment to me. Putting that on my to-do list.
