From Layla at the Lettered Cottage:
Basically, you choose one word that has the potential to inspire you and create intention in your life, all year long.
My word of the year is YES! I have a tendency to say “maybe”, or “I’m not sure” or “I don’t think I can do that”. 2012 is the year that I will not pass up any opportunity, no matter how scary it may be. Doors open? I will muster up the courage to enter! I must have the confidence to take on challenges, and to push myself, to say YES!
Want to know the best part? YOU are the reason– the change in me! YOU think that I can do anything! The kindness and the support YOU have shown me over the last year has changed me. YOU didn’t know that I was a shy child, a young bride that rarely ventured out of the house alone. YOU didn’t know that I lacked the confidence as a young mother, making a nurse dress jamie to bring her home from the hospital.
So, my word is YES, and I decided that long before I ever heard of the “word of the year”. The change started back in the fall, when I was contacted by a producer for the Martha Stewart show asking if I would be interested in appearing. They liked my Today’s Menu. My first thought . . . Me? I can’t do that. But I quickly decided to say YES. Alas, nothing came of it. But that was okay. Several bloggers had been contacted while Martha was still on vacation (The Dead Sea). I suppose when she got back, there were meetings and they went a different way. But—I said YES! 🙂 YOU have no idea how difficult that was for me.
The Ultimate Craft Throwdown that I blogged about last week is another example. I was contacted, and I said YES. Will anything come of it? I dunno. But this time last year, I would never have said YES.
Thank YOU! I wouldn’t be who I am without YOU!
Have YOU chosen a word for 2012?
