I have a new light fixture in the kitchen-finally! I had called an electrician, and I didn’t expect them until later this week, but they had some extra time and were in the neighborhood on Tuesday.
I will need to patch the old hole and paint the ceiling. I hope to do that in the next few days.
The light is from Home Depot. It was very reasonably priced which made it easier to pay an electrician to install it.
This is the light that was taken down.
I really should have taken more pictures… I was so excited to show you. I took the pictures in the daylight, and didn’t upload them till it was too dark to take more. This picture is with the ceiling fan lights on.
This picture is with the ceiling fan lights off. I took it from a high angle so the bulb wouldn’t glare in the picture.
I love my new light fixture, although it will take some getting used to.
Joey looks on as Matt hangs the light. Joey did the dirty work by climbing in the attic. (note the patching and painting that needs to be done)
I know my limitations, and climbing in the attic and tying in electricity is NOT something I felt comfortable doing.

I’m lovin’ your new light! A great choice!
It looks so great! I love it! It was good to see that the light box can be moved and hung somewhere else, I have been wanting one over my table and this gave me the idea that it can actually be done! Thanks Gail!
Perfect choice! Your kitchen is looking so fresh and beautiful.
Love your new light! I would love to put in a similar one in my laundry room.
I am such a sucker for industrial style lighting. <3
Gail what a difference lighting can make!!! I agree its best to know when we know what we can and can’t do. I get nervous when Jon starts messing with electrical.
It looks great, Gail! We hired an electrician to come put in two light boxes in rooms where there were none…I know my limitations too!
I’m really liking the “new” kitchen! The blue wasn’t my thing, but I really like everything you showed as far as changing it up for cheap (ie painting the floor?! Who woulda thought!!)
Just curious….have you ever done any bartering to get work done…such as the electrical work….maybe a nice chalkboard for a light installation.
Oh pretty! I love your new light. Small changes make such a big difference!
Okay…I am confused, you don’t do your own electric work? LOL….I thought I wanted one like that at one time, only I wanted mine aged and I still might go that way but if not, then I might want to do one with a old bowl or something. Looks great Gail.
I would have changed out the light fixture–but MOVING the box–no way! 🙂
I was all ready to hang it till I took down the big square thing and saw the box was not over the table. It was a piece of cake for these guys who know what they’re doing.
old bowl sounds great Pam!

Great minds think alike! I selected this very fixture to hang in the dining room and kitchen of a condo we are flipping. The kitchen ceiling (unfortunately) is one of those that’s 7′ tall then has a square that’s 8′ tall. It probably had one of those HUGE fluorescent lights in it at one time and tucked up in there. lol I looks really GREAT, Gail!
IT looks really great…not I looks really great. (I’m still hanging out in my robe and drinking coffee!) lol lol
yeah, those huge florescent lights were very popular back in the day. I will miss all the light I got from it, but I’m happy!
Thanks Camille!
Looks awesome…love the whole new look of your kitchen!!
i love it!
oh yeah, great choice, looks good. I can see how big the old fixture was, no wonder you have some cosmetic work to do.
so much better!! i love that industrial look in lighting!
I’m glad you called an electrician. Your new lighooks GREAT!
Your new light looks great Gail – soooo much better!
Love it, Gail! Now you need something hanging on that wall behind the table…maybe a kitchen themed subway art picture…? 🙂
It looks great Gail, you must be really happy that is comes together so pretty. Can you paint overhead with your shoulder yet?
Have a wonderful day (we might get some more snow),
Sue
I dunno–we’ll see. I will take it easy
thanks Sue!
