Rose picked up this little bench for $3.50. (it was half off at the Thrifty Shopper) Rose is one of the thriftiest shoppers I know.
Rose had to re-glue one of the legs, but the screw was stripped. She used toothpicks to make the hole smaller and re-screwed the leg in place.
Rose bought some some coffee grain sacks at the dollar store. She used one of them to recover the seat.
Rose decided she didn’t need to paint this bench. She just distressed it a bit with the palm sander and used antiquing glaze over that to bring out all the cool details.
Rose says “That was it, pretty simple. Wish I had someplace to put it now! This was one of those “it’s too cheap to pass up” deals that I didn’t have a need for.
I’m hoping one of the kids wants it”.
How about you? Do you have the same predicament as Rose? I know I do! I have too much stuff, but I can’t help myself. I’m constantly in search of something to re-do. What are you working on? Are you ready for Valentine’s day?
I’m currently working on my media center. If you saw my tweet Monday night, then you know I’ve hit a snag. It’s too big. Not the main base that the tv sits on, but when I add a side base on each side it’s going to be sticking out too far into the traffic flow. I am using one of Ana’s plans. It’s the Logan (Pottery Barn). The center base unit she has plans for was too large, so I downsized it. However I kept the dimensions of the side base. I remember thinking over the weekend that I needed to measure the wall…then I was distracted by something. Oh well, I love a good challenge… NOT! I’ll keep you updated. Meanwhile, the weather people are calling for up to 6 inches of snow before Midnight Tuesday.
I hope you’re safe and warm and not snowed in!

Rose did a wonderful job. First of all, the bench has great details. I love the feed sack seat. Very nice work!
What a great project!!!! Those coffee grain sacks are awesome!!!!!!
Believe it or not I am redoing the same exact stool. And it had one loose leg as well. Unfortunately I paid more for mine cuz I live in California. I am always envious of the thift prices of bloggers in other states. But not so envious of all that snow.
Good job Rose! What an adorable bench.
what a cute little bench!!
Love the distressing and glaze. Great buy at the dollar store on the material. Lezlee
That turned out very well. I hope she finds a home for it!
Coffee grain sacks at the dollar store ??? WHOA…I wish OUR dollar stores had them. I am crazy about those and burlap. All the rage!:O)
Another fun share! I’m like you but have had to contain myself. I see something in disrepair and just know I can *fix* it and create something new. Even thought of opening a little shop and selling the new old stuff…just another of my thoughts I’ve also contained. Anyway, thanks for this and good luck with the latest…
Love the new look of your site, easier on the eyes and loads faster
Thanks so much for posting another one of my projects Gail!
This little bench was so cute I was close to just leaving it as is (after fixing the loose leg). But I still have several burlap coffee sacks found for $1 and now nothing is safe from it. So off with the pretty damask white cover and say hello to the green striped burlap! (btw, putting burlap thru the washer and dryer; NOT a good idea! What a mess that was!) Should have googled it first….
Have a wonderful day,
Rose
