This is one of my fabulous peddler’s mall deals. I’m not sure what I paid for it, but since I have a $5.00 limit, I know it was less than that.
I have mentioned before that I don’t like paisley fabric. But it was cheap (at the peddler’s mall of course).
I’ve always liked the chair, but never grew fond of that awful fabric.
Drop cloth upholstery
You know I love freebies. Years ago Jamie worked for a movie that was being shot locally. When they finished with the movie, they gave a lot of stuff away. One of the things Jamie got was a huge canvas drop cloth. When I first started working on repurposing furniture, I cut the drop cloth in half. I’ve used one of the halves ever since to protect the driveway when I paint. It’s quite a spectacle. Many colors. The other half of the drop cloth I saved (not having any idea what I would do with it).
I have seen bloggers all over blogland using drop cloths for curtains, and burlap for pillows and such. I bought some burlap, but I just don’t like the feel and smell of it.
I used a small piece of the drop cloth to recover the seat that I had already covered with the awful purple paisley fabric. I like the new look a lot better. I’m not going to have to grow fond of this re-do. I love the look of the canvas against the black chair.
Update on the media center . . . for now I am only going to finish the main base (the part the tv will actually sit on). I just can’t decide what I want to do. Hopefully after I get the huge armoire out of here, and the tv settled into it’s new home, it will come to me! 🙂
