Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s probably my least favorite day of the year. I won’t be doing any projects this year, so I’m going to show you some from the past. Up today, is “the key to my heart”.
I started with a thrifted frame in all it’s chippy glory.
A door (knob) plate, also chippy! A filigree gold frame, that are a dime a dozen at thrift stores. (I so love these frames, we had them all over the house as I was growing up)
I spent a couple of hours washing and sanding the chippy paint off the door plate. I still have mixed feelings, were I to do it today? I’m still not sure what I would do. But I really love how it looks in this picture.
I had a Christmas ornament that I had picked up on clearance after the holidays. It was a little new looking and had a curve to it, so I hammered it flat.
Gotta have a glass knob with all of these components. I secured everything with E-6000. The paper? I didn’t have any cute scrapbook paper so I did a “watermark” print on some plain cardstock.
I couldn’t decide whether to include the filigree frame on top of the gold frame, or leave it off.
Sort of thinking maybe I should have used the filigree frame INSTEAD of the chunky frame.
I sold this on Craig’s List to a very nice young fella that bought it for Valentine’s Day for his sweetheart.

I can understand why you don’t aren’t a huge fan of Valentine’s Day… I’m really not a huge fan of any holiday… but I go with the flow…
I too like the filigree frame better than the chunky frame, but either way it did turn out cute. I like the doorknob the bestest. And those keys! My grandmother’s house used the skeleton keys to lock it up!
Love It!
What area do you sell on Craigs List? Boy, I would love to live in your neck of the woods.
Adorable…I love this!
Adorable!
If it helps…I’m not the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day either…even if you are happy in love, there is still something so commercial and exclusive about it…anywhoo…
…in happier news…have you sent in your video yet?>!?
Looks great! I too am not excited about V-Day, but since it’s that time of year, I have to have something in the shop because you never know when a buyer will appear.
