Free Finds and Thrift store deals under FIVE dollars. Yep, you may remember my limit use to be $5, and it turns out that I can still get great deals at Vendors’ Village for five bucks! Let’s see the goodies I gathered in July.
While helping a friend move, I scored this free computer desk.
This petite vintage rocking chair came with the computer desk, also FREE!
I thought long and hard about this damaged pedestal for a small table. At first I thought I could repair/disguise the broken foot, but I figured for two dollars, I could definitely make something out of the spindle.
I didn’t need this metal pedestal stand, but for two dollars, I felt I should bring it home.
This old coffee table is heavy, and it wasn’t until after I paid for it that I noticed the damage. oops! This one was over the five dollar limit, costing $7.
In John’s booth at the back of the store, I found these two bundles of picture frame molding for less than $5 each.
I have NO idea why I picked up these wooden drapery rings in a jar. I thought maybe I could make a ring toss game. I even found these bottles, but they wanted $1 each for them. I didn’t buy the bottles.
Here’s my haul. John talked me into buying this lamp. He had just brought in a new haul, and was also trying to get me to buy more picture frame molding by the piece. I told him I’d take these two bundles home and see if I wanted to get some of the longer single pieces.
Here’s a better picture of the lamp. It was definitely worth the $1.99 price tag. Of course it has landed in the lamp department until I figure out what to do with it.
This $5 wooden ladder was in John’s booth. I do NOT need another ladder, but it was in really good shape. (don’t call Hoarder’s on me, ok?)
I went dumpster diving across the street to get these two kitchen drawers.
More drawers from the same dumpster haul. Aren’t the fronts awesome? I got three of them, all different sizes. BONUS! The drawers are solid wood, so I’ll part the sides and bottoms for a future project.
I’ve already used some of the picture frame molding on a table project so when I went to Vendors’ Village to drop off the old Oak Table and Chairs, I picked up more picture frame molding. They are 7 feet long and were $1.69 each.
I have one more suggestion for you. Are you able to paint the walls of your vendor booth another color? a beautiful ecru (greyish brown) would be more attractive than stark white. Never use stark white on a wall it always seems to cheapen it. There are plenty of whites out there to have the white look with out that blueish undertone. Besides a neutral wall color tone will make all your white pieces pop.
No, I don’t think I can paint the walls. 🙁 Great idea though, thanks!!!

Bingo! I thought of it instantly. Take your picture frame molding and attach to both sides of the row of rings to make a picture frame. Not enough rings? Just do top and bottom. Attach to board and paint all I think dark stain would look the most luxurious. For the separate furniture piece you found later, you can make a microwave station, a coffee station, or a small office, or a front door drop off. Or display with additional free floating shelves to make a narrow “hutch” effect. Mainly just needs a need color and some strategic accessorizing. Save those legs on the table pedestal, they’d look great as part of a shelving idea. I can’t believe you found such a beautiful light stand for so little. Clean it up, rewire and a new shade, you’re golden.
I have a similar floor lamp. All the wiring is gone. Where the bulbs would have gone there are three Lenox saucers and a Lenox bread plate on the center. I placed fat candles on each plate and lite and use for special occasions. I can’t wait to see what you do.
Regarding the 4-legged table bottom with the one damaged leg… you can always take off the damaged leg and maybe use it as a three-legged base for a demilune table. No reason to get rid of those other three gorgeous legs !
HI Gail! I can’t wait until tomorrow!! Thanks for all you do with your blogs, etc., for all of us!!
Have a nice week………e
On the floor lamp…get rid of the sockets or sctuslly keep em and find a way to mount dolor lights…u know the really big ones. And use it on your porch, patio or where ever I need light for at nite..
It’s a nice haul, and I can’t wait to see what you do with some of it!
Love the metal stand. An idea for the wooden rings: wrap them in ribbon for napkin holders or small tinsel and add tiny pom-poms for an ornament. But, knowing you, you’ll figure it out! Have fun with all of your new goodies!
Thanks Fonda! I appreciate your feedback about the wooden rings. Great ideas I hadn’t thought of.

I envy that you have storage for all these things- I’m just about out of room for more stuff! You’re always inspiring- can’t wait to see what becomes of your newest collection.
I have that pedestal lamp. The main bulb has a mogul base and when I bought a mogul based bulb it didn’t work. Ended up buying an adapter for a few dollars and it works just fine with a normal bulb. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I’ve never heard of a mogul base. 😉 The wiring is rough on this lamp, so I wouldn’t want to use it plugged in. I’m sure I’ll part it out in some form or fashion.

Would the other 3 feet on the pedestal table work for shelf brackets? Look forward to seeing what you do with everything!
Ally,
hmmm I don’t know! I’ll have to test that theory when I dismantle the piece. Thanks so much for thinking outside the box!

Great finds! I am sure your projects will be spectacular.
I can’t wait to see how you use all this stuff! Looking forward to tomorrow’s post!
