Free junk? Sure I’ll take it. As always I never know what it’s going to look like when someone offers me free stuff. My friend Cathy told me it was an “all wood” chest of drawers, but more than she wanted to take on. That’s all I knew when I said yes during a recent phone call.
Here is the FREE chest of drawers in all it’s glory. I must admit, if I had seen this on the side of the road last week, I would have passed it up. Why? Because I really do have a lot of stuff (projects) waiting for their big makeover that are in much better shape.
It’s pretty beat up, but when it just lands in your lap, it’s hard to say no, regardless of the shape.
Old dressers or chest of drawers typically have issues. All of the metal parts (guide rail?) that center the drawer are present and in good working order.
This is the underneath side of the drawer showing that the plastic slide is broken. (on every drawer)
I almost decided to set it to the curb, but then I jumped online for some pinspiration, and pinned a bunch of projects to my Furniture board on Pinterest.
Oohh la la! Lots of great ideas. I will probably be working on it right away, because I really don’t have a place to put it right now.
Would you have picked it up? Or in my case accepted it from a friend? What would YOU do with it? Jump on my Pinterest Furniture board if you’d like to see all the ideas I’ve pinned.
If you have ideas about fixing the drawers, I’d love to hear them. If you have a link to share, even better!
