While I was visiting Jamie, a neighbor of mine texted me to let me know that there were some bunk beds on our street. I asked her if she would get them for me. When I got home, this was stacked against my garage. It’s not quite what I expected, but it was free!
This guitar was with the bunk bed. A tween boy and a younger boy lived at the house were these were set out to the curb. They moved. Louie sure misses them. He loved to run up and down the fence when they rode by on their bikes.
This was a thrift store find, but it was only about .75 cents, and I didn’t have any cash. A friend picked it up for me. Wasn’t that sweet? I plan to paint it for that night stand with the pretty legs I’m putting in my bedroom. You remember, the one without the top drawer? It fits p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y . In case you don’t remember, it’s right here.
A friend is cleaning out her garage, and she offered me these two hurricane lamps. They are old, but I’m not exactly sure how old. Her uncle got them from a bank (I think). I thought they were a matched set until I got them out to take this picture. Don’t they look cute sitting on my rustic table? I love the color of this table.
Saturday was hot and humid here. Sunday, we had a cool breeze blow in and blow out the humidity. Those of you North of Louisville know just what I’m talking about. Those of you to the South, I hope it makes it your way today! Monday is supposed to really nice too. I am NOT ready for summer.
So, what do you think I should do with all these treasures? Everything but the basket, cause I know what I’m doing with it!

ps update on this pile of wood:
Jamie put a picture of her wood on Craig’s List. She got several responses and most of it is gone! So, not only does she not have to mess with it and take it to the dump, she’s happy that it’s NOT going to the dump/landfill. Me too! Ya’ll know I love to rescue things from the landfill.

Love the guitar!
Those oil lamps are beautiful, what a nice friend you have!
Sounds like you have some great friends always keeping an eye out for goodies!
I love, love, love the oil lamps. Oh yes…. I’ll have to look around this old shack and see if I have anything I can trade for them. LOL
That is so neat that your neighbor lets you know when she sees something she knows you could use. I can’t wait to see what you make from the wood.
I love that guitar! Reminds me of middle school. Ah, memories… 🙂
Wow, wonderful finds! Can’t wait to see what you do with the bunk beds!
Hey, Gail
I gave away a bunk set really similar to that about 3 years ago before I started blogging and fixing/buiding stuff myself. Wish I had kept it now. Maybe you could make some sort of coat rack out of it, with some black or oil rubbed bronze hooks.. I’m sure you’ll think of something great. I love those lamps. A nice treasure indeed. I was so inspired by your bench that you made that I made one myself this weekend, not exactly like yours but yours definitely got me started. Thank you. I hope to get it posted tonight.
june bh&g pictured a hurricane vase base as a container for flowers…i’ve done the same & love it!
