I will be taking it easy this week, featuring some of my bloggy friends. Today I am showing Jamie’s Recent Finds, from the last two weeks. You can check out Jamie’s blog here.

Friday Finds
I’m addicted to the Goodwill Outlet. It’s true.
This week, I went twice and got:
10 plate basket thingies – I was just thinking last week that I needed these to reinforce flimsy paper plates and then I popped in and they had gobs of the baskets! I couldn’t decide how many to get so I just went with 10.
I also got this tray that I plan to transform.
Grand total: $2.80!
I went back and found a piece of crewel work!! I’ve been wanting one of these (in these exact colors) and I finally found one! It was really dirty but I figured I could save it. It was stapled to a thick cardboard piece thing which ended up being art that I kinda like also! I pulled all the staples out and hand washed it and I think it’s going to come out pretty clean!
before cleaning:
after cleaning:
the art that the crewel work was stapled to:
I also found 2 Ball jars!
Grand total: $1.92!
I gotta say, the outlet is my new favorite place. It’s not as overwhelming to me anymore. There are a ton of people doing MAJOR rummaging and digging and I still don’t quite understand the whole “buy 600 pairs of shoes” everyday moneymaking scheme, but I looooove the outlet. I have had such good luck the last 3 times – WAY better luck than a regular Goodwill! I find something at goodwill like… 3 times out of 7. (random) but the outlet has been treating me well! There’s just soooo much stuff there. love it!!
She really is her mother’s daughter, isn’t she? Love that girl! Thanks Jamie for letting me grab your content! Be sure to check out Jamie’s blog, inside & out

I am so glad there is another person just as addicted to the Nashville Goodwill Outlet as me! I swear I go every other day just to rummage around and see what’s there. I’ve gotten some amazing things and love the fact most of the stuff is done by weight! Amazing, I tell you. And the whole shoe thing?? No idea either…
What fabulous finds! I am excited to see what that tray becomes. I’m hosting a giveaway and I’d love it if you stopped by!
Laura @ along for the ride
Great finds. I love the clock and especially that tray. Looking forward to seeing what type of transformation you do on that. You really got some awesome deals. Be blessed. Cindy
Hi Gail – Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by!
Wow – you really found some great deals! I love the vintage alarm clock!
angel – i just handwashed it with some dishsoap (without bleach) and it worked really well! i didn’t think about making a pillow out of it, but i love that idea! it’s 11×14 so it wouldn’t work that well for a standard pillow but now you have me wondering if i could have stitched it to a larger piece of fabric… too bad i already secured it to a new flat canvas (with aileen’s tacky glue!).
Gail,
Thank you so much for following my blog and coming to my NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAYS party! I luv that cute vintage kids book…those are the BEST! I also luv that wonderful “OLD” lamp…looking good with that new thrifty shade!
Blessings,
Linda
Oh man, I never thought to WASH crewel work. Also never knew it was called crewel work. lol I see it all the time and have wanted to use a few to make pillows, but just like the one you found, they are usually filthy. Thanks!
Thanks for all your comments!
The Goodwill Outlet is in Nashville. Nashville/Middle Tennessee really seems to have a different approach to Goodwill – I think ours tend to be a lot better managed than Goodwills in other areas – at least in Louisville. Our stores are cleaner and our prices are better plus we have amazing sales and when I’ve shopped GW in Louisville, it just wasn’t the same case.
When I shopped GW in college in Indiana, I don’t remember the sales and the deals… but it was several years ago, so I’m not sure. We have 50% off everything in the entire store on the first Saturday of the month and each week a different colored tag is 50% off and once or twice a week clothing with that color tag is 99 cents. Pretty awesome!
The outlet is completely different though – it’s not organized – everything is thrown in HUGE bins (i mean, HUGE bins – they are bigger than a table and they are on wheels – they are loaded up with stuff and wheeled out to the sales floor) and you purchase your items by the pound!! It’s like $1.49 a pound for housewares, I think. If you buy a heavy item, they’ll usually take some money off and you buy chairs and lamps and bigger items for a flat rate. I was eyeing a vintage typewriter there but a college kid got to it first – they only wanted $4 for it! Not getting to it first is one of my biggest thrifting regrets!! 🙂
Jamie really rocked some finds this week! Woohoo! Way to go Jamie! I really love that she found and brought back to life that embroidered piece!
All great finds!
Is this Goodwill outlet in Louisville??
I love your vintage finds!
She certainly is her mother’s daughter! Love all the 60’s pieces.
Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I am loving goodwill also. I have been to 4 of them in the last week and have found some great items. I did a post on my finds from last Tuesday, and then have not had time to take pics of my finds from Saturday. I joined about 36 other local bloggers and went on a “fieldtrip” to breakfast and then 3 goodwills. You can see all about it at http://alyashcreations.blogspot.com/p/arizona-bloggers-tour-de-thrift.html
Your daughter does have your blood in her…great finds
Goodwill OUTLET?? Oh my I would so be in trouble. Geez, Canada doesn’t even have Target let alone OUTLET thrift stores! Lucky!!
GREAT finds! TFS!
I love Goodwill they are more cheaper than the other thrifty store. Happy Monday!

I think I need to find a Goodwill Outlet. I love digging through stuff. Those lamps are really nice. The tray would be something I’d grab.
Great lamps!
