I LOVE FREE STUFF. Getting stuff for free keeps my overhead low. Buy low sell high—isn’t that what you’ve always heard?
It was a pretty good week of freebie finds for me. It started last weekend with a call from my plumber. He has a burn pile where his friend drops off old fencing. I borrowed a truck and went to check out the fence on Monday afternoon.
This is what I saw when I got there! So much FREE fencing. But, if you remember I was the recipient of some free fence over the summer, so I can be a little choosier about what I take these days.
I don’t need any of the dog eared fence that is on the top of the pile, or laying on the ground under the pile. I do, however want some of the gothic picket fence sections. I had to move many sections, 4×4’s and 2×4’s to get down to the picket fence sections.
On the way home, I realized that I was in the area where there was a free chest of drawers. My bank teller had told me her son was getting rid of a chest of drawers while I was trying to get ready for Glendale 2015. I had sort of forgotten about it because I was so sick when Glendale was over. I decided to call the man to see if I could pick it up while I had the use of a truck, and was right there in the area.
So, here is the chest of drawers piled on top of the fence.
Here are the three sections of fence I picked out of the burn pile.
Later in the week I went to Heirloom Traditions to drop of some furniture pieces and decided to make a stop at my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Just a few houses from the store I spied this stuff set out to the side of the road. Can you guess what caught my eye as I was driving by?
Those who know me well, will know it was the chairs!
After I pulled in the driveway I did see this awesome headboard. But it’s particle board and I already have one similar . . . AND—it wouldn’t fit in my car! So I passed on it.
But I did decide to get the chairs. The seat was missing from two of them, and I kicked the nasty (eeewwwwy) seat out of a third one before I put it in my car.
Now, what you need to know—I had pulled into the driveway to ask the roofers if I could grab some stuff. As I was walking toward the street, I saw a woman had stopped her car on the four lane (very busy) road and was looking at MY chairs! She sort of backed down when she saw I was going for them, after all I was parked in the driveway.
The chairs were the only thing I picked up from the garbage pile. They were so nasty, I couldn’t wait to get home to get them out of my car.
So… all in all it was a great week for free finds! I’ll tell you later this week about some more free finds I got out of a dumpster!
stay tuned . . .
