I’ve been trying really hard to not bring anything home that I don’t have a project in mind. It’s difficult, but hey! it’s a start, right? Because of that I’m combining two months of recent finds into one post.
A neighbor dismantled an old table and brought me the legs. Isn’t it funny-I have a reputation of re-homing junk!
This is not really a find, well sort of. I “found” it while cleaning out the shed when I organized the garage.
My neighbor Rodney brought me this pallet. I’ve already used it to make a half pallet coffee cup rack.
This hollow core door was found on the side of the road while on a walk with Lulu Mae. I’ve already repurposed it into a repurposed door chalkboard.
I guess my daily walks are doing more than just improve my health! I also found these unwanted porch posts on a walk. I made one of them into a porch post coat rack. All of these projects sold at Glendale 2017.
During a quick trip to my booth at Vendors’ Village I found this broken cane chair. It was a good deal and very pretty—I just couldn’t pass it up. Maybe I should learn how to cane? I’ll probably repurpose it in some other way. Do you have any suggestions?
Rodney was given a bunch of pallets. He was kind enough to share some of the boards with me. I look forward to using them someday soon to make something fun.
Have you been junking or thrifting lately?

Hello Gail , In the question of recent junking or thrifting lately , Well it’s been more of dumpster diving for me . I found an old metal typewriter table and a metal stool that just needs to be recovered , which is a cake walk .
awesome finds Vicki! Lucky you!

Please, please, please post about what you do with the damaged wicker seat chair. I have one EXACTLY the same!
the damaged chair? It’s still sitting in storage. I’ve been too busy to start on it. 🙁

haven’t been collecting too many finds lately. with 2 sets of 2 kids moving, it has been more about taking things to the hosparus thrift store for donations. ia did get a tv stand to restain for them, and i did get my slatted bifold doors back from them. youngest did keep 2 sets of 2 to use as a headboard behind his bed.
uh oh! You’re not going to be feeling the empty nest blues are you? I love that you re-use and donate. Also love that you’re passing it on to the next generation.

I found 2 square cabinet doors one for a chalk board and above it the other will be a rolling pin holder. Cost: free cabinet doors, paint and ceiling fan arms
When we moved I found a 1940s small 3 shelf wall hanger. Thought about getting rid of it but….. glad I didn’t. I sanded off all of the loose finish. Need to restain it and hang it to hold my grandson’s DVD’s.
Cost: a can of stain
Wooden day bed for my grandson’s Bedroom. I’m using it as a changing table until he’s old enoughto nap in it. It needed to be sanded because the arms were dinged up. Clear coated it.
Cost:$100 for the wooden bed, $125 new mattress, $27 minions sheets and comforter.
All great stuff Jennie! Just reading your comment makes me want to get busy on some projects. 🙂 I generally regret getting rid of stuff more often than I regret keeping it…. my rule of thumb — it’s not eating anything! lol
happy diy’ing!

Hi Gail, You asked about recent junking or thrifting lately ? Oh my Yes ! We mix it up around here and between auctions, thrift stores ,yard sales and the best are freebies . the last two months have netted two sides of an old crib, two awesome old beach chairs in a free pile ,boxes of cookbooks and frames, each of those for a dollar, a wooden slat window blind , a small wooden shelf with pegs underneath, a nifty little double hung metal wall hanging letter holder, and several tabletop tacky tinsel Christmas trees and an absolutely huge bundle of beautiful champagne and peachy silk poinsettias , and lastly, probably my favorite is a lovely wooden arched plaque from a church that more than likely held page numbers of the hymns . There are two family weddings looming quickly and ongoing work on a 1900’s farmhouse plus throwing in all the holidays these items are definitely being repurposed . It’s all happy work !
Sara!
You’ve been busy collecting fun stuff!!! Have fun with all your upcoming projects!
