Oh my, are you as tired of snow, ice and cold as I am? Spring is my favorite time of year, and this year I really can’t wait for warmer weather so I can get some projects done. I’ve had a day here and there, but I can get so much more accomplished if I have several days at once.
Okay, on with my most recent finds.
Last month when I delivered the Lego Storage Table to my cousin Dana, I picked up this crib from her. It was actually her husband Travis’ baby bed.
UPDATE: see the crib into toy box.
Dana and Travis have the original crib toy box I made, and Travis’ mom wants me to make one from his crib.
These are the side rails.
A couple of weeks ago I visited a store that is really near to me, but sort of new. I have only been to the White Elephant thrift store a few times. But upon this visit, I found a lot of things that intrigued me.
This antique floor lamp was $5. UPDATE You won’t believe the lamp now.
$5 full sized cream colored headboard
$5 wood toned full sized headboard
$7 desk—I passed on this the first visit, but I had to go back a few days later to pick up the headboards, so I decided since it was still there, it should come home with me.
UPDATE: see the desk makeover.
When I went to Bowling Green to go thrifting with jamie to celebrate my birthday, I picked up these 2 items at Grandma’s Attic.
We also went to the Habitat ReStore in Bowling Green where we got this rolling work station. Some of the shelves needed adjusting.
I ended up removing the top shelf, and raising the second shelf up quite a bit. It will come in really handy in my paint booth when I use my HomeRight Finish Max.
Do you remember these items I showed you last week that jamie gave me for my birthday. She called it my blogger staging kit (I think?) I called it my “stash”.
Over the weekend I was reading the latest issue of my (favorite) HGTV magazine, and I saw this little snippet! The magazine has a whole room for a prop closet, but the editor explains she has some shelves in her hall closet.
I’ve been trying to figure out a storage solution for my “props”. I know I would use my items more if I have them easily accessible.
Here’s the suggested list of items you should have in your prop closet. Not a blogger? Not a problem, the editor makes a great point of saying we could all use a “prop closet” to change out our décor when we tire of it. I found it very interesting. If you haven’t check out HGTV Magazine yet, I highly recommend it.
Do you haven any suggestions for my recent finds? Headboards? Lamp? Desk?
I love the idea of a prop closet – for blogging and for the home! Right now we have a good deal of our home decor pieces in boxes in our shed… hard to appreciate (and remember) them out there!
Good morning.
I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU! for all your inspiration! You truly are a kindred spirit of mine. I am a Wedding and Event Stylist in Warwick Queensland, Australia (you can view my FB page by googling The Wow Factor Warwick) and so many Brides of mine are currently choosing to have a vintage themed wedding.
For a long time I had wanted to make a bench seat out of a bed and was absolutely thrilled when I saw yours! Finally I was able to show my husband exactly what I meant. So he made me one for Christmas and I used it last weekend for a Bride as the Married Couple’s signing chair.
I hope you get a chance to look at the photos and thank you again for all your inspiration!
Kate
Kate,
I did google and find the bench, it’s lovely! thank you so much for letting me know My Repurposed Life inspired you to make your own bench!
gail
GAIL. The desk! What are you doing with it? If I lived closer to you, I’d drive to your house right now and buy it off of you. It’s 1000% awesome.
That desk could be amazing! There are also so many things you can do with it – like make it a vanity! Nice picks, Gail.
I love everything you do. Thanks for sharing.
God Bless
Great finds. Love the desk! We had great weather today but a chance for more snow tomorrow night.
I have to go visit to come home with fun stuff like that. Thrift stores down here are pretty horrendous. Can’t wait to see what you do!
Fun finds Gail. Can’t wait to see what you do with everything.
I’m over winter…I can’t wait to feel the sunshine on my face once again! Good scores on your outings and I’m intrigued by what you’re going to do with that desk, I know what I saw in it and can’t wait to see what you do!
I was looking at receipts (for taxes) today, and was reminded that I went thrifting for my birthday too! It’s just the best way to spend the day! Can’t wait to see the new headboard benches you will create! Love the idea of the “prop closet”–it would be a great idea to consolidate my “extras” in one place!
I am really hoping you will show what you do with each of these items, because I have some of them at my house! Hoping you’ll give me some ideas (and the answer to why I have been hanging on to them ).
I am of the few who isn’t tired of winter since we have only had 3 days of rain here. You guys are hogging it all lol I love that desk! I can see it painted white a color on the drawers in the front. You’ve seen my stash and where I store it all, {well maybe not all of it :)} but I am sure you’ll come up with a solution.
This is going to be the year of the headboard benches at our house. I’m going to make one for each of my kids.
Love your “stash”! I really love the floor lamp, milk glass vase and that desk is AwEsOmE!
What a great collection of finds! And I love the idea of prop closet, but I think I need a prop room!
Very fun idea about the prop closet! The white elephant store sounds like they price things better than my thrift store! Of course the head boards are awesome, but that desk for $7 was a steal! I love it! We have had snow one day and 60 degree weather the next, it has been insane, not complaining about the nice days, but I am ready for the snow to stop!
Oh my gosh such awesome buys on those headboards! You did get. Love the finds and the cool stash that Jamie got you. But that desk…I love! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
I really like that floor lamp!
GREAT finds and great idea about the “prop closet”…I have a little drawer for small cookie props (which I don’t use often enough) but I should have one for furniture pics as well.
I tend to forget people are still experiencing winter…it has been 80 degrees here! Hope your cold weather is over soon!!
I am so excited what you will do with your recent finds 🙂
