Last week we had a funny storm brewing, and I stepped outside to see the weird night sky. The neighbors were gathered across the street, so I walked over to talk to them. As we talked, one fellow said he had been doing some cleaning out of the storage area. I of course asked him if he came across anything I would want—he said nah, not really.
Upon further discussion he finally mentioned he drug out this piece and planned on breaking it apart the next day and throwing it into the dumpster. With the impending storm, I knew time was of the essence and I needed to get it in the garage. He had it setting outside. It is in really rough shape, and because it’s been in storage it smells very musty/moldy. I’ll need to set it in the sun for sure and spend some time cleaning it up before I even think about what I’ll do with it.
UPDATE: see the chest of drawers makeover
I love it when I get free stuff and don’t even have to leave the neighborhood.
I made a quick stop at a favorite place last week, (American Council of the Blind) and picked up this old floor lamp for $6. They have great sales, so whenever I’m in the neighborhood I make sure I check it out.
UPDATE: see the lamp now
That’s all I have for this week. I have been to Vendor’s Village a couple of times, but haven’t found anything that I just had to have.
Jamie and Andy visited recently and dropped Lucy off for me to dogsit while they went to Jamie’s 10th reunion (Depauw University) It was great to see them, and it’s one of the first times Jamie and I didn’t have time to go thrift shopping.
What would you do with the chest of drawers and lamp?
