I have a great repurposed clock project to share today. It’s really easy.
My neighbor Rodney gave me this broken clock. I had an idea to make it into Christmas décor.
First, I cut out the phrase “the most wonderful time of the year” out of silver frosted vinyl. Then, I slowly peeled back the transfer tape to reveal the frosted vinyl words.
I love the way the words cast a shadow by the sun.
I gave the clock frame a light dusting of red paint. The red was brighter than I wanted, so I let some of the original black of the frame show through the red spray paint.
I used my tiny tool ink pen to replace the pieces that hold the glass in place.
I really wanted to use the original face of the clock to go along with the saying “the most wonderful time of the year”. But I quickly realized that wasn’t going to work. Can you see the time I set the clock at? 12.25 😉
I trimmed a small piece of thin plywood to use for the back of the frame. Black spray paint made the wood piece look oh so much better!
The back was placed on the frame, and displayed on a large easel. I toyed with the idea of placing something in between the glass and the back. Maybe jingle bells and pom poms, but in the end, left the frame empty. I think a photo or some special mementos would look nice as well. What would you have done?
