It was a snowy day here on Sunday as I headed out to Michael’s to do some shopping for an upcoming Pinterest Party in TWO weeks. The employees are very excited about the party, and that makes me happy. This is a new partnership between Hometalk.com and Michael’s. There are about 100 Hometalk bloggers all across the country participating on February 16. My Repurposed Life will be at the local Michael’s here in Louisville KY.
When I stopped by to shop and discuss the upcoming Pinterest Party, I checked out the classroom, and met Charlene (shown in top right corner helping Riley with her project). I look forward to working with Charlene. You can see Ashley and her dad Tim working together, as well Ava having a great time while her mom Stacie enjoyed watching.
These are a few of the crafts available for the party. You can see more great crafts on the Michael’s Pinterest boards. I haven’t decided yet what I’ll make—what would you make?
Now, about my recent finds—it just so happens that Michael’s is really close to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore! These are a few of the items I spied while there--
Check out this vintage card catalog. Ohhh, how I wish it wasn’t $200!
I suppose this was a hotel furniture donation? The nightstands were $25
The 2 legged desk was $20, and the dresser was $45
I really liked this $10 headboard.
This cabinet front (they had tons) was $5.
Because this headboard has been there since November 22, it was 50% off the original $20 price.
These shutters were $3 a set.
This white (tintable) paint from Porter was $7 a gallon.
$25 end table
I found these cold air return vents pretty cool, but I didn’t know what to do with one, plus the price was too high.
So, you’ve probably figured out what I brought home, right?
I was really intrigued by the cabinet fronts although they were in my price range, I couldn’t think of anything to do with it…. so I passed.
The large headboard? Even though I really liked it, I don’t think it would have fit in my car.
I bought the white twin headboard, 2 sets of the shutters (meaning 2 sets of 2=4) and a gallon of the paint. I thought the flat white would make great primer and/or chalk paint. If I like it, I may try to get back to get another gallon before it’s gone.
It’s really snowing as I write this on Sunday night—I’m suppose to start on those hardwood floors today, but not sure I’ll be able to travel across town to rent the sander.
The show/presentation at the Floyd Action Network Fan Fair went well. I only sold a couple of items, but I am pleased with how well my workshop went. It was fun to meet a lot of very nice people.
Do you have thoughts on the things I got? Ideas on what I could do with the cabinet fronts?
ps be sure to check out the Michael’s Pinterest Party near you!
disclaimer: Michael’s sent me a gift card to shop for the supplies I choose to use to make my Pinterest Party project.
