Last week I was out of town on vacation. This week I am out of town, but not so much of a vacation. 🙂 I’m visiting my daughter (Jamie) in Nashville. I come to town several times a year to help her make repairs and improvements on her home. This week I’m working on several different projects, these stairs being one of them. Last time I was here, I installed laminate flooring for her in her bedroom. These stairs lead up to her bedroom and they had old, ugly carpet on them.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Today, I will be sanding and puttying.
Hard work but the stairs look awesome. I’ve done it a time or two in my live!! I know it’s hard work but the results make it worth wild.
Can’t wait to see the finished project. I, too, have inherited ugly, old, grungy, stained, carpeted stairs, that I want to strip-down and do something with….
I’ll be stalking you…. 🙂

Hey Gail….great project and welcome to Nashville. We love visitors, but had I known you were coming I could have sent you a key…I have several projects that need finishing, okay, lets get real…I have several that need finishing! lol
I tackled a project like this over a yr. ago with my stairs. Carpet off, wood being the building grade type that just would not finish off with paint and stain and look good….but I found a workable product that helped,.check out my blog posted just for you today..

I’m still wishing I would have re-done the stairs in my old house! I would have painted them white and stenciled numbers up the risers in black!
