Skylight in the main bathroom.
A tree man is on his way. After the tree is removed, the roof will need a tarp until it can be fixed.
I was rushing to the basement when this happened, because it looked like a tornado was coming. I heard a horrendous sound, and thought lightning had struck something. After I got in the basement, I quickly worried that the house was on fire due to the lightning strike, so I rushed back to the stairs. When I got to the stairs, water was pouring in through the ceiling. (there is no apparent hole in the roof, in other words, I don’t see tree limbs from inside the house)
I started gathering buckets to catch the rain. After all that I decided to look out the windows. I saw a very large limb down in the side yard, and a smaller one. Then I decided to look out the back door and this is what I saw:
so, we are all fine. Although I am pretty shaken, we are okay. The man behind me drove around in the storm to make sure I was okay! how sweet! Thanks Donnie!
waiting on the tree man… I’ll keep ya posted.

edited to add: the view from my neighbor’s house…
I’m so glad you are alright. The house can be fixed! I had that same thing happen two years ago and I know how scary it is. Only my dogs and I we’re in the living room, the same room the tree came crashing through as we we’re on our way to the stairs to the basement. Again, so glad you are okay.
Holly
Girl, I am so glad you are ok and so sorry your house is not! Please let me know if you need anything or some help! Holy Smokes!
Glad you are ok. After going through the recent Joplin Tornado, I know what kind of damage a storm can do. We should never take one day for granted! Hope you can get everything fixed soon.
OH NO!! So glad you are all OK! We had some loud storms go through this morning — did you get those? We had flooding everywhere!
Oh frightening…SO glad you are okay.
Jan
Just have to add my note! I’m so sorry for your tree and house. But I’m glad you and your loved ones are okay. I hope the insurance claims and paperwork run smoothly and you get all back together quickly and without any problems!
I’m so sorry – and so glad you’re okay.
Oh, no! I’m so glad you weren’t hurt! But your poor house! Well, that’s what insurance is for, right?
wow,, that is one big tree.. so glad you wasnt hurt.
oh my gosh, that’s crazy. so glad you weren’t hurt-good thinking on rushing to the basement. the view from your neighbor’s house is worse, i think, since that’s all you see. so scary.
I hope things look a little brighter today! 🙂 Hugs to all of you!
Glad to hear that no one was hurt and you are all okay.
My heart goes out to you and your family!
This is so unfortunate but how lucky that no one was hurt?! All things considered, I think things could have been worse. Someone was definitely watching out for you!
Oh, my goodness! You are so fortunate to have gotten out of there unscathed. I am so sorry that happened. Let me know if I can help in any way. I’ll pray for you guys 🙂

WOW!!! That’s a big tree 😮 I’m glad everyone is okay.
OMGoodness!!! So glad you are OK…what a nasty mess that left of your home! Hope you’re able to have it repaired good as new in short order.
Holy Cow! You must have been scared to death. I can’t believe how big that tree is. Glad you and the animals came out of that unscathed!
Gail! Oh my goodness!!!
I’m glad you’re ok. Were you alone when this happened? You said everyone was ok, didn’t know if you had others at the house or you meant the neighbors too.
that would have been so scary.
Glad they are getting it all repaired and get the leaks stopped.
Stay dry and safe.
Pat
WOW!! I am glad everyone is OK.. gosh.. my heart goes out to you and your family… I hope everything is repaired quickly! Stay safe!
Oh gosh, that is a big fear of mine. We have two big trees next to our house and I want them out (just like my dad told me years ago). I’m so glad you and your family is alright.
Oh Gail, I am so sorry, I am glad everyone is okay. Still, so sad about the trees, big ol’ trees are like longtime friends, hard to replace!
I’m so glad everyone is okay, Gail! I would have been absolutely terrified. I hope you’re able to get everything cleaned up and patched up quickly! I’ll keep you in my thoughts!
Man alive — I’m so relieved no one was hurt. That limb was huge! I can’t imagine how scary that all was. I hope all the repairs can be finished in a timely manner and that you can get “back to normal” soon.
so glad that you’re ok gail! that must have been very scary. we had a tree fall on our house about 6 years ago…not fun with the cleanup. however, we have a new bedroom because of it. hope there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for you soon.

Oh Gail, that is just horrible, I’m so, so very glad that you are ok!!!!
So glad you’re ok & SO sorry for the mess. Prayers for a quick clean-up!
Oh Gail, I am so sorry for your damage, but so glad nobody was hurt. The weather has certainly been causing a great deal of hardship everywhere. In Iowa/Nebraska, we are witnessing farms, businesses and towns being completely washed away with the flooding.
So glad that you are okay Gail, that had to be so scary. You’ll have it fixed up in no time!
So very sorry!! I was jaunting over looking for a post on the Mint Julep event and what to my wondering eyes did appear?? Well it sure wasn’t St Nick up on that roof top!
Dear lady please know you are in my thoughts and I’m so thankful you are safe!
Hugs!!!
oh my word…I’m so thankful that you are ok! Wow, I would’ve been so scared, you were brave to go upstairs and check it all out (I’m quite the chicken!). I hope it all gets fixed soon, and again, I’m thankful that you are ok! I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Gail that’s terrible! I’m glad you’re okay. That must have been some storm!
Oh Gail… those pictures are so scary. Thank God you are alright… what a shame that had to hit your house after all the work you have been doing…that can all be replaced, but we can’t replace you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers sweetie, hang in there.
Big hugs, Deb
I’m glad everyone is okay. That must have been so frightening for you.
Oh My Gail!
I’m SO SORRY about your house. But I am so glad that you and your family are not hurt.
I’m sure you’re going to make something creative out of some of that wood from that tree… hmmm… what will it be?
What a poop thing to happen! Pleased everyone is ok, hope you can get the house back in ship shape soon!
I’m so glad to hear that no one was hurt! Bummer about your house but I am also so sad that you guys lost what was probably a beautiful, grand old tree. 🙁 Still, so glad you’re OK.
That is some tree! Glad you are ok, I can only imagine how scary that must have been. Hope that is the end of it for you guys. As much as I don’t want a storm here we could sure use some rain most of Texas is in a drought. Be safe!
Oh I’m so sorry to see this! I’m glad YOU are ok though- houses can be fixed. The storms have been so crazy lately!
Great meeting you and thanks so much for planning such a fun event!
Sounds like you’re going to have your hands full!

How do you politely say HOLY —-! So glad you are ok, I guess you didn’t get much sleep last night huh? Serious bummer. Again, SO glad you are ok.
Oh no!! I’m so sorry Gail! Glad nobody was hurt – I hope you all can get your house fixed soon!
OH Gail, I am SO sorry!! I came over to chat with you about the Bloggers Jaunt and to tell you how much I enjoyed hanging out with you, (I LOVE you dearly, ya know!) and I find this horrible thing that’s happened to your lovely home. I am truly sorry! I’m glad you thought to come back upstairs or the water damage could have been even worse. I hope you can get everything fixed quickly and without costing you a fortune, you WILL DEFINITELY be in my prayers! 🙁 I’m so sorry!
To answer your question, I do follow my own blog in my reader, but I didn’t look at this one so I didn’t know those letters showed up in white! How funny!
Thanks again to you and Erin for heading up the wonderful time yesterday, I had a BLAST! Oh and I never win anything, so you must have rubbed off on me yesterday!! 🙂 I just figured it was a God thing…HE knew I wanted the watering can. 🙂
LOVE YOU!!
Missy
OH NO!! Did this happen this morning? We went to church where Dustin works and it was awful. It sounded like it was worse down toward you!
Glad you are ok! Call us if you need an extra set of hands or two!
OMG! i am lurker here, but i couldn’t let this pass without a comment. how fortunate you are all okay, but oh my, the damage to your lovely home. hope the tree man gets it cleaned up fast (how sad to lose such a big tree) and you get repair crews going on the roof. good luck with the repairs.

This is crazy! When did the storm hit? I am so glad you are okay!!!
I ran into more rain as soon as I dropped Beckie off where it continued to POUR until about 20 miles from home. Apparently we only had a few sprinkles early in the morning Saturday just after I left to drive down your way!
poor tree! poor house! Poor you!
Living in a hurricane prone place, I feel your pain, Gail. Hang in there! Much to be thankful for. That tree looks like it was amazing. Sure it will be missed along with the shade it most likely provided. 🙁
Glad you’re okay. I live in Georgia and we’ve had some crazy storms this past week. But thankfully nothing like you. Just some limbs down and I’ve seen a few street signs that didn’t make it. Again, glad you’re not hurt. I hope it’s fixed fast!
So sorry that you have to go through all this, but thankfully the family is okay–that’s what really counts.
How great that your tree person is able to get there quickly, too.
Glad you’re okay. Was that your tree or the neighbor’s tree that hit your house ? Hope the insurance company will cover all the damage.
Oh Gail! I am so happy to hear you are okay as well as everyone in your home! But, your poor home! I am so sorry you are having to deal with this!
Oh, how scary! Hope the tree removal goes smoothly, and that you are able to stay safe, warm and dry.
Good heavens Gail! So glad you are ok!
oh my goodness! i am so glad you are ok- that sounds so scary. i am also glad to hear you have neighbors there who care! 🙂

Oh my word, I am so sorry but so glad you are okay!
Oh my goodness Gail, what a frightening experience! I bet your heart was beating a mile a minute! I’m so sorry about the damage, but grateful that you are Ok.

You poor thing! So glad you weren’t hurt and everyone is ok.
I’m so sorry about your house, but I’m so glad that you’re o.k.
Glad there was no one hurt!
Thankful that you are okay. We had a bad tornado here a few weeks ago, and many are still homeless.
