When I use primer, I use Kilz. I find it very difficult to get the Kilz off of my skin. I do NOT like to use harsh chemicals to remove paint from my hands.
I use a cotton ball soaked with baby oil. Sometimes I have to scrub a little, but at least baby oil is gentle on the skin.
Now on to another useful item from your linen closet. Soap! It’s an old trick and most of you may know about it already, but if I can help one person learn something new, then I feel like I’ve done my job!
When Cathy and I build our benches, we sometimes have to use long screws. We drill pilot holes, but still some screws can be very stubborn! As you can see, we sort of just lay the screw on the soap and slide it, turn it, whatever it takes to coat the screw good. Our soap of choice… Dove. Try it, you will be pleasantly surprised how much easier it is to get that little booger in! Now, here’s one more little tip . . . if you are still having difficulty, back the screw out a few turns, and try it again. You may have to do this twice, but you will notice that it will go farther in each time you back it out.
