Y’all know I love my Silhouette cutting machines, right? I have the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software for designing all my images. I seriously can’t do without it. When I got my new computer and installed the Silhouette software, I didn’t have the Designer Edition and I was lost. I took care of that immediately. I mostly use the ruler function. It helps me center my text and images. I’ve been really, really busy with my Etsy signs lately, and it would be so frustrating without having the ruler.
Today, I’m going to show you how I jazzed up the adorable paint can that my Valentine flowers came in. How cool is it that the can was purple! Perfect for my brand.
I started by importing my logo into the program. I used the trace function to select and trace the text portion. You can see on the right where I have the logo, and on the bottom left you can see that I have removed the portions that were traced that I didn’t want in my image.
I cut the logo out of a scrap piece of green vinyl.
I weeded out the oodles and boodles, and decided where I wanted the logo on the can.
This is my secret weapon whenever I do any vinyl project. It’s a hem guide. It quickly helps me center any image or text box.
My transfer paper was not large enough to hold my logo on the can, so I used a piece of painter’s tape for a hinge.
I begin peeling the logo off the slick paper. It is now attached to the transfer paper.
I remove the slick paper and my logo is now on the transfer paper, ready to be laid onto the can.
I apply the logo and the transfer paper onto the can.
I gently start peeling the transfer paper away from the can.
voila! My logo on the can!
This paint can is not as large as a real paint can, the picture is deceiving.
When the flowers are removed, I’ll have a neat keepsake for pens, pencils, paintbrushes, or more flowers.

Hem guide is a good idea. I tend to just “mark” my weeding tool with my thumb to check.

That’s really adorable!
So cute! Love it! Ok – I don’t have a Silhouette, so I have a possibly dumb question. The “portrait” and the “cameo” are the actual machines, right?

Hmmmm…I have never gotten around to buying this software because I didn’t know that I really “needed” it…if you are recommending it, I am thinking I do!
