It was so hot last week, that the only thing to do was to go thrift shopping! There is this one Peddler’s Mall where I like to buy sheets of small plywood—BUT! I promised myself that I wouldn’t buy any until I got the garage cleaned out in order to actually be able to organize the new stuff. With my friend Cathy’s help I was able to tidy the garage several weeks ago. I borrowed a truck so that I could get longer pieces.
This is a small booth, but as you can see, it’s packed full of goodies! The last time I bought from this booth I used the small boards to make shelves for my kid’s art center armoire.
These are the pieces I chose. I like the smaller pieces, as I just can’t handle a 4×8 sheet of 1/2 plywood.
While I was there I spied some cheapo letters. They were about 8” tall. I was shocked to see that they were $13 EACH! Nope, they didn’t come home with me.
These are some items I looked at, but in the end, didn’t come home with me either. The roll top desk was a great deal at $25, but too rich for me. The mirror was $8, and I’ll probably wish I had gotten it. I would have bought the bookcase for $10, but the shelves were very thin boards.
I did get two of the smaller kid’s chairs for $5 each.
These drawers were tagged as “wooden boxes” because their drawer fronts have been removed. I plan to “part them out”.
I can never resist $5 artwork. I love making large chalkboards out of them for Glendale in the fall.
This one was also $5 in Joey’s booth. It’s actually painted on canvas, not cardboard.
This lot of hardware, handles and more was only 2.94.
That’s it! It was a good week thrifting. But HOT! When I was loading all that lumber? It was 89°, but felt more like 99° !! You can see from the forecast that it was a very beautiful weekend here. I was very, very busy!
I hope you had a great weekend as well.
