I am taking part in the Wayfair Blogger Challenge sponsored by my good friends at Hometalk. The challenge theme was “geometric” “black & white” or “rope”. I suppose my project hits two of those themes. Are stripes geometric?
I really like this Stratford Wall Mirror with Shelf. It is made to hang on the wall, but I was pleasantly surprised that it will also sit on a table. It’s very nice “as is” but remember I’m suppose to change it up.
I decided to go with the black & white theme, but went with something less permanent than paint. I reached for some black electrical tape. I used a scrap piece to help place my stripes the right width apart as I moved down the mirror.
I tucked in the end of the tape under the wooden frame, and wrapped the other end slightly around the back of the mirror frame.
I continued the pattern from the top of the frame to the bottom, placing three stripes on the shelf itself. I then put a piece of tape at the top and the bottom of the base.
I LOVE the look of the yellow daffodils with the black and white framed mirror. Remember to think outside the box when you decorate. You could easily change out this mirror with the seasons with all the colored and patterned tape available these days! I thought my idea was original (using electrical tape) but after I did this project, I saw a framed mirror covered with electrical tape entirely. I suppose there isn’t anything that hasn’t been done before. 🙂

Wayfair sent me this mirror as part of the DIY Blogger Challenge, all opinions are my own.
This is so striking! I couldn’t believe it when I scrolled down and saw it was made with tape. Great project!
Thank you Laurel, I love that it’s removable…. I can change it whenever I want. 🙂

What a GREAT idea!!! You did AWESOME!
I love daffodils!
: )
I just did a post yesterday about black and white stripes in decor. They’re my favorite!
When I saw your first photo, I wondered how you got your lines so incredibly crisp. Then I found out it’s tape! Cool!
So clever my friend! And if you tire of it, all you have to do is take the tape off! I would say stripes are geometric…but heck I really don’t know. It is weird to see your side bar on the left now. Hope all is going well with the new transfer, I am sure there will be a glitch her and there, but you’ll love it in the long run.
Love it! A great use of electrical tape.
Great idea Gail! And even if someone else did it too, you still came up with it all on your own! I love that you can switch it out seasonally. And the blog looks great good luck with leaning everything new!
I love that you used electrical tape, Gail!! Not only does the mirror have a real polished look to it thanks to the smooth lines, but it feels like you are being true to you for using the tape. Super clever!
Very chic! Would love for you to share at Give Me the Goods Monday link party {party via 1 link with 5 blogs}:

i love it! and WP looks GOOD! 🙂
Ha! The mirror came out great – and I see I’m not the only one who hangs things on the side of her barn to take pictures of them! Better lighting out there. Great minds!

Electrical tape! You’re a genius. I think it looks terrific!
Electrical tape, really? You clever girl! Your mirror looks really sharp!
Ok…now this is cute! I love the stripes and the daffodils….
and you’re right, there is nothing new under the sun. But it’s new for you! So that counts. 😉
I must ask…did you switch blog platforms or what? I’ve not ever had to type in my name and junk on your blog before and the other day…a lot of your recent posts came into my reader as if you’d just posted them. What’ going on?!?!!!
Pat
Thanks Patricia!
Yes, I did change blog platforms. I am now on WordPress. And… I have no idea how to leave a comment on YOUR blog now either. I have a LOT to figure out. I haven’t checked my reader to see how many of my posts came through…. sorry about that! I also, have no idea if you will receive this comment reply in your inbox, or if it will be on the blog or both! I have a long road ahead of me. unlearn/relearn is the name of the game!

Cool!
A big step. Lots of bloggers are switching. Me, not yet.
I believe it is the expense that is stopping me. There is an expense, right?
Anyway…you should blog about your transition. People love you for your honesty(PASS OR FAIL) and your great tips and and tutorials. You may not have time for a Tute…but some tips! 🙂
also, I’ll email you back so you can see what I got from you.
There is a hyper link stating a ‘new comment’ was waiting here for me… (?)
Patricia~
The cost is what is stopping me too. I am now working full time so I don’t have near the time I need to keep my blog updated like I should. I cannot see changing for a fee when I don’t have as much time as I used to.
Gail, I agree! Blog about your experience!!
Adorable…I love it!
love it! so chic!
I LOVE it! and I love the way it looks with the daffodil. Very nice 🙂
