I made this dog bed for Louie a couple of years ago. I actually made a few, but I can’t remember which bed he actually ended up using. To make it I used part of a repurposed chair back  as the “headboard” of the little bed.

I used 1x4’s for the sides, and bead board for the bottom.

I used another part of a chair for the foot board.

Here is Louie testing it out. I’ve had this in storage for a long time. I have had one similar in my booth for a couple of weeks as a dog/doll bed. I thought it might be more popular as a doll bed as opposed to a dog bed.

    Annie Sloan Henrietta

I changed up the color with some Annie Sloan Henrietta. I used Annie’s clear wax over the entire piece.

    I did some light distressing.

I added a cute little quilt. Hopefully it will go home to some little girl soon.

If I were to make this now, it would be a lot different. I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of years. I use to find chairs on the side of the road all the time, but I haven’t come across any lately.

I switched it out yesterday with the brown one. When I went into the store today, Kathy told me that a lady that had looked at the bed previously (brown one) came in and inquired about it. She came in about an hour after I switched them out. My plan was to paint the brown one too, but Kathy says the lady wants it . We’ll see.

Darn it, Gail, you have to stop making such cool things... now my list of things to do is even longer!

My girls would have loved those as doll beds! It's really cute. I'll bet they both sell pretty fast.

      ok... I love your signs.. I keep thinking about one of those silhouette machines. If I could just figure out a way for it to make $$ for me with my house plans.. I could get it to play with also! 😉 {Brainstorming}

I remember those from the HGTV posts... I think they were yours. I always loved them. I really like the colour of the other one too, some little girl (or furbaby) is going to be very happy...

It always works that way in the booth... It used to make me crazy... they want it when it is gone... but lesson learned for them. You snooze you lose, next time they buy it when they see it.

Hope the weather is bearable for you. It is still hot and going to get hotter by the weekend... you must be sending us your humidity too along with it. I don't like that stuff.

      Have a great day.

      Hugs, Deb

The doll/dog bed is really cute. You could add some butterfly cutouts for dolls or some dog bone cutouts for dogs. Tell Louie he makes an excellent model. 🙂

I love the doggie beds! I've been wanting to make one, but haven't quite settled on what to make it with.

Chairs are hard to find for free now. I scored four chairs and a table for $12.50 at an auction and the bf thought I was crazy. Silly man!

I've always loved your doggie beds. Good to see this again. It would definitely make a great doll bed too. Too funny that as soon as you took the other one out someone came in that wanted it. Go figure!
I love the new color too.
