I made Jamie some shelves out of some old dresser drawers and some kitchen drawers. I screwed them together with drywall screws, top to bottom and side to side.

I painted them at home, then delivered them to her. I painted them brown. She took them for a little spin, and decided she'd rather not have them brown.

She decided (and I agreed) black would be better. That was several months ago. Since then she has been looking for some "special" paper to line them.
Here, you can see that she has the paper put in the back. She simply used double stick tape.

awww, if you look closely you can see a picture of me! I was very surprised when she sent me the picture of her new setup.

I got the inspiration for this project at craftynest.

I’m linking this older post to Maryann’s POPP to show how much difference a coat of paint makes!

Great project, I love the idea, very creative. I love it in black, but it makes much more of a statement without the paper lining in the back. Love it in the middle pictures.

      Hi Gail...

My friend, I'm so happy to see you join in with the fun of Sunday Favorites again this week! What a great post to re-share! You know...repurposing and refurbishing are two "loves" of mine! I love the challenge for one thing!!!

I just love this project...what a great way to salvage some old drawers! I love the look...kind of eclectic...so much more interesting than just plain ol' shelves!!! You did a great job designing and putting them together too! I bet it just "tickled you pink" that your daughter really made them her own by repainting and adding the pretty background paper! They turned out beautifully!!! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and talents with us today...this is a great idea...love it!!!

Have a super Sunday, my friend!
      Warmest wishes,
      Chari

What a great idea. I love that your daughter seems to enjoy repurposing as much as you do!

I saw a whole bunch of drawers the other day somewhere and now I can't remember where, but I wish I had brought them home with me because I would love a little bookcase like this one.
