Do you own a HomeRight FinishMax? I do, and I love it! I use it to paint most of my projects. Painting with the FinishMax is quick and easy, and the name says it all—the finish is unbelievable! In order to paint with a sprayer, you will need to protect the immediate area where you are painting. The over spray from the HomeRight FinishMax is minimal, but accidents do happen. This is an example of how simple it is to make an easy DIY paint booth. Start by clamping your plastic to a something tall. I clamped it to my privacy fence, then unrolled and unfolded the plastic and added some more clamps. One of the best tips I can give you is to use scrap wood pieces to hold the plastic down. Blowing plastic is not a good thing when you’re using a paint sprayer. Another great tip is using milk crates to elevate your project off the plastic. This is my year ‘round paint booth. I have access to an outbuilding/shed where I have my plastic stapled to one wall. This is how I secure my plastic to keep it from blowing and how I elevate my larger projects using a pallet. When my paint booth is not in use, I hold the plastic off the floor by tucking it behind the pallet, while leaning the pallet against the wall.
10 tips for making your paint booth project a success
- You can use any plastic, but thicker plastic will last longer. If it’s in your budget, go for a canvas drop cloth.
- Clamp or staple your plastic creating a backdrop that goes from the wall, onto the floor.
- Use long pieces of scrap lumber to prevent your plastic from blowing up onto your projects. This includes in the fold area where your backdrop on the wall meets the floor.
- To get good coverage on the feet/legs of your project, elevate your project on a pallet or milk crates.
- Use a leaf blower to remove any debris or dust from your plastic before painting.
- Refrain from using your paint sprayer on a windy day.
- I advise you not to spray paint near expensive vehicles (including your neighbor’s car) especially if you ignore the above tip and paint on a windy day.
- Paint the underneath side of your project first.
- Two/three light coats are better than one heavy coat.
- Keep a small paint brush handy in case you’ve diluted your paint too much and experience a run.

What wouldn't I paint?? But I would definitely try it out on my soon to be built kitchen cabinet doors... otherwise we will be hiring that job out because we want a perfect sprayed finish!! Thanks for the opportunity!
susan
… I've also got lots of unfinished (unstarted!) projects around here … old chairs, dressers, mirrors, etc. that could use a coat of paint or two!
susan
I'd paint my vintage travel trailer, Maggie Mae - a 1962 Shasta Airflyte!
Thanks for the opportunity … good luck to all!
Susan
Kim Coe
My best painting tip is to take the time to do the right prep work. I'm always in a hurry to see it 'pretty', but taking the time to sand and prep the item helps me not to have to do it over.
Kim Coe
I have something like 5 dressers, 2 chairs, a trunk, and some other little wood goodies waiting in my shed for it to be warm enough for me to paint. At that rate, I'm not going to be able to get through it by brush in the summer, so I would definitely LOVE to try a recommended spray painter (I had a different brand previously and it was horrible!).
Jen Archer
My best painting tip would be to "take your time". Don't try to rush it. Make sure you get smooth, even coats and that you allow them to thoroughly dry before applying the next one. You will be much happier with the outcome.
Jen Archer
I have a dresser that I turned into a media center, but haven't painted it yet. I am nervous to do so, because of all the hard to reach places. I would love to be able to spray it. Thanks for the giveaway!
Carmen Nuland
My painting tip - make sure you get all your supplies together and that you allow plenty of time for prep work!
Carmen Nuland
I need to refinish an old desk. It's in poor enough shape it needs paint. Thanks for the giveaway!
Brenda Higgins
A table that I found at a thrift store.
Catherine Edmonds
I have several projects I'd use this for….painting a twin bed for my son's room when he moves out of the crib, my daughter's desk and bookcase, and an antique hutch that I'd like to paint and distress.
Amy
Tip for when painting rooms: throw aluminum foil on doorknobs, accessories as to avoid paint dripping on the fixtures.
Amy
I would re purpose all of my old furniture, starting with my dresser..
Sherri Howell
What would I paint...so many projects in mind!! I would start with some outdoor furniture, then my garage doors. Thanks for the great giveaway!
durandconnie
My tip: clean your sprayer out after each use. I also don't like runs, so be careful of how heavy your spray is...it is better to put it on light and make more coats.
durandconnie
I would like to all-purpose older styled furniture and to breath into them a new purpose or life. I have been so inspired by your site and by so many on Pinterest. I see people throwing away so many items that could be used as something else. I do recycle and this would be just one more way to help save our environment.
Celeste
If I were to win I've got a queen size 4 poster bed I bought on a buy/sell/trade site on facebook. The previous owner had started stripping it so my husband finished stripping and then sanded the entire thing. Now it needs a coat of paint, or 2. I think the finish would look nicer sprayed instead of brushed on. I also have a chair with wooded legs, 4 dressers etc. etc. I've been putting off a lot of projects until I have the right tools for the job.
Pearl Hitchcock
I would use this sprayer to paint all of the shabby chic vintage furniture that I put in the local antique mall. I am a 72 year old women and that is my retirement income. All of my repurposing pieces are usually large, and heavy such as armoires, buffets etc. A sprayer like this would sure be easier than crawling around under these tables etc. with a paint brush.
Theresa J
I have some dining room chairs that I would love to paint
Dawn
I have been eyeballing the Finish Max for a long time. I just "acquired"...dumpster diving....a table and six chairs...spindles, spindles, spindles oh and then more spindles. This would do the trick. Oh did I mention there are lots of spindles...lol 🙂
Diamond Bruce
The most recent Re-purpose/DIY project that I would start with is some furniture that I have picked up. My tip would be DO NOT OVER SPRAY! Drips drive me crazy. Thanks for the opportunity!
Kaitlyn
I just painted and refinished my very first project - I redid a dresser for my daughters nursery. She will be here any day so she gave me a good deadline to work with! I used foam rollers for the paint but the whole time I was thinking "man this would be so much easier with a paint spray gun"!
I think my one tip would be take your time. It will always look beautiful in the end if you don't rush it. Make the mistake of rushing and you may end up needing to start all over.
Cheryl Lindsay
I would Love to have this sprayer! I am having so much fun making things out of pallets! I have so many ideas to try and this would make them look even better!!
Cheryl Lindsay
My best tip would be patient, and do mulitple thin coats, and not try and get it all done in one coat! Less runs!!
Sue Z.
Paint tip - if you're using a brush or roller to paint and you need to stop for a few hours (up to 24 hours) tightly wrap plastic wrap around your brush or roller, making sure to cover it completely.
The paint won't dry out and your brush/roller will still be soft and ready to use.
Just don't go over 24 hours. The paint tends to thicken and start to dry then.
If you wear disposable gloves while painting, then just hold the brush in one hand with the paint wet bristles in your palm and peel the glove off and over the brush. Use the other glove to "tie" around the handle of the brush to secure the first glove.
If I were to win this, I'd probably paint my kitchen walls just to get the feel of the sprayer.
It's a can't lose situation as those walls are a terrible looking paneling, but if painted would really resemble beadboard.
CindyZS
my car needs a paint job, lol! 😀 tip: always paint in a well ventilated area and protect everything, including yourself.
Bev Lloyd
Ohhh so many things.......I have a garage full of prospects just sitting waiting for the weather to warm enough to paint. This sprayer would make such short work of emptying the garage so I can get my car in again. First on the list.....baseboards for my Utility room & enclosed porch. I haven't had baseboards since a remodel about 5 yrs ago. My husband was planning to do them but because of sickness, & then his death...I have been living without them.
Amy
I would paint a 70's china cabinet that I revamped. Paint Tip: Don't paint things outdoors when the temperature is below 50 degrees F. Cold temps do weird things to paint!
Stephanie Conner
I have a handful of my repurposed life inspired projects to paint, but I think I would start with the window shutter magazine rack. My favorite painting tip is to not leave your wet paint project in the backyard within reach of the very possessive Queensland heeler puppy....or you'll be washing paint out of puppy fur AND repainting your project
Tina Spencer
I would paint the dresser that I am working on for my grandson's. The drawers are covered with colorful maps and the dresser will be ocean blue. My painting tip: Never paint while wearing your wedding rings.
Viv
I'm looking for a credenza or buffet table or something like that to redo for my house. I'd definitely use the sprayer for that as well as several other projects I want to do. I have 2 tips I use frequently. The first is to use a fairly large box to spray small objects in so you don't get paint everywhere. Then if you do need to use a brush, and you don't get everything done in one sitting, put the brush in a zip lock bag so it doesn't dry out, and you can use it again when you can get back to painting.
Cris
A spray tip would be... to use long even strokes across the surface to the end then back across.. keeping your hand in one spot and sweeping will cause uneven spray and maybe drips.. The one about the wind is a good . I unknowingly spray dusted my car one time..ooopsie AND always wear a mask !
Cris
I would paint EVERYTHING! To begin with .. I would start with the chairs I have tucked away here and there .. Hubby tells me when I do something with those I can collect more! DEAL!
Theresa
Great article!! Love your tips, esp the "do not spray paint in windy weather". This spring I want to paint an cast iron hurricane lamp holder. It is black and I redid my craft room so the accent color is white. I would like it to match.
Shay
I have about 6 side tables that I have picked up thrifting that I want/need to paint. This spay painter would be such an inspiration and time saver too
Debra Lee
I have a small buffet that needs some loving!
Jacki
I would paint a colorful life....starting with a bright cheerful colored vintage porch glider:)
Amy Anderson
I would love one of these! I am planning to repaint all of my patio furniture this spring and this would be so nice to have! Best tip would be to do several light coats!
Bonnie E.
If I win this awesome tool, I would first paint a large dresser that's been on my to-do list for a long time. My tips: Buy yourself a pair of painter's pants and a shirt; you know, the white, lightweight cotton ones. Keep clean hands by wearing tight-fitting dentist-type gloves.
Kristi Bennett
I have several projects to paint. Furniture, shelves, wood frames... and the list goes on and on. When starting a paint project, especially for walls, save a small sample of the paint in an old medicine bottle or baby food jar... etc. This will be great to use later for touch ups that are needed. Also you can copy the label from the paint can onto the container. So you have the mix solution and touch up paint.
Michele Smyth
My great-grandmother's china hutch has been waiting patiently for 6 months to be dressed up for a "third life" in our new-old home. The sprayer would be perfect for getting into the swirls and detail work! Thanks for the tips!
Mary Ann Albritton
Hi there' thanks for the chance to win. First I love paint and the difference you can create. I use a lot of Lattice which is the pits to paint. The sprayer would make an incredible difference in time but mainly on my wrist , arms, the list could go way on. My husband has taught me to paint with no wind, make sure you can be dust free, always put first coat light, then build color. Don't spray heavy at first, causes the drips, runs makes the end result ugly.
Lori Kreider
I would paint all the furniture in my home. I use a large fridge box as a paint booth
Tiffany copper
I would paint all the cabinets in my house and family's houses, I use bed risers to keep my furniture high to paint it.
Cindy Nelson
I have a need to SPRAY something..anything. Mix, aim, fire! 😀
Vicki Rice
My fence, an old wooden garden cart, my wooden trash bin holder, my mind is racing with the possibilities! The best tip I have is take time to prepare your project. The extra time will make sure you have results you can be proud of.
Terri Hughes
I would paint a chest and nightstand that are in need of painting. Thanks for the giveaway, very nice!
Diane
I would love to repurpose my crafting storage cabinets. After that I would consider my kitchen cabinets that have been the same since our house was built in 1964!!!! Prepping it the key to a successful end to a beautiful beginning on any project! And practice makes perfect 🙂
Gwen
If I won, I would paint my yard swing, patio table set, garden bench, garden cart, several planters and flower pots, my beat up desk, and a garden bench I plan to make from an old head board
Jean Thompson
I have some patio chairs that need painting, and some garden pots. I have always be a DIY person, and try to repurpose items. I am an old school gal, and hate to throw things away. My husband is also a woodworker in his spare time, and we finish and paint many projects. It would be wonderful to have this spray painter.
Michele Sheldon
I love to add COLOR everywhere, so the possibilities are endless! I have an unkept forgotten parcel of land in my town that I've 'adopted' every summer for several years. I have lugged all kinds of things from my local dump to this spot to brighten it up with color, including several small picket & one large wooden fence! I've painted these items by hand or with spray paint, but this sprayer would allow me to do these items again and so many others in brightening my town! While cleaning, pruning, and decorating there, many passersby would honk their horn, give me a 'thumbs up' or tell me they drove a different way just so they could see what bright cheerful items I've decorated the garden spot with that day! I see so many smiles as the people pass by in their cars waving at me, it really is a delightful experience for all! As for a tip, I'm so spontaneous that I often don't protect the surfaces that are under where I am painting, so me and my floors, driveway, slate floors in the basement have splashes of color; therefore, I'd recommend taking the time to protect these surfaces ahead of time. I'll try to heed my own advise!
Kathy Lee
I have several projects in the garage that I'm sure my husband would really appreciate my completing, but I would probably re-do our deck first!
Jessica Searles
I would paint a dresser converted into a cushioned bench. Bonus entry: This article showed how to create a DIY paint booth. To make a smaller paint booth, just use a cardboard box.
christine smith
We own a race car and this could come in handy. As well as the paint booth idea.
Debra Womack
I have a couple of chairs that I'd like to paint - and I think a sprayer would be the way to go..
As for a painting tip - prep prep prep. If you take the time to tape things off properly (and make sure your surfaces are clean) you will be much happier with your result. 🙂
Megan Steffen
If I win the Home Right Finish Max I will paint the hundreds of vintage and antique furniture I have been hoarding that is stored in my two storage units! I have a 20 X 20 unit and a 20 X 30 unit and thay are both filled to the gills. I recently just got a studio and a great paint sprayer is next on my list. I've heard so many good things about this particular sprayer and would love to own one. Also, my best tip is when you are painting over a vintage decal on antique piece first cover the decal with vaseline using a fine tip paint brush. Next, spray paint or paint over the vaseline to your liking and when the paint is dry wipe away the vaseline to reveal your protected decal.
Dianne
I would paint some lattice in the backyard .I think it would be much easier to use a sprayer on it than use a brush.
melissa
I'd paint my thrift furniture , my recycled hubcaps to become garden art & my curb-hopping finds!
Jessica W
we need to build some side tables for the living room, and would love to paint them with this
Laura Poe
I have a bunch of old weathered wood that I want to do something with.
Doreen
I have an old metal patio set whose paint is beginning to flake. Sitting in the round seated chairs with metal woven like wicker on the backs is like sitting outside a bistro in Paris France (so I imagine). My morning coffee wouldn't be the same on anything else. The sprayer would be the perfect solution to making sure all the little nooks and crannies get covered. I think a nice coat of Belgium Cream will do just fine.
Denise Moore
I have never used a spray paint gun and all I can say is EVERYTHING is going to get a whole NEW look!!!
Jami Cobb
My best tip? Have someone else do it! LoL Just kidding...
Prep---prep your project, prep your area and prep your tools. It'll save you from a lot of hassles later on.
Jami Cobb
I would paint the antique vanity that's sitting in my garage awaiting inspiration!
Yvonne Napier
I would paint the town red. lol But seriously I have some really nice old pieces that need painting and I have been putting it off - if I win - I wouldn't have an excuse.
Laci Mae
I would use it to paint all my yardsale finds that I have taking up a big part of my basement. 🙂 My painting tip is to test the paint out on a small piece of scrap before you paint your furniture. Just because the paint color looks like a nice shade of pink in store, doesn't mean you won't end up with a Pepto Bismol looking dresser. lol!
Karen Walker
I have an old buffet that I bought for a steal of $30. I have been wanting to bring it back to life and redo it in a deep red for my dining room. 🙂
Karen Walker
My best painting tip is probably PLAN AHEAD. Gather everything you need. And start EARLY in the day.
Peggy Barber
I could use this on projects from toys to furniture. My tip is to use a lazy susan to paint small items.
chuck
This would be nice. Don't have anything currently on tap to paint nut this would be so much easier and quieter than the air powered sprayer I have now. My spray booth set up is in the garage I ran a cable around the roof then hang tarps to cover all my tools and other stuff in garage. Plus tarps on the floor makes it easier in Florida it can be sunny and pouring rain ten minutes later. Thank you.
Leslie sosa
I just moved into a small room while in college and doing a lot of DYI projects to make my little room my own! I've purchased a lot of ikea items including a dresser that I would LOVE to revamp!! <3
Jennifer M
I've been trying to get brave enough to paint my kitchen cabinets. It's time. My tip for painting is not to paint when it's too cold or too hot. Where I'm at, it can be too hot for the project or myself to be out in the direct sun. My experience is that the item will stay tacky and not dry well.
Jenn
I would paint my fence, all around inside and out. Do a fun theme on the inside for the kids, like bright colors and such.
Jean Menkins
I would love this paint sprayer!! I would attempt to paint my 80's oak kitchen cabinets white!!! 🙂
LaRonna Peeples
I have 2 projects I could use this on. My kitchen cabinets and I have 2 metal lawn chairs that need repaintimg!
Liane
Two old pine cabinets that grace my summer porch. Thanks for the opportunity.
Laura Sponcil
My family and I have just moved into a different home. I plan to paint my kitchen cabinets in the spring. The paint sprayer would give them such a nice finish. It would be great for this to be the very first thing I ever won!!
Stacey
I would FINALLY tackle the vintage dining room set that has been living in the garage for over a year!
Janie Bowen
Would LOVE this painter!
Debbie
I would paint a headboard and footboard that I bought for my daughter. When finished, it will be beautiful!!
Kim
I'd love this spray painter to paint furniture that has a lot of decorative molding and holes. It would be great for wicker furniture! Since I don't have a spray painter (yet anyway, as I hope to win this one) my tip for painting by hand is to use the best brush you can afford. I love the Purdy brand.
Thanks for entering me to win the sprayer.
Kim
Betty
One project? Can't do just one. I have a vintage headboard I want to turn into a bench, several kitchen chairs, a chest of drawers, end tables (several sets), my goodness the list could go on for pages and pages on the comment section 🙂 I really need this as I paint everything with a paintbrush!
tammy d.
I have a dresser that I've wanted to paint.
Jennifer
I am a decorative painting refinishing furniture and transforming homes. I would love nothing more to add these to help me achieve different finishes and make life a little easier when it comes to painting furniture. Please pick me!
Sheri
I would love to have one of these. I'm terrible with spray cans.
Rachel
I'm doing a home remodel, and a spray gun is my ideal way of doing this. From painting walls to painting chairs and cabinets. Having used rollers before, my best advice for painting is to cover everything up!! Paint gets everywhere, even places you didn't think it could.
Belinda
I would refinish a dresser built by my great grandfather who was a carpenter. I also plan to build a reclaimed home in the near future and this would be most useful.
Casey Maynard
I will paint anything and everything...I have an overflowing shed of projects waiting for paint!
Corina m
I have a hutch and a dining room table that I need to paint ASAP!!!!!
Cindy
I have had paint for my house for 3 years.... I have had surgery and some other things and haven't been able to paint. I will have to do it with old brushes and/or rollers. So I could really use this.
JustGeri
I would love to paint the secretary that my husband’s grandma gave us. It's old but not antique and has been poorly painted sometime in the past. I will share a tip I picked up and will use on the secretary, paint the outside of the drawers it makes them look so clean and really finishes the project off well.
Stacia
we Zen tangle furniture. so everything starts with a base coat and a color choice paint....then the magic begins. our garage is full of future projects. I also repurpose things...I have 7 tables that need painting so the magic can continue.
Summer
We are having a DIY wedding. There are so many things I could do with this! Thank you for the opportunity.
Angela
I have a condo to decorate and would use the fabulous FinishMax to paint all kinds of furniture to a shabby chic style. I repurpose furniture and found decorating objects; this handy and looks very convenient FinishMax painter would do the job for me. I love experimenting and could really use this spray painter to the MAX!
Jennifer McAdory
I would actually finish some of my projects I have started! 😉
My paint tip is to mix a little plaster of Paris in warm water and then add to your paint if you are someone that hates prep work. This will eliminate the need for sanding and priming on most wood pieces.
Lisa Marie
On my to do list has been repainting the dry sink we use as a landing strip and the corner display shelf we bought years ago when we were broke newlyweds..oh and the patio furniture, and the new garden bench, and....well you get the idea...a million projects and I want a sprayer so so bad to do them!
Adele Harth
I have so many projects that could use that, I don't know where to start!
kelly arent {copper roof interiors}
I would LOVE this sprayer to have and to use on ALL of my painted furniture projects. I have heard great things about this sprayer from many painters. My tip for a sprayer user is to add Floetrol in your paint for smooth finish and to thin it. Also…another tip…CLEAN it after you use it…don't wait and say "I'll clean it later" Later never comes then you have to scrape that paint off…just clean it RIGHT AWAY. 🙂
Pat
I'd paint furniture cabinets, the rafters on my front porch. i'd paint the last two exterior walls.
My paint tip? cut a template of your light switch out of your paint chip and keep it behind the switch for future reference.
Patricia
B Hess
I would paint the desk that's staring at me right now, the one that really wants to be peacock blue. And then my kitchen cabinets, and then all the doors in my house, and then the kitchen chairs... Best painting tip (for myself): just do it, or it will get too cold out to paint and you'll have to wait until the spring 🙂
Benita
I have got sooooo much painting to do. Help! 🙂
Lynn
We're in the middle of a big remodel, and I'm not looking forward to painting all our new doors with a brush! I've been considering purchasing a paint sprayer, so this seems like an omen! I haven't seen this mentioned (maybe because it's a given with everybody who spray paints), but beginning the spray "before" the item, and ending it "after" the item makes for an even coat.
Mona
My best painting tips are not too much paint on the brush and patience. Messes happen when we rush!
Mona
I would paint the kitchen cabinets as the first painting project in the 1917 home we are renovating on a shoestring budget, a lot of hard work and some great ideas!
Emily
My front porch railings.
Judy
I would spray my wrought table n chairs that I just bought at a sale. My tip....don't wait for your husband to do it....Just Do It!!!
Robin Hanning
I would love to win the FinishMax sprayer. I have been going to yard sale, estate sales and so on collecting old furniture to paint. This is just what I need! Thanks for the great tips too.
Laura Clark
Good luck to all of you that have entered! Such great tips for beginners like me. I can't wait for spring to start spraying the Finish Max again.
Laura Clark
HomeRight
Linda
I've been soooo curious how the sprayer works - been wanting one for a long time!! My tip would be:
Be adventurious and try new things - you will surprise yourself!! I've used latex, chalk paint, milk paint and now experitmenting with metallics. I love it all! Plus trying different ways to distress; love wet distressing the best!
Deb
Best painting tip... Sand, sand and sand some more... Then take the time to clean/dust your workspace or area. It makes a tremendous difference in the finished product.
Jodi wells
OMGOODNESS, what would I NOT paint if I won this?!?
Deb
I am dragging my feet on redoing my kitchen cabinets. It is such an overwhelming project. This sprayer would be a time saver and help eliminate brush strokes!!
Pamela
I need to do a bedroom set and would love to be able to spray it. I love they way your projects turn out so beautiful.
Monika Anderson
Best painting tip? Occupy the kids with something else more interesting, so they stay clear of wanting to "help" paint. 🙂
Monika Anderson
I have 2 night stands and 1 bed frame that are screaming for make-overs! I'm just waiting to have the right tools for the job.
Chantal
I would love the try this 🙂
Salena
I have a table I would love to paint!
Lindsey Henderson
I love refinishing old furniture....I am currently pregnant and have had to put refinishing and painting on hold until June but I have the cutest corner chair that looks like a Jennie Lynn railing and seems very hard to paint and would take me days to put coats on with a brush! I have always wanted a sprayer but live on a tight budget and that is something that I've always put on the "one day" list:) I use q-tips for painting or staining in hard to reach areas......works well for me. Thanks! Would love to win this!!!
Julie
I would paint an old dresser I want to redo for my nursery!
fayme s
🙁 sadly I have no painting tips, as I am new. I came LOOKING for tips!!
fayme s
i would probably do any project i came up with, but right now I can only dream of starting my "buffet into bed" project that has been staring me in the face for the last 1.5 years
Ronda E
Those are some great tips - I've always been intimidated by spray painting, I would love to start experimenting.
Jenn Clubb
I have two adorable matching old twin beds sitting in my garage. I've been wanting to paint them for my daughters (2 and 4) who are now sharing a room. They are currently on mattresses on the floor :/ I was always recently giving a beautiful old farmhouse table that needs so work but i plan staining the top and painting the legs white along with 6(!!!) chairs! That paint sprayer would SAVE me! One paint tip I recently learned.. Look at the can! Lol I recently primed my master bathroom (bright red to a lovely turquoise) and after I was done and Covered in dots I found out the primer was oil Based! YIKES! Talk about panic! I rubbed my skin till I was raw. After much research at 3 in the morning (because that when normal people paint right??) oil removes oil.... Odd I thought but worked like a charm make a scrub with olive oil and salt. It came right off!! Lesson learned!
Sheri C
You have wonderful ideas to build and you make it look so easy!
gayle gildehaus
i would paint the china cabinet i picked up.my painting tip is when painting a chair or small table put tall tacks in bottom of feet or legs to hold it off the surface and be able to cover it all the way to bottom without sticking to the surface
Laura Teasley
Awesome giveaway! I have a couple of chairs and barstools that I would paint first.
My tip - take your time and don't rush.
Stephanie S
I would paint a chest that we want to use as a buffet in our dining room.
Diane S
Oh...the projects I could finish with this!
Shannon Mulligan
I have a wooden bed frame that I would love to paint! It's been painted previously and it is in rough shape, but the detail is beautiful and with the right paint, it would shine!
Angela Evans
The first thing I would paint is an old dresser I bought off Craigslist.
jose gueits
i will like to paint the kitchen cabinet my tip is to take it easy and paint in a well ventilated room
Marta
I've seen so many of these, I'm curious to see how many different projects people use these for.
kathleen
I've been dreaming about painting my bedroom furniture -- this sprayer would make that dream come true!
Susan
If I won, I would paint all of my furniture projects and finally get them completed. I would also help my sisters finish their projects. I might also try painting my house, which is definitely needing a face lift. My best painting tip is to wet your paint brush and roller cover with water, so that they are barely damp, prior to adding paint.
tracy d.
I would paint EVERY project that I have with this! I have a beautiful old buffet that I am wanting to repaint, an electric fireplace, 4 bureaus, 2 night stands, a daybed, a headboard.... oh my so many projects!
Kim
I look forward to reading this blog everyday thank you
Kim
Turn the table upside down paint the underside second...first take the drawers out and paint the interiors of the drawers a different color and the sides. So when you pull the drawers out you'll get a wonderful surprise color.
kimberly Conover
I'd paint my dining room table and chairs. I'm sick of the dark color. Time to lighten up
Pam Gilbert
I would so love to have this to do chairs, furniture, etc. Just remember don't get too close to the object being with the sprayer as drips may occur.
Karen Pinder
Hmmm...What would I paint? What wouldn't I paint is more like it...I would paint all of my projects from bookcases, to dressers to kitchen cabinets. I would even attempt walls as long as I really did my prep work. Prep work is the key to any painting project. In my humble opinion anyway. Just like setting up the proper painting area is important, whether it's drop cloths or a painting booth. If you spend the time to set up painting area and you have all the sanding and priming done. Painting is a breeze. Painting projects turn out looking more professional. So there you go, my tip is proper prep work. Also don't be to hard on yourself if you flub something...lessons are learned every day as long as we pay attention. I love your blog! Your whole blog just glows with creativity. Very helpful information to be found here. You are a true inspiration to us all. We moved to our dream house 2 years ago and have a huge garage that's screaming for my own DIY center to be put in there...I'll let you know how that goes. Have a great day and happy DIYing!
Sincerely, Karen Pinder
Joe
So much inspiration. Thank you!
Candace
I love doing diy projects. I paint everything and this would be awesome to have.
**tip** whenever you want to add letters or a design as an embellishment, but same color, use hot glue and then paint over it.
Doris Henson
My tip would be to always clean your paint brushes well and hang them up to drip dry. I ruined a favorite brush of mine once by not cleaning it well. 🙁
Doris Henson
There isn't a piece of furniture that wouldn't get painted in this house....except perhaps the recliners. I even have a upholstered office chair that I would paint....I've seen some fantastic looking upholstered furniture that has been painted before.
Kristin
We just bought a new house as of Tuesday and it needs LOTS of paint including trim, doors, cabinets, and door handles. Would love to spray all the trim and doors before we move in
Cindy Johns
I would paint a dresser and mirror.
Rachel
I think if paint chairs with this. And a tip? Clean out your brush! And buy the best brush! Makes the job so much easier!
Raymond Scott
I have several projects that this would come in handy for!
Shirley
Oh dear where do I start... Patients, patients, and good tools would be my tip. Now what I would paint, (2)old file cabinets to make a desk in my craft room that I have waited on for 2 years. We painted them with a brush first, and a roller, Oh what a mess. We need to paint old dressers to put into the craft room too. So many things I can think of would make this too long. We are on a fixed income and can't afford one of these so I have entered any give aways I can find to win one of these.
Tanya Felsheim
My best painting tip....it takes less time to do it right the first time than to take short cuts and have to do it again. Prep work is the key to success.
Tanya Felsheim
I would so love to win this item. i have been looking for something that would make my life easier in painting the many items I want to refinish and repurpose.
Suzanne S
I would love to paint my 2 barstools.
Becky Neal
What would I paint......where do I start! I think my first project would be my TV stand. It is plain black and I am dying to go Navy blue! Best Paint tip............don't spray paint outside when it's windy!
Stephanie
I would repaint my bedroom dresser.
Jessica Maksimovic
Thank you for hosting thus give away! I have been watching your posts about using this sprayer and kept thinking that I would love to get my hands on one. The first project that I would do is refinish our living room furniture. They a high-end 4 piece wood set that went through my brother's divorce and handed down to me when I got my first place. It's not just that I want to remove the bad karma attached to them but I really would make them cleaned up and fresh with a modern grey or even a pop of color. Thank you for considering me.
Heather
I would paint my wicker - it's currently white, but this summer I want to paint it a pretty BRIGHT color - just for a change! Thanks for the paint booth tips - awesome ideas!
Michelle Hardwick
My paint tip would be to always use a primer!
Michelle Hardwick
I am obsessed with your site. I would use the paint booth and Finish Maxx to paint the furniture My hubby and I make from old pallets and reclaimed wood. And he is going to have to build a Lego table for our grandkids!
Lynn Clogston
Can always find something to paint around my old farmhouse!
Ann Capion
I have lots of patio furniture to paint...and an in-ground swimming pool. I use aluminum foil to wrap brushes and rollers at day's end and they are ready to go the next day. I also wear disposable gloves when working with certain paints...like chlorinated rubber pool paint...to avoid paint freckles.
lorrie geer
a old cabinet I got for my kitchen
Colleen
I would paint a old chair that I have!
Courtney frick
I would paint my house!

Angleia

Kelly Ann
This is a great giveaway. Super excited.
Karen Ennenga
It looks like this would be the best way to go over using a paint brush. I would love to try it out! 🙂
Robbin
My paint tip: take your time! Trying to finish as quick as possible usually ends up with mistakes that have to be re-done. With sprayers, that usually means runs or globs of paint. Also, always clean the sprayer after each use...even if you plan to use it for the same color "in a little while."
Anely Jaime
So many things come to mind that need painting but I would definitely start with the front door and continue with all the interior doors. My advice is to make sure you have everything you need ready before you start.
Meg Growkee
About 20 interior doors. And furniture. And, and....just about everything! My best painting tip: I've been painting my own spaces and stuff with roller and brush for ten years. Regardless of what I work on I find it need to check my work - make sure there are no drips BEFORE the paint dries, be sure all parts got painted or that another coat isn't needed, etc. Don't use super cheap products - put your money into something that works instead of doing it twice.
Robbin
I would LOVE to have this paint sprayer! My husband has one he uses for his cars but it is not allowed to be used for any other projects. 🙁 With this sprayer, I would have my OWN and not need to borrow. We are planning on remodeling our kitchen and also creating a combination laundry and bathroom. Can't you picture all the projects for which the sprayer would be used? Our daughter has been doing hand-painted projects for the grandparents and I could share the sprayer with her - two people getting to use it would be even more special. 🙂
Kae Martin
Thanks for taking the time to give GREAT instruction on painting. I really need a sprayer. My house was flooded and I'm doing the repairs with no insurance money or outside financing. All the help this single mom can get is appreciated!
Adrian T
If I won I would use it on every project I could get my hands on. From personal around the house walls to furniture for my hobby. My favorite paint is when I mix my own colors, make the paint matte or chalky then make a old piece look new. I do it for fun, but do sale things now and then. Gotta support my habbit some how. I dont drink or smoke but im addicted to painting.
Kania
Would love to paint my cabinets =)
jennifer Pomeroy
I would paint my basement and my bathrooms! my best tip is to get your husband to do all the painting 🙂

Julia Fugate
You are sooooo cool!
Lorah Marquardt
Oh, where to begin... So many projects...well, you know. That being said, however, never rush when painting. 🙂
Julia Fugate
This is so cool!
Beth M
I have a simple antique china hutch that I found in my grandparent's basement over 30 years ago. I love it and it is time to give it a face lift. That would be my first project with the paint sprayer. The best painting advice I have to share it do not skimp on the prep work before you begin painting.
Molly's
Whatever I get my hands on.......
Amy Sharpe
I have so many things to paint, armoire, 5 wooden 6ft shutters, five dressers, rocking chair, desk, 37 chairs, 9 end tables. So so many things to paint with that sprayer, I have two garages and a studio loft full of items and when I get those painted more to buy and paint. Oh this would be so exciting.
Alica
I would paint so many things like furniture. I'm making a shelf for my kids so that would be the first thing I use the sprayer for.
Melissa Stripling
I would paint my daughter's bedroom set...and my best tip is good sanding, and a good poly to finish!
Jean
I would love to have this sprayer! There are several projects I could use it for, especially a wood storage cabinet that was my grandmother's.
Roseann Marsett
I'd paint the ceiling of my patio and most of the patio furniture.
Angela Sandel
If I win this awesome sprayer I can do all the redecorating that my home needs. From the window shutters to the kitchen cabinets, the old table refinished to making shelves in vibrant colors for my workshop. The blue painters tape is wonderful for those fine grooves that I want to do shading. It never sticks to my projects and let's me do great geographic designs.
Maggie
I would paint an old, old dresser that's been in my family for a hundred years.....it's in terrible shape, and needs work, but has great sentimental value. That's what I would use the sprayer for...continuing the tradition of passing the dresser to the next generation. But, in better shape this time around!
Nicole
I'd do an end table I've been meaning to paint!
Deb Wilcox
My daughter & I have many 4-H projects that this would be so nice to have. And a lot of ideas have came from your site. I have a daycare & one of my children is autistic & I have a few ideas that would help him.
Janie Lane
My daughters bedroom furniture!
Franny Rustand
With spring coming, I need to get all my outdoor furniture painted so they look new again. I first wash them down really good to remove all dirt and grime. Then I lightly sand the surface to help the paint bond. I would love to win the paint sprayer which would make my painting so much easier and faster.
Linda
I have a bookcase in the guest bedroom that I rescued from a dumpster. It would be the first of many projects.
Regan Walker
I have 4 current projects that I totally need to paint...A refurbished toy box from my childhood re purposed for my Boys, a mud room bench, 2 DIY bookshelves, and new "Big Boy" beds for my 4 and 5 year old Boys!
Michelle Carlson
I've just recently started a business & can't wait to attack the collection of furniture pieces I've accumulated! I could so use this sprayer to get me ready for my first big furniture show coming up!! I've taken the first step, buy furniture. I've not only packed our 3 car garage, but a dear friend has allowed me to store 6 more furniture pieces/sets in their cottage! I desperately need to get busy & boy would this sprayer help me do just that!!!! I would say the best tip would have to be organization/prepping. Then your mind is free to focus on the creative juices! Many blessings! ❤️, Vamp'd Up Designs
Cathryn
Where to start - all my outside porch furniture needs spiffing up, I have two folding tables to paint my signature blue before I can use them and I have a couple of lovely chairs that are hanging in the garage waiting for an update. I've been putting off starting anything because brush painting just looks unprofessional (I've been trying to save for a sprayer because I would like a decent one)
Jenny Holton
Don't try to paint all your coats of paint in one or two tries. Put many light coats on. It is easier to add paint and harder to remove it!
Bobbi J
This would help me with large dresser, changing table, and chairs I have in storage. The chairs are very intricate so using a brush will be difficult in achieving an even painted surface. Them best tip I have is to take the time to prep your piece well it will save time in the long run.
Abby Robinson
I would paint the craft room furniture I'm building. I'm not the best painter, so my tip would be don't paint on glossy paper. It sticks.
Marcia Carpenter
I have a beautiful antique buffet in my garage just waiting to be spray painted. It's been there for about 3 months. I will need to be painted inside and out. The inside is what has made me be a procrastinator. Painting all the little nooks and cranies can be daunting. I purchased a cheap sprayer but it didn't work so good. So I've been putting the buffet off, dreading the job. Put me to work! I need this sprayer.
Jenny Holton
My daughter has several cabinets and a mirror I really would like to paint for her new home!
Sheila J
Painting tip. lighter coats and more of them is better than heavy coat and it running!
Juan
Wow with this I will make alot of business andeven more points with my lovelyone at all home improvement... Thank for all the advice and techniques I have learn and discover new talents so keep it up ...
Martine
My best paint tip...did you know the inside edge of a door where the hinge is should be painted the same color as the outer door; not the same as the inside color of the door. I hope that makes sense. I would paint my hutch with that great sprayer. thanks
Sheila J
Hi. What wouldn't I paint 🙂 Mine just recently broke, so this would be an awesome win! Thanks!
Jessica Mullins
I have so many projects where this will help tremendously!
Kim
I would paint furniture
Melissa
I would paint some rocking chairs that are long overdue for a good coat of paint and also my fence which could use some freshening up.
Tiffany
I would flip my first piece of furniture with the help of this sprayer. A fabulous garage sale find desk that I can't wait to add some new base molding to, a fresh coat of paint and some fabulous hardware to match.
Tara Williamson
I am ready to start building the built in bookshelves and the seating. I have been painting by hand and would love to speed up the process. Thank you!
KarenE
I have 2 dressers and various small projects to paint, including a cute little child's rocking chair. This sprayer would make a great addition to my tools!
Melody Hall
I would spray paint my old iron patio table and two chairs. I want to paint each a different color. My paiting tip is to wear disposable gloves.
Dawn
I would love to win a paint sprayer! I have just started my own business re-doing furniture, as of now I am doing everything by hand but I have read such great things about this model I would love to try it! Would be so nice to never paint spindly chairs again by hand 🙂 Thanks for the chance!
Bethany Mingin
I would use it to repaint my mothers kitchen cabinets and some furniture.
Bethany Mingin
Oh and my tip is take your time when painting.
Lisa
I have 1/2 a garage full of furniture to be painted and or re-purposed ! (my husband would desperately love to have his garage back) A paint sprayer would so speed up getting them done ! Especially since I live in Wisconsin, I only get 6-7 months to work on anything . (no heated garage !) My painting tip would be don't be afraid of color and don't rush things !
Arthur Gliem
I would paint my front porch banister's and some of my DIY project 's
Cheryl
Love it, this would be so helpful with all my projects. The one tip that resonates with me is patience, I'm always wanting to rush to the end but I keep it in the back of my head to have patience and I won't be disappointed with the results. 🙂
Brooke
I am so excited for this giveaway! I am getting things together to redecorate our bedroom, and I would love to win this to paint various things for the room. My best painting advice is to take it slow, and wait for each coat to dry. I've smudged more than one project because of my impatience!! 🙂
Kathi
Oh my goodness. I have had a vintage bed frame that my little girl has been wanting painted for her sweet pink room for ages. I could finally complete it...along with so many other pieces I have been hoarding! What a blessing it would be!
julie Clark
i don't paint often, because all the coats and waiting drives me nuts. i think having a sprayer would greatly open the world to more fun projects. usually i am a stain and clear coat kind of girl. but when i do paint, i like a high gloss, ultra smooth finish. usually between coat 1 and 2 i will lightly hit the entire area with some 000 steel wool. it really makes the finish coat glide on. i hope i win this. as i am horrible about putting paint brushes away correctly
Latoya Ellington
Best paint tip:
Don't be afraid to use different colors then what you tend to choose.
Be open to something new!
Teresa Rayburn
I love this sprayer and I hope I win it. I have a lot of projects waiting.
Beverly
I have two very nice china cabinets that are just waiting to be brought to life. A paint sprayer might just be the motivation to get this done!
fawn strunk
I would use this for so many things. I have a few projects that really need painted again. I would say my best tip would be, have proper ventilation when you are painting.
sawstrunk@gmail.com
sawstrunk@aol.com
Latoya Ellington
When I win the Finishmax sprayer I will paint my old kitchen set and repurpose the broken dresser in my basement. Thanks for the giveaway opportunities!
Cindy Shankle
I would do a better job painting my furniture. I have recently started painting as a hobby and put my pieces in a flea market. My tip is one I discovered while showering after painting. I forgot to clean some paint off my leg so I used a Mr Clean eraser. It takes off all paint without harming your skin!!
Katie
I would love this sprayer to finally paint all my goodwill finds!! My best tip...store rollers and brushes in plastic bags in the fridge
Elizabeth @ hobbylobbyist
My best tip is to Take. Your. Time. Don't rush it, be patient.
Trudi Broadhead
I have some pallets that need painting.
Elizabeth @ hobbylobbyist
I would love to paint our coffee table-- it needs re-fresh.

I have a sofa table that's crying out for a makeover. It's really quite ugly, but nothing some paint wouldn't change.
Catherinese
(holly crap did you get a LOT of comments!)
I wanted to say--
How do I begin to tell you just how jealous I am that you're
IN WARM WEATHER!
Catherine
Perry
We have a number of wicker items we'd like to paint.. And I've just about completed a garden shed which will need a coat of paint in the Spring. (If I mention everything my wife has plans for it, We'd be here all night!!!)
Bridget Casteel
My husband and I travel with little furniture so when we move every 3months I have to find furniture on craiglist or curb side. I love creating our end tables and more...that is what I would paint 🙂
Melanie
The first thing I would do is paint my bedroom furniture. My paint tip.....take the time to prep, use a good quality brush and go light on the coats.
Lorelei
I am getting a new house & I would so love to have this spray painter!!
Kerry
I would paint my shutters! Make them match my front door so the neighbors don't think I've lost my mind.
Renee
I would ABSOLUTELY love one of these!!!! I love DIY projects and follow your wonderful blog very closely!! Thanks for all the great info!!!!
Christina Ortiz
I have a coffee and end tables I would paint first. I haven't done it yet because I thinking I'd end up with brush strokes. They'd go back into my living room, so I'd hope the would look nice. When that works out well I work my courage up to paint my kitchen cabinets 8).
Cheryl
I would paint our camper!!
Wendy
I would use it to paint everything I make!
Donna Blancett
Scruffy kitchen chairs, dressers, kitchen cabinets. The orojects are endless:-D
amy
Forgot to leave my tip....patience, patience, patience!!!!
Audra

Abby
I need this so bad!! We are redoing out entire house and we are in need of this terribly!
amy
I'm preparing to move into my grandma's old home. As a single mom, the budget is small amd thw work needed is not! I habe a mile long list of diy projects many of which include painting and repurposing. This sprayer is on my list to purchase, so winning would give me a little extra money for paint!
Minerva
The first thing I would paint is this gorgeous desk a customer gave me. It was her mothers. She wanted to do it herself but she said she was too weak to carry out projects like that anymore. She gave it to me on the condition that I would share with her the beautiful outcome. I'm all done prepping it, just needs the paint.
Paint tip: when painting laminate use a primer first, the paint does not adhere to it when you put it directly on, you'll see the paint start to bubble, not a happy moment
Beth M.
My daughter wants her room painted purple. We will use the sprayer on her furniture and accessories.
Mary
Your posts have been inspiring me to look at cast-offs and turning them into treasures! I would start with a headboard using fence boards....or maybe a coffee table using pallets......or an end table.....too many choices!
Cindy
I work at a low income independent living apartment complex for the elderly and disabled. I would love to let the residents use this to spruce up the furniture in their apartments.
andrea
My tip is have vinegar on hand to help clean
Jennifer T
What wouldn't I paint! I have a 50's buffet project, a secretary, dressers, a French bed frame, a boys elevated bed, and more! My best painting tip... I've got nothing that I'm sure everybody doesn't know, but living in the Midwest the most important thing to me is to not paint on a breezy day when things are going to land in my project! Lol!
catherine
It's super basic, but my biggest tip is always be sure to clean the piece before painting.
catherine
I would paint the legs on a table for my craft room.
andrea
I'd paint kitchen cabinets with it.
Rhoda
I have so many things, but first would be a chair I was able to save after my mom's house fire.
Rachelle
I paint furniture as a hobby and having a paint sprayer would make my life so much easier! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Kristin
I would paint my son headboard. Also his builder closet doors, they are so boring!
Kimberly
I have a ton of furniture that I could paint.
Melissa Scartozzi
I have a mini barn going up in two weeks. would be nice to have sprayer to paint it with. Painting tip from me would be to put paint brush or roller in plastic bag to keep moist if you can finish your painting project in one day. Hate washing out rollers and brushes if not done as they never seem to be dry when i need them. This way they are ready the next day of use
Mikki
I have an old mirror with a wooden frame I would like to paint, also my kitchen door needs painting and I've been putting off because I don't want to use a brush on it.
Anna C.
What would I paint? Everything! Well, probably not everything. But project-wise, I have a set of 6 mid-century modern chairs with a lot of angles that I would much rather spray than hand-paint. And I have a media center that is in desperate need of an update as well.
Anna C.
Oh yeah! And my best tip is...wait until the hubby is in a good mood and will watch the kids. There is no way my painting ever turns out well when the kids are "helping."
Tiffany
I would love this! I'm always doing one project or another. The first thing I would paint is a chair project. We have a few chairs that are mixed and matched. If I spray them the same color, it'll be an eclectic collection. 🙂
Dana Benedict
I have a dresser and nightstand that need painting, as well as two armour cabinets. A sprayer would make it so much simpler.
My tip: Don't rush and two coats for better coverage
Dana 🙂
latanya
I would paint a desk
Natalie
best tip sand, prime, sand and sand again
Natalie
So many projects, so little time. Talk about a great way to speed up the process. I would love a paint sprayer. I have been painting furniture for 9 years and am very ready to move up in the world.
Laura Kenyon
I have several projects that I've been thinking about painting, but it has seemed like too much trouble! I have a wicker desk, a storage cupboard, and a TV Stand chest... and my best advice is to use a tack cloth to ensure a clean surface after sanding!
Amy B
My best painting tip is to let your project dry longer than you expect it will take. That way you will avoid finger prints if you touch it and it is not quite dry. Also, wear plastic gloves or you will have paint under your nails for weeks! Been there...done that! {Maybe I am just a messy painter}
Dana Dornburgh
I'm glad you asked! I've been spray painting with cans of paint in my basement, this sprayer would really revolutionize my projects! I'm putting an addition on my house, 800 sq feet baby, and a frugal repurposing girl like me has multiple pieces to paint. I have a desk chair, headboard project, telephone stand I'm turining I to a towel stand for my bathroom, a hope chest, and that's just to start with. Please for the love of all that is, pick me and free me from aerosol cans. If be forever grateful. Spray on!
Glenda
I have always wanted a fine mist paint sprayer, no brush marks and would give the projects a "pro" looking finish. First on the list is an antique hope chest.
One great tip to age your piece and have it feel silky is to use 70% rubbing alcohol instead of sanding. After your paint is dry, add some alcohol to your rag and rub where you would like to remove some of the paint. Rub with a softer touch to meld the top layer, silky smooth!
Kim P
I have a vintage metal bed that I've really wanted to repaint but I'm not a big fan of spray paint cans. I would love to try using chalk paint in the sprayer.
Courtney
I'm in love with the idea of how much easier it would be to reprint my antique bed set I inherited! ❤️
Amy Chumley
My bf would hate it if i won this.....because i would PAINT EVERYTHING! Lol
Amy B
I would paint a bunch of flower pots I am getting ready for summer planting. They are looking pretty shabby and a fresh coat of outdoor paint would make them look new again. I have about 30 to do!!!!
Anna Martinez
wow…i could paint a dresser and an armoire that i have here at my house…i am in the process of sanding them down 🙂 they are in need of an updated look
Susan
I would paint an old metal "step stool" chair that is currently the most hideous shade of Pepto-bismol pink.
My tip is, to easily paint the heads of screws, insert them into the bottom of an upside down cardboard shoe box. The heads will stay flat and stationary for a quick spray paint.
Evelyn O
Recently purchased a 1950 bungalow in another state in very poor condition to be used as a seasonal home. Lots of repairs and painting to be done! Multiple pieces of thrift store, hand-me-down and reclaimed furniture to be painted. Recently retired and ready to paint!!
Cindy Elliott
I would paint my oldest daughters dresser she used as a baby. We want to use
it in the new baby nursery ! This is her third daughter and my sixth grand-blessing!
Amy
If I won this my husband who is a firefighter would spray one of his old fire fighter helmets pink for our next Breast cancer walk. I'm a survivor and every year he puts on his whole gear and walks with me to support the fight for a cure! Next we would paint our old hutch and vanity to give it a new brighter look! We would love to win and start getting creative instead of using messy paint brushes that leave strokes. Good luck to all!!!
Joree Saucier
Would love to redo some outdated furniture pieces and since we have a new house we need lots of updating. Would be so much easier to paint outdoor furniture with a sprayer.
My tip would be - Take time to tape off trim and areas you don't want painted. Takes time but so much easier in the end.
evelyn florinchi
I would have my husband repaint the wicker furniture. Then I would repaint all the rooms in the house. Thank you for the opportunity to win this.
Nichole
I am just getting into repainting furniture for sale. I'd like to start a blog and FB page. This sprayer would save a lot of time. My advice is also to have patience. It's easier to spend a few more minutes prepping and taping off then to fix a mess that could have been prevented with a little more time spent prepping beforehand.
Monica Palmer
Love to have a paint sprayer to do furniture.
Joree Saucier
Would love to redo some outdated furniture pieces and since we have a new house we need lots of updating. Would be so much easier to paint outdoor furniture with a sprayer.
My tip would be - Take the TIME to tape off trim and areas you don't want painted. Takes time but so much easier in the end.
Ida Houston
I would like to try the HomeRight Finish Max. I inherited 2 used Wagner paint sprayers from 2 different sources, and I can't get either of them to work right. I keep hearing wonderful things about paint sprayers from others, and I would love to try one that works like everyone says they should. My next project is building a portable linen closet (although it is portable, it is NOT small - actually it will be quite large) and a paint sprayer would make my job so much faster and easier as the doors will be old shutters that are bright yellow right now. I'm hoping it won't take too many layers of white to cover it. Here's a couple of painting tips... First, I wear a bandana to keep my hair back and protected from "flying" paint (paint's hard to get out of hair once it's dried). Another tip is to use an angled brush to cut in corners, such as where the wall meets the ceiling - fewer mistakes!
Becky
I would paint a bedroom suit that was purchased in 1957 when I was a baby, yes I still have it. My paint tip would be for hand brushing, if you are painting something that will take more that 1 coat, you can put your brush in a zip baggie instead of washing it between coats, it can stay in fridge for several days if needed
Jennifer Jennett
I would probably paint everything I could get my hands on! My best tip is don't rush the painting, do a good job! I always have to restrain myself haha!
Shawna
I would paint lots rescued furniture with the sprayer
Heather
I would finally be able to redo my kitchen! We bought a HUD house and have redone it from basically studs out but the kitchen needs lovin. I would also paint the vanities and even get my new doors painted! Thank you for all your great work and ideas!
Becky Zorn
This would sure make things so much easier!
Sarah C
We will finally paint our antique church pews.
Caye Jeffrey
My husband & I are always going to auctions & purchasing items to repurpose & reuse. We would use this sprayer to help with that process. It would really help tremendously!!! Our tip would be to always keep the wand moving at a medium pace. Going to slow can cause runs and going to fast can cause low coverage. thank you for the opportunity to win this...it would be a life saver!!!
Jennifer
I would paint a chair I'm getting ready to reupholster... Right after I paint it ;-)..would be super quick and precise with this sprayer. My advice is don't buy new furniture.... Spruce up the old by giving it a touch of new paint... Sand it down and give it a new look 🙂 makes all the difference
Jessica Bumgarner
I also forgot to add that I love spray painting versus brush painting you get better coverage and can do it in half the time if I won it would get it's use that's for sure 🙂
Ashala
Love painting any and everything!
For the perfect stripes just paint over your tape some with existing wall color
Karla
Oh wow...I have a ton of furniture just waiting for me to paint it. My best painting tip is that I save the plastic bottles from my calcium supplements to save paint that I've mixed for small parts of projects. P.S. Thanks for the paint booth tips. They are great.

I would paint my patio furniture first!!! My dear husband did a...
Well... Far from nice looking... Job when he got the idea to turn our tan patio to a gray... Needless to say...
The majority of my patio furniture is still tan... Except for a very splotchy half of our swing.... This paint sprayer would make my summer!!!! (And every other season with more projects I plan!)
Sarah Hansen
I would paint some wrought iron patio furniture we have been talking about painting for the past couple years...
Meg Merkley
I use a big rubberband around my paint container to wipe off excess paint. NO DRIPS!
Lory Mendillo
I would use it to paint wicker items
Benjamin Gardner
I have built all of my furniture from found scrap wood and curbside rescues. Living on a budget makes you see other people's trash as an opportunity to make your own treasures. I would paint all of my creations to better match my decor. I have learned that prep work is what determines how well the paint job turns out. Clean and sand. Sand and clean. The better the prep the better the end results. I could really use the FinishMax.
Robin Klingensmith
Thanks to finding you on Facebook, you've inspired me to get creative and I'm hoping to do something with a few old wooden pallets laying around in the garage. This spring, I plan to get to work and I'd use the sprayer on whatever I come up with, as well as paint some deck furniture that is in pretty bad shape. Tip: point the sprayer away from you. Sorry, this would be my first time with one of these gadgets, so I've not learned any tips or tricks yet, but hoping to with your offer. Thanks for the chance to win.
ellen casper
Tip - take your time and don't use too much paint. Better to do multiple coats.
Sue
I would paint all the things I have been collecting just waiting to be painted!
Jessica Bumgarner
Omg I would love love love this!! I would use it every day! This is such an amazing giveaway!!
Cathi Ogden
I have several projects I have not completed as they need painting, including picture frames that I turn into mosaics. This sprayer would definitely help with that.
A good tip for painting is to wear your oldest clothes and keep you hair pulled up.
tabbi
That is such a great idea! And so simple. Can't wait to try it this summer
Malissa Manney
I have a modern model wooden highchair that I bought for my youngest child in 07'. I stored it in the garage for several years; It's taken a little bit of water damage and the finish is pealing, so I'd like to sand it down, repaint it, and make new cushions for it. Eventually I will give it as a gift to my first grandchild. My oldest child is 18 years old now, so I shouldn't have to wait for too many more years. lol Not to mention, the endless projects I could use that for....I have a diaper-changing dresser Id like to repaint and re-purpose as well! I'm thinking it would make a nice little kitchenette for my 6 year old daughter.

ellen casper
I'd paint my master bedroom furniture.
Barbara
I use so much spray paint! One of these would be great! I paint signs, craft projects furniture, etc. Best painting tip is to wear rubber gloves to keep your hands clean!
Kristin
Also, best painting tip- using the extender when using a brush. No brush marks!
Theresa L Hudson
love this site and would really like to win this sprayer for repurposing the baby bed I used for my daughter 27 years ago for my new grand child that is due in September.
Stephanie Jacobson
I would paint the repurposed benches I make from headboards-I love that each one is unique!! Thanks for the ideas and tips:)
Crystal C
I have some kitchen chairs and table that need painting, plus some pieces that belonged to or were built by my grandparents.
Sharon Walker
I've just started working with pallets. Using this instead of hand painting would make things oh so much easier!
Mary
I would paint the dresser I have had in my garage for 2 years!!
Holly Herman
If I won I would paint all my vintage doors I have stored in my shed. 🙂 My best tip is to take your time, and always do light coats.
Kristin
I would paint my "new" kitchen table. Needs a good face lift!
Amy McKendry
I'm just getting into repurposing! I'd paint the 3 chairs I'm making into planters, the 4 benches I've made from chairs, the pet bed/side tables I'm working on and the dresser that I'm making into a bench as well. Yep! I have lots of projects to do!! This sprayer would take care of all that lickity split!
Amy McKendry
Forgot my best painting tip.... Lock the kids and dogs out of the painting booth 🙂 Althought tail swipes and little finger prints give even the worst painting job character 😉
Barbara Brazell
Ive never used one but would like to try it !!! I have two projects waiting but im not sure what to do yet, one is an old coop screen door and other is a chest , just got the feet ( fence post tops ) on but at a loss on what color to paint it,,, I also have a Indian head carved out of a tree stump that I just can't figure out what to do with it,, thinking, thinking untill I get a headache lolol

I need to paint my vintage camper this spring and oh how this would make it so much easier
Cateasha Bowman

C Buxton
I would paint my dinning room furniture, mirrors, patio set and a lot more! A lot of this are all the bargains I picked up at sales over the years. Tip I would say to wipe off what ever your going to paint!
Julie McIver
My tip would be don't be afraid of color! You will be in love with your creation & it will always make you smile!
Julie McIver
If I won this sprayer I would finally paint the dresser @ vanity that was my grandparents 1st bedroom furniture about 80 years ago. So special so it needs special treatment!
Deb. Young
I have a dresser and a kitchen table I would paint
Debbie Olson
I would paint all my thrift store furniture projects as well any and all projects in our total home remodel.
Kelly Blount
Tip: Don't paint outside on a windy day!
Kelly Blount
I would start painting bedroom furniture, then patio furniture. The possibilities would be endless!
Cheryl Siciliano
I would use this for my dining room set. One tip I love is to use those spouts you can buy them at homedepot. It is a cover with a spout. No more drips. no screwdrivers to open cans.
Rachel
I have several dressers that desperately need to be painted!
alex
my best painting tip is to take the time to prep because fixing stuff takes three times as long (my husband is learning that the hard way 🙂 )
alex
i have a bunch of outdoor furniture that needs some love as well as all of our interior doors!
Lisa W
I would paint 2 corner cabinets I bought for my dining room that I haven't put in yet. Also my best tip, i discovered this last summer. Even though I knew it, it till didn't dawn on me.....when it is humid out.....DO NOT PAINT!!1!!
Ruth
I'm a newbie to all of the painting projects. Wow, this equipment would make me a pro in no time! Would love to win it and continue with painting anything I can get my hands on! 🙂
Candace
Oh, gee, was I supposed to write two separate comments for two separate entries? If so please count this one as my tip entry as it's above with my "what I would paint" entry. Sorry. Goofy.
Candace
I think the question would be easier to answer if asked "What WOULDN'T I paint with a paint sprayer?" It would be incredibly advantageous to use a paint sprayer to paint my newly acquired spool bed. I've painted similar wood carvings before and it's so difficult to cover all the curves, sides, and undersides of rounded carvings. Invariably I miss a spot OR I get too much paint on the brush and it globs and drips before I can catch it. It's a slow, slow process. Because of that I've been putting this project off as if by miracle something will make the job easier. This is a sign! A paint sprayer would help keep the paint layer thin and even and get into places I might miss with a brush. It would go so much faster!
Best tip: I didn't realize this until after many years of painting: If your paint is in a large (gallon) can, don't paint right out of the can. If possible, put the amount of paint you think you'll use in a bowl or other container. First, if you are painting outside, bugs are sometimes attracted to paint. If you paint over one by accident then dip your brush back into the can of paint or somehow the bug gets into the paint supply and dies, it'll contaminate all of it. After finishing your project, you'll naturally close up the can allowing the dead bug to rot. Open in up in a month or two and it will STINK to high heaven as the bug body(ies) have contaminated the whole supply. The smell is ghastly. Oddly enough, you can still use the paint and once it's dry it'll not stink, but I think it would affect the paint quality. I learned this the hard way. The can was only a month or two old. I took it back to the hardware store thinking they sold me a bad can of paint. (I've had that happen, too, be careful you don't get sold sale paint that was frozen!). Most of the hardware people had no idea why it stunk. Finally I found someone who asked if any bugs got into the paint. I swore that couldn't have happened. Later I remembered the bug encounter when little gnats were swarming around the fresh paint. I did go back to the hardware employee and thanked him for his knowledge. Live and learn. Really nasty smell!
Jill B
I would paint a ton of furniture with this (headboard, armoire, nightstand, hall tree, etc.).
Tina H.
Probably my bedroom furniture.. been considering giving it a makeover!
Dee
Wow could I ever use this, I have a headboard, a deacon's bench and a kitchen breakfast table that need to be refinished and painted.
One of my best painting tips is not to use plastic drop cloths in the house. If paint spills the plastic does not absorb on plastic. I end up stepping in the paint and tracking all over the house. I now use old sheets, curtains, [lined drapes work well or blankets.
phyllis henry
My best painting tip is to wrap your wet paintbrush in foil to keep it from drying out if you need to take a break!
phyllis henry
I would love to win this sprayer and have a loooooong list of projects to do!
Amy
the best tip I have is putting your paint brush or roller in a bag between painting so you don't have to wash it out every night.
Michelle Hagewood
I have a kitchen table and chairs that I would love to repaint so this would come in really handy if I were to win!
boylaneely at hotmail dot com
Madeline Dooley
Bought our 1st house & currently renovating, so lots of walls to paint & this would sure help a lot!!
Susie Heller
My best painting tip it to refrain from being in a hurry. Always get drips that way.
Susie Heller
Great product and much coveted by me.
Susie Heller
I would love to create a pro finish for all my repurposed items. Thank you again for this raffle.
ann
I have a chest of drawers and a small table that I think would look great with a little TLC. This would be great to finish them off and make them look full of life again.
candy kratzer
Love all of your tips, if you hate your neighbors and they have an ugly car, maybe you should spray paint on a windy day. lol My tip would be that do not be embarrassed to pick up a worn piece of furniture put out for the garbage. Be creative and turn something wonderful and useful out of it. Love repurposing and it keeps it out of our dumps.
Carol Roberts clark
my best painting tip dont over reapply to soon i did that and it was a mess just wait
Carol Roberts clark
id pain this old vanity that needs a whole makeover
candy kratzer
Love the spray booth. Even though I live in an apartment, I could easily set this up outside. I would love to repaint my china hutch which was handed down and seen better days. I am not afraid of color, so I would like to brighten it up but nothing too funky or fluorescent. Then I would move on to my patio furniture with bright beach colors.
Cassie K
I have an old dresser that was my brother's when we were kids. So, about 50 years old. I also have a kitchen table that I got at a thrift store. I'd love to paint both of these, and I subscribed to your site because I love the things that you do with your finds.
Melissa S
I'm not very good at painting, so I'm not sure I have a very great tip, but no matter how hard I try to not be sloppy, I always am. For me, taping is a must.
Question: I have been looking at paint sprayers, and am wondering what the biggest difference between the finish max and the titanium series. If I want to use this to paint a wall or two in my house, would one of the titanium series be a better option? I am looking for something that will mostly be used to paint furniture or molding, but occasionally a wall in my house here and there.
Melissa S
I have cabinets I (actually mostly my husband) built that have been waiting to be painted for weeks because I hate painting so much. I think I could enjoy painting so much more with one of these!
Mindi
I guess my tip would be to wear gloves, my hands always dry out when I am painting because I wash them so much! Thanks for the chance Gail! I do have one question, what is the difference between the command max and the finish max? Is there a difference? Have a great day!
Skip Morris
My favorite painting tip is to get someone else to do it. Unfortunately that isn't helpful. I will say preparation is key. Have all materials handy, surface to be painted is clean, your hands are clean, realize you will have some drips so be prepared to wipe them up. I also tap 4 holes in the top of my paint can to prevent paint buildup on the can. The excess drains back into the can.
Mindi
I would paint all the furniture on my back porch that is patiently waiting for me to paint!
Skip Morris
I'm turning an old headboard & footboard into a bench and painting by hand is quite tedious! The HomeRight sprayer would make it SO much easier!
Kelly D
I would paint a kitchen island that we will try to build this weekend.
Shannon Brey
My best painting tip would be using the dense foam mini rollers when you want a smooth finish!
Shannon Brey
I would paint my son's old dresser - it's been waiting for paint but I've been procrastinating!
Heidi Smith
YES! I know exactly how I would use this! I have been on a weight loss journey the past couple years and have lost 165lbs. I have 30lbs to go and I can begin reconstructive plastic surgery (and get ON with my life!!). My husband just retired last week from the Navy and I'd like to use this so that I can get a little extra income going without using up my gym time I so desperately need! I'd like to take a little pressure off of him to take a minimum wage job just so we can stay afloat too. This could help me A LOT. Painting with a brush is very time consuming and spray paint is expensive (not to mention I'm filling my garage with overspray dust. It would mean time for me to finish getting healthy and time for him to finally have a job where he's mostly home every night.
Heidi Smith
Oh and a tip 😀 Do not leave your spray paint sitting on the cold concrete in your garage! Turns out even if the room is warm enough to paint the actual paint in the can may not be! (Creates an orange peel like texture!)
Jess M
I would do the headboards I want to refinish for my kids and maybe the walls in our bathroom when we redo it??!!
Salie Belue
WOW an easier question to answer would be what won't i paint!! Recently bought a 100 year old house...rehabbing and decorating it gives me lots of projects to paint. My best tip...don't paint when its too windy, too hot, too humid, too cold...check your weather forecast!
Nick
I would paint my little girls new dresser! The one paint tip I have is multiple thin coats are better than one heavy coat!
Leslie Gill
I love checking in on your site to see what you're up to. There's always something new that give me inspiration! So, thanks for that. I have a metal bed frame that could use a new color. I am also looking out for a long dresser to
transform into an entertainment center and I want to paint it a purplish-blue color that I picked up on a paint chip. The Home RIght sprayer would make these so much easier. I also have 6 wooden dining chairs that need some serious updating with a new coat of paint 🙂 I would definitely put it to good use if I won. My best painting tip that I can think of is to put the paint in a five gallon bucket (instead of a paint tray) and use the screen you can put in the bucket when using rollers. It's so much faster and less messy than using those paint trays and easier to move around. I'm also very glad that you're feeling better. Don't scare us like that any more 🙂 Have a great day.
Mary A
I would paint the 2 outdoor chaise lounges my husband and I are making out of one indoor (and quite ugly) couch. It's in the final sanding phase now. 🙂
Sherry Tune
I would paint everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Amber
If I won, I would paint all pieces stored in my garage (chairs, tables, frames) that would take forever with a paint brush. I love the idea of using a sprayer and the almost limitless possibilities of colors that come with not having to buy spray paint. My favorite paint tip is: a light sanding to any piece before painting goes a long way in the final finish.
girlfromwva
Would paint my bi-fold doors (have all those slats)! best tip; make sure item is clean & dry before starting!!!
Christina McCann
I would probably paint everything including my dogs! haha
Angie W
would like to paint my kitchen chairs. my best tip don't skip the primer!
Kelly Neptune
I am in the middle of several projects! This "Finish Max sprayer would be perfect! Also I am tackling painting our home my self in the spring. My current projects include Pet beds from end tables, Play kitchens from Used entertainment centers, bench from a warped leaf of a table, repurposing a antique sewing cabinet and treadle into a sink w a mosaic hammered copper sink. ( the type that sits above the counter..its gorgeous!) I love your postings I need to start my own page as well but I'm always so busy!. And I need some new tools to be able to complete projects correctly...I jury-rig to get them done , meaning I find a way! lol...thanks for all the inspirations everyone!
rachel
What wouldn't I paint; my kitchen table, two end tables, the boys' old train table, all my old ugly florist vases, mason jars, and tons more craft projects! My best tip is to not be impatient and skip the prep work--the finish will be much better if you take the time to do it right and it will actually take less time if you are prepared!
Bree
I will be painting some furniture that will become a built-in in my sewing/crafting room!
Bree
And my best painting tip is to use a high quality roller, cover and brush and to make sure the cover is the right nap for the application. I have too often opted for cheap and been disappointed with the results.
Carol
I won't be painting as many things as you do but a paint sprayer would certainly make what I do easier. Thank you for all the spray painting tips.
Brenda
This would be amazing to have! I would definitely be inspired to paint more if I had this, and my first project would be my wicker outdoor set, and my Adirondack chairs. My best tip is to always be prepared before you start a project...you don't want to be in the middle and need something you don't have handy, and then have to stop what you're doing to go find/buy it.
Judy Wesol
I have this piece of furniture I got at a garage sale for $5. It has a gorgeous shape but it's a hideous gold/yellowy color. I have no idea what it's original use is because the top flips open/back on hinges. I'm going to use it as a big hamper. My tip is to not be afraid to use 2 colors on any piece because the extra detail really makes it stand out more. I'll paint the whole item 2 basecoats of white and then tape off the trim with GOOD painters tape, then add 2 coats of your "all-over" paint!
Tammy
I would love to win the Homeright Finish Max, I've become more involved doing cratfs after finding all of these blogs metioning this product but since I don't have that at this moment I've become a sray paint type of person and I tend to over spray, then it streaks.. not the look I was going for.. I would like to paint this little girls vanity and homemade desk (to make as a kitchen island) that I purchased at a thrift store
My best painting tip would be to "P"~ patient, PREP, PREP, PREP then paint. Can't stress that enough, I have learned the hard way.
Alli Price
I would love to win a sprayer! I would refinish and paint the furniture I have recently found at thrift stores! After graduating college in 2011, I worked two jobs so I could have my dream become a reality and I recently purchased my very first home and am excited to furnish it! Being a foreclosed home, it is definitely a 'project home" and I have a lot of work ahead of me but I am excited for its potential. I lvoe the idea of taking old (maybe a little run-down too) homes and turning them around. I am very strapped on money so I need to be smart on my purchases. I decided to go the thrift route in hopes that I will be able to pull some cute stuff off if I repaint. So far, I have found an end table and a dresser. I would start with those. Most of my furniture will come from thrift stores so the projects I could use the sprayer on are endless! My tip is to make sure to sand well before painting and watch for runs! If you are a beginner in refurnishing, pick simple pieces to get a hang of it. Once you have mastered that then move on to the pieces with a lot of cracks, patterns and details!:)
KathyG
I have four wood Adirondack chairs that Neeeeeeed stain or paint this year - got them last year but put it off, there are sooooo many little nooks and crannies in those things that brushing it on just tired me out before I even started! So yeah, I'd love one of these!
Rust
My best painting tip is to do all of your prep work completely ahead of time ....make sure you have all the supplies you need and all the prep work is finished.
Kathleen
Well, I have a few free pieces of furniture stashed while my house is being built, so I would definitely paint those! Thanks for the opportunity.
Rust
I have an antique dresser that I hope to refinish and paint.
Colleen Johnson
When I was little we had a corner cabinet in our Dinning room. White with an arched glass on the top door, and solid door on the bottom. My parents both died when I was young, (they were too). And I moved away several places. I was 11 the last time I saw that cabinet in 1973. Well about 2 years ago, my brother who has been in construction talked to the then owners of our old house, which they were going to tear down. My brother was able to get that cabinet from the old house before it was destroyed, and he gave it to me. I have never been happier to get something then I was that day. The problem was, someone painted it a bright RED!! I couldn't believe it......none the less I wanted it and I planned on refinishing it. As I said that was 2 years ago and it is still sitting in the garage waiting to be done. If I was to win the HomeRight FinishMax paint sprayer, that is the very first thing I would paint......I would love to get the piece done and in my house. I have been told since that my father and grandfather built the cabinet. So it has even more meaning and sentimental value to me now.
I guess the best tip I have....if your trying some new technic that you haven't tried before practice on scrap boards, or old paneling, or anything that is close to what your painting, and be willing to keep trying it again and again, if it don't look right the first time.
Thanks all
Terrie
I am getting ready to finish my basement and I am one of those rare people who do not want to finish the ceiling. I am forever changing my mind. Once the electrical, plumbing and HVAC are finished, I want to paint the ceiling, rafters and all, white. It will be easier to repaint than fix sheet rock and I abhor dropped ceilings. I love to paint but the secret for me to a good paint job is patience and preparation. Don't rush the start of your project - make sure your prep work is done first. And second, take your time and do it right - patience.
Shelby
I have some old picture frames I picked up at a yard sale that I will be repurposing that need to be painted. I've also been wanted to paint my sewing desk for a while and a sprayer would definitely make that less daunting.
I don't have a ton of experience painting so far, but I have certainly learned that it is important to tape lines well and to do several light coats instead of rushing and doing thick ones.
Nancy
I would paint a dresser and my tip is to wait until winter is over.
Nancy
Great idea for a paint booth, now I just need summer to get here.
Kay Stutes
I would love to learn to use a paint sprayer. I re purpose and paint lots of furniture. It would be great to have a sprayer for painting all the things with spindles, like chairs and the huge pieces like armoires.
Sheila
I would take all my interior doors out and paint them black. So chic! Best painting tip is if you are not finished with your brush you can put it in a plastic bag in the frig and use it the next day without cleaning!
Tiffany
I just bought my new home and have several repurposed furniture items that I am planning on painting, plus some newly built (by me) furniture items to paint, and the Home Right Finish Max sore yet would make this job soooo much easier!!! My best painting top would be to buy the highest quality paint you can afford-it's always worth it!!!
Kristin Warner
I've been doing a lot of projects lately, and they all could use a paint job!
Jennifer Kanell
Painting tip if the day....place your paint brushes in a ziploc in the fridge between coats instead of washing the brushes all the time. Also, the old saying you get what you pay for goes a long way with painting as well. I love the Purdy brushes. If I was lucky enough to win the FinishMax sprayer I would start off with a dresser I purchased at a yard sale for $5. I would love to save time painting so I could hang out with my two kids and husband!!
Mona Swanson
I will paint the dresser and table in my guest bedroom. Painting tip- give yourself plenty of time! A rushed paint job just means a do-over.
Kristen Wallen
Hi there!
I would start off by painting my horrid 80's dark oak kitchen cabinets then move on to every other room in the house.
Debra
I would like to paint my husband's old bed frame he used when he was a boy. It has great sentimental value---it is metal. I am also interested in recycling old furniture pieces. It would be so much fun to own a Homeright FinishMax.
Martha
My best painting tip - Don't use cheap brushes/rollers! You will regret it.
Donna in SC
OOPS! My painting tip would be to set up an assembly line operation for each color you are painting...that makes for one clean-up and a lot of projects finished in record time.
Martha
I have a set of chairs that have been in the garage for over a year that I would love to paint
Donna in SC
OK....Let's make this simple...what would I NOT paint?......Perhaps, my husband and the 2 cats..IF they can move fast enough to avoid my aim. Otherwise....EVERYTHING in sight could get a blast of paint!
Eileen
As a widow and recently retired, I have started doing a number of painting projects myself this past year. Always using a brush or foam roller, being sort of a "perfectionist" I never find the finish looking or feeling good enough. My husband was an industrial arts teacher and did beautiful woodworking ~ I would love my paint finishes to be as smooth as his wood projects were 🙂
MomQueenBee
I would paint the town!
Teresa Turner
I would use this regularly as a side job!!! I love to create!!! (My girls have inherited the gene as well!!!!)
Shmeetra Hoskins
I've starting turning an old entertainment center into a play kitchen for my daughter. I'd use the HomeRight FinishMax to get a smooth even coverage on it.
My best painting tip: Always test on an unseen area if working with a new material(ex. 1st time with plastic or metal)
Amy
I'd paint anything and everything I could.
Sandy A
I have several pieces of furniture to paint--including a drop front desk, rocking chair, drop leaf table, media/TV stand and a few more. My tip for painting is elevate your pieces so you can reach all around the piece--and take your time...
Korrie@RedHenHome
I'd love to paint my kitchen chairs!
Leslie K
Now I REALLY REALLLLY REALLLLLLY want a paint gun.....
Danielle
My paint tip is to take the time to prep for your project. Tape carefully, place your drop cloths carefully, sand well, and give your self enough time to do it right. 🙂
Danielle
I have a massive armoire to redo. The sprayer would be an incredible help!!!
My paint tip is to take the time to prep for your project. Tape carefully, place your drop cloths carefully, sand well, and give your self enough time to do it right. 🙂
shannon olson
My best tip is don't rush between coats, I have created a mess when painting over wet paint!
shannon olson
I am new to the vendor world and would love to use this on everything I sell!! I really want one, especially for difficult chairs.
Natasha J
small pieces that dont HAVE to match a theme. i like to just do in colors that i love (usually shades of pink or grey) 🙂

Theresa
Great idea
Abigail
I cant say I have lot of tips - but I did learn the hard way that my very fluffy dog must be kept far far away from drying projects!
Abigail
Id like to paint our patio furniture
Casey M.
We could really use this! My husband has just been certified in welding and he is doing projects all the time! We would both be able to use this! Thank you so much! Have a great day! I love your ideas and really enjoy your blogs!
Sharon @ Elizabeth & Co.
Thanks for sharing your paint booth tips Gail! Very helpful and fun to see where you work! I'm enjoying my sprayer very much!
Jessie Ratajczak
I would love to paint the old wooden fence around my back yard!!! Plus my dad and sister have a small business making pallet furniture- this one come in handy for different things!! 🙂
katie
I really need a FinishMax. I think it would make my life so much easier--its less hassle than the crazy large one we have! I think I would paint the furniture for the nursery using it if I won. We use a cardboard box when we have small stuff to paint... Love your large painting booth idea.
Wendy
I have a bench I would love to paint with this! I certainly learned I need to wear gloves when painting!!
Crystal @My Blissful Space
We're planning to paint our kitchen cabinets!
lynndy
That sprayer would be perfect to paint my "new" old chairs I am picking up this weekend from an online yard sale. Its an old tip but I always keep my roller & brush wrapped in Saran wrap in freezer until I have the project completed, I hate cleaning the brushes.
Carrie
I would start with my fence. Then I really want to paint my doors on my house
Kristen
My painting tip is invest in good quality brushes you really get what you pay for
Kristen
We just bought a new house and all the doors need painted. I'd love a sprayer for that perfect finish
Kelly Stenger
I would LOVE to win a sprayer! It would make my life so much easier so I could spend more time with my kids! Our main paint projects are the adirondack chairs that we build and custom paint. But just having it for primer for my cutouts would be great! And as someone who just rolled the ceiling from tan to bright white..... That sprayer has the rest of my ceilings' name on it!
Paint tip: Dont paint straight from the can. Pour small amounts into a Solo cup or coffee can (or whatever) so that you don't contaminate the bigger can and also don't waste as much paint.
Leslie
I buy old junked up furniture and then paint by brush to re-sell in my antique booth. Having a sprayer would make my life insanely better!
Carol
First let me say I LOVE your blog and look forward to it every day! I would give anything (well except my first born) to win this sprayer. I have at least 3 rocking chairs that need to be painted and numerous other items. I currently make small wooden items and have nailed large nails half way through boards to put these items on to dry after I paint them!
Sharon Beal
I have never used sprayer but so excited to learn.
I have Duncan Phyfe china cabinet, 2 dressers from
1970's with a lot if detail work, and 1970 headboard.
I'm so excited to read everyone's tips on painting
Teresa
Oh my I have been wanting one of these simply forever. I refinish and repurpose furniture and other things constantly doing it all by hand so therefore I won't even try big pieces. I would love this.
Tip: Make sure the surface you are painting is clean before you start. Nothing like having dirt or dust show up after painting.
Michele @ The Scrap Shoppe
I have a TON of furniture I want to paint. This would make it so much easier!
My best paint tip is to sand between coats. You get such a smoother finish!
Mendi Fayal
Best painters tip....use clear caulking along painters tape to keep the paint from bleeding under areas when you need a crisp clean line. Works especially well on heavy knock down walls 🙂
Lindsay
This would make short work of all the furniture I have been redoing. I find a quick coat of paint in a fun color is the perfect way to update a room with the furniture I already have and love. Then stencil on top of it and you have an amazing piece!
Sharon
I actually asked for a sprayer for Christmas!!! I didn't get one. I have so many projects that I have wished for a sprayer. This would make my crafting and repurposing life so much richer, not to mention quicker!
Mendi Fayal
I will be painting the pallet wall in my living room that I have been wanting to build. Not to mention all of the other unfinished little furniture projects that I have picked up while out Yard Selling! My favorite past time and the best shopping out little rural town has to offer 🙂
Ellen T.
I have quite a bit of furniture that I was given from my late uncle's house. I'd love to paint some of it.
Thalia Cox
Use painters tape to make sure you don't paint over a spot you don't want. Painters tape also good for patterns.
Tasha Bantau
We will be moving to another state very soon. In the meantime, I've been collecting projects. All of these will need to be painted...coffee table, end table, dresser and armoire. This sprayer would really handy!
Best paint tip...take your time. Don't rush your project so you make sure you have painted evenly.
Tracye
This would make my life infinitely easier. I've had my eye on one for a couple of months now....
Thalia Cox
I would repaint my daughter's bedroom furniture.
Amy Goodson
My best painting tip is.....use vaseline on your hands before touching the paint or anything to do with it. I find even with a sprayer I get paint on my hands. I use a small amount and work it in like lotion and under my nails. After painting it is super easy to wash away any paint that has gotten on my hands because the vaseline creates a barrier.
Ellen Trammell
I have a dresser that I'm converting to a kitchen island. I plan to paint it red to coordinate with my kitchen color scheme.
Deena
I have two wrought iron plant stands i inherited from my Mother-in-Law that I need to paint and this paint booth is perfect for the job!
Jackie
My paint tip is take the time to prepare with painters tape.
Terri Jones
I am working on creating my own craft room, since both of my daughters have moved out or gotten married. I would use the paint sprayer to paint my new work table to begin with, and I have no doubt that I would be able to find many other objects around the house that could benefit from a fresh coat of paint.
Tip: You can take just about anything to the Home Depot paint department and they can color match paint for you. We took a stuffed monkey in, and they color matched the color on his tail for the paint me and my daughter wanted to use to paint a stripe in my grandson's room. It matched perfectly.
Bliss
I have an ex brother in law who has gotten rich going around the country selling some sort of something that has to do with big paint booths. Too bad I don't know what it is.
Jackie
Would like to try a dresser first then maybe cabinets!
Angie @ Knick of Time
I really need to get a paint booth set up in my basement - thanks for the tips, Gail!
Wendy
My favorite painting tip: When using brushes or rollers for a multi-day project, store them in zipper bags instead of cleaning them daily. It's okay, even in our dry environment, for the handle to stick out; just close the zipper the best you can and fold the bag around the item to keep most of the air out.
Julie
I'd love to have one of these. It would make painting projects so much easier
Daniele Banks
I love to repurpose and am always on the hunt for my next project! Right now my projects are endless and time is limited ( but who's isn't )! A spray paint gun would be awesome I could redo my son's bed and my little boys train table, then the patio furniture, then the multiple frames lying around, not mention the kids desk, island, stool, book shelf... Need I go on! My number one paint tip is clean your surface and always tarp the space you plan to paint in! Happy painting!
Nichole
I would love to win this! I would paint countless things to decorate my new house but would mostly love to try it out on a table I received for Christmas. This would make it sooo much easier!
Cathy Lane
I've got a house to get ready to rent and it needs the kitchen cabinets painted. I need to paint several wooden kitchen chairs to make them ready for our new house. Love to try spraying, not brushing.
Wendy
I would paint two blanket chests that are currently in our living room. Cool paint booths, Gail!
Gwen
Forgot my best painting tip! When I could paint...I would take my light colored leftovers and mix them together to see what color I had. I took it back to Home Depot where they would help me get a good color with what I had. Always worked!
Rochelle
I have two vintage telephone tables that I need to paint and I shudder at the thought of doing it by hand! This sprayer would save me a lot of time!
Gwen
I NEEEEEED this!!! Perfect for sprucing up some furniture for my daughter's college dorm...then I have some things I have been dying to do for me! Illness keeps me from holding a paintbrush, so a sprayer would be perfect!!
Brooke D.
what wouldn't I paint??!!! Right now I have a curvy nightstand and vintage dresser, both I rescued from the curb on trash day in my neighborhood. They both are in need of a good paint job, I'm thinking maybe a turquoise or aqua color for the pair with gold accents! Hmmm...paint tip.....if you aren't done with a project and you are using rollers or brushes, wrap them in a plastic grocery store bag and store them in the fridge, pull them out when you are ready to finish painting and it saves you from wasting paint.
Diane
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Another chance to win. If I were to win a Finish Max I would clear out the garage of all my 'pending' projects and go to town on them. First the dresser, then the vanity, next the bookcase. Who knows where it might end?
As for a painting tip: I like to use leftover ceiling paint as a primer. It provides a really flat surface that holds the top coat and it's free.
Lynne E.
I would paint a mid-century dresser that has been in my family for years. It's in great shape, but it's blah, and needs some personality.
Lynette
I would paint some pallets for a project .
heather f
I like to paint old arm chairs and fix them up. I might even paint my husband. He's getting a little grey!
Tammy
I have never used a paint sprayer so I have no tips to offer 🙁 This could be my chance to start 🙂 I have a broken crib that I'm going to "repurpose" into a dog gate like Gail @ "My {re}purposed life"!! This sprayer would save me so much time!
Carrie Eastman
I would paint all large sized items!!!
Brenda
I just bought an old dresser and I'm turning it into an entertainment center. Also, some other pieces could use a good paint job.
Painting tip: Spend the time needed to prep. It makes all the difference in the finished project.
JoAnn Dinwiddie
Love your ideas!!!! Have you used this sprayer for painting house? Hubs wants to know about using under eves, etc.
gail@myrepurposedlife.net
JoAnn
I have not used the FinishMax to paint a house. It's a fine finish sprayer, more for furniture and such. HomeRight has other options for such a project. 🙂
gail
Tracey Weaver
My best painting tips would be to take your time and to make sure you don't get your hair in the paint... It has taken me weeks to get it all out.
Tracey Weaver
I would probably paint everything in sight. But I do have two dressers that need redone for my daughter!
Lora Anne M
My painting tip is if all possible let someone who loves to spray paint do the job. lol I'm not good at spray painting but my dad is and likes to do it so I save paint projects for when he visits if I can wait.
Tami
Love all your projects! For my first project I would paint my bedroom furniture that is from the 70's but so well built.
Love to repurpose furniture!
Daisy M Lopez
I'd do two kitchens. I am helping my parents get their current home and a rental they own ready for sale. I've fine cabinets before by hand and I've been dying to try a sprayer.
As a tip, I like to add Websters chalk paint powder so I increase the coverage of my paint and the adhesion. I use less and often can skip priming. If I was going to add poly it wax as a top coat anyway, even better!
Lora Anne M
I have several projects I need to paint---outdoor dining set, living room end table, hand me down stools in kitchen, grandma's old cookie tins to make matching cookie cutter storage etc.
Ashley
The best painters tip -- don't skimp on painters tape! I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for 🙂
chris from midwest cottage and finds
Furniture-Furniture-Furniture! It would be sooo nice to use on chair spindals, dresser drawers, anything for that matter!!
chris
lesley
i have a sofa table that is a pretty color of blue but whoever did the chalk paint didn't do a very good job. i would love to repaint it to use in my crafting room.
Ashley
My first project would be spraying my dining room table chairs -- they are in serious need of a fresh coat of paint!!
Rhonda R.
Best painting tip I have is THIN coats!!! This avoids the runs in the paint and less rework on the back end.
Rhonda R.
I would paint my farmhouse counter stools I just bought off of Craigslist!!!
Pam Proctor
Love your site and the dropcloth attached to fence paint area!!! I would love a paint sprayer! Our house is in need of a good coat or two of paint!
JoAnn Dinwiddie
Would love to paint wood breakfast table and hutch. Still very nice looking but we have had it for 40 years. Have been too chicken to try it. Love the idea of the plastic on fence for spraying. We do have to wait for calm days here in Oklahoma. The giveaway is wonderful!!! Could put it to good use for sure!
Renea
I have two older dressers that I have been wanting to paint black. I have tried to paint older furniture before but when I am finished I am not to happy with the results. This sprayer would really be nice to have when I want to paint the dressers. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Jeannie McCormick
If I win the Finish Max I will paint everything I can get my hands on 😉 including my shed and signs for my art booth. Tip: When painting, spray a 50/50 overlap for even coverage, starting each stroke before the edge of the project and ending after the edge of the project to prevent puddling and drips, spray as many coats as it takes to achieve hiding.
Dianntha
I would love to own a paint sprayer. I paint furniture also but I do it all by hand. I just started a small business in Oct. so it would be of great help. My best tip is don't forget to prime and sand both help with a great finish. Dianntha
Vicki
ok.....if I could delete or edit my posts I would...sorry.....my tip is WEAR GLOVES!!...oh and shoes you don't care about, paint falls 🙂
yes...from experience.
Jill
How hard/time consuming is it to clean?
gail@myrepurposedlife.net
Jill,
It is so easy to clean if you do it outside with your garden hose. Only a few parts to dismantle/clean. I have a video showing how to clean it on the HomeRight site. you can see it on my site here: https://www.myrepurposedlife.com/2012/04/video-tutorial-commandmax-fine-finish.html
gail
Holly
Great tips! It is on my list of projects to find and set up a place for a paint booth!
Vicki
ooops!.....What I would paint is this oooold vanity I have in my foyer. It is beautiful but needs a re-do!
Vicki
Love all your project ideas!! Especially love the paint booth! My husband wants to kill me every time I paint!!
PDavis
I need to refinish my 1950's iron patio set inherited from my mother in law. The sprayer would be the best way to get it done!!!
Chris Bures
My best painting tip . . . hmmm . . . I would say be prepared before you start. Look at what you are doing, the weather, the time, the space you are painting(time it is available), the whole project big or small.
Jarrd
I am looking for a Hoosier cabinet to put into our kitchen and I am not going to be able to buy one already done so I plan on getting one in need of a little TLC. I would love to have one of these to use on that project as well as an old door that my work was throwing out. It has all the old hardware on it except the old skeleton key,
My wife would love to use this in our kitchen when we get to the point of repainting the cabinets and the walls also. It would be a big help!
Chris Bures
Thank you for the pics of your paint "room" . . . my husband will love that since I have painted cars, driveways, porches . .. : / ! I would repaint my kitchen table chairs first as they are in the most need of a new paint job. I would love to win this but your tips are so very helpful too! Blessings.
Pam Hughart
oh there are so many things to paint, first would be my rod iron lawn furniture, summer is coming, although it is snowing today, pls bring sunny and 75 soon, the access doors to the crawl space would be next, a wooden planter that my grandfather made for me would be in the line up as well, and then there are the wooden benches in the flower beds.......oh so many things, oh yes, I would love to win!!!
Victoria Schuster
We moved into our first house this past October. I have spent many hours with a paint brush and roller in my hand to finish the first floor. This spring/summer I am turning my attention outside and get the ready to entertain friends and family. My projects include to paint the porch swing I got for Christmas, the legs to the tables and benches I am making for our back porch and my dad gave me my great-great-great grandma hand pump that I plan to attach to a post. The HomeRight FinishMax would be used for these projects and many more projects I have to finish the second and basement to our house.
Stephanie
I would start with my wicker furniture, and move on to dressers after that! I have no tips cause I am terrible at painting!
Michelle Gorman
I have so many pieces in my home this would be perfect for. I would love to win this! Thanks for the great tips, my Dad does a lot of outdoor painting year round. I am def going to share this post with him!!
Val
I have many things to paint but I'd start by paining a picnic table that needs some sprucing up! My best painting tip is to always wear clothes you have specifically for painting-so many times I spend a lot of time trying to wash off misplaced paint- if I had on my painting clothes it wouldn't have mattered and that time washing would of been used doing something productive.
Yvonne Allen
I bought this GIANT piece of furniture (8' tall and 8 ' long) with lots of drawers, drawers and shelves. The sprayer would help me get this project going! It's a bit overwhelming!
Jodie Sampson
Love it! Thank you!
Beth D.
Great tips! Next week I'm inheriting 3 old courting chairs (you know, with the green velvet seats?) and have already gotten permission from my dad to paint them & change out the fabric. There is some pretty ornate carving on the backs, so spraying would be a great way to refinish them! That would be my first project, but so many others are waiting in the wings!
Rachel Kennedy
Well...I think I would paint everything! I love to redo roadside finds, so this would go a long way in helping with those!
Susanne
I have several doors, pallet pieces and many other projects to paint. Thank you for the fabulous giveaway.
Jessica Menard
To have a sprayer would be a blessing! My passion is to bring new life to old and ugly furniture! I would use it for all my projects and it would speed up the project time... I would absolutely love it! As far as painting tips i cant say i have any i am farely new to the repurporsing life!
Karin
My favorite tip is to use a hold punch on the lip of a paint can so the paint will drip back in the can after pouring. Just have to make sure that the holes will be covered by the lid.
Christine E. Fuller
Inspired by an opportunity to win a HomeRight Sprayer, I'll paint my Kitchen table FIRST! I painted 4 old dining chairs given to me by my BFF last Fall with 8 spray cans, which took 2 days! Whew! Painted the chairs "grape" (dark lavender). I KNOW, exciting! I have been saving for a French Provençal tablecloth that's yellow-gold with lavender flowers accent. However, if I win a wonderful new HomeRight, I'll paint the table yellow-gold & hand paint the little lavender flowers. I'm INSPIRED! Thanks for the opportunity!
Karin
I would love this! Means I can refinish more furniture and drive my husband crazy at the same time.
Erin
I would probably lose my mind and paint anything not nailed down. But, I have a set of shelves that need a better paint job, then some wood projects, my wedding crafts could use a better paint method.
My best paint tip is to Prime... It's a step too many people skip.
Monica
I have my daughter's bedroom furniture that I bought from a habitat restore that I would paint as my first project! Would love to have this!
Melonie Glienke
I have a few wicker things that I want to repaint (the canned spray paint is chipping). And I have my grandma's old bed frame that I want to make into a corner bench like you did for my mom.
Nancy
I am just getting started decorating my new house and new life to suit me. There are lots of projects to do and this would be great to use and to add to my tool list- which so far consists of a drill and jigsaw. Oh, I do have a cannonball headboard and footboard waiting to become a bench.
Shalon Day
I have 4 pieces of furniture that I have gathered up to refinish and would be painting those and cannot wait to get started!!!!
Lin Shultz
I meant Lego dresser. Sometimes auto correct is frustrating.
Laura Cochran
I have about 20 pieces of furniture I've collected that I want to paint!
Sandra
I have a coffee table that I would love to paint, this would be perfect to get the job done
Lin Shultz
I would love this sprayer. I would repurpose an old dresser into a Leyla dresser like the one you made. My grandson would LOVE it.
Cindy
My best paint tips are white vinegar for cleaning and do it right away while everything is still wet. Also, if you are going to go right back in a couple of hours and paint a second coat or paint more, cover the roller, tray, paint brushes in plastic and then tin foil and put them in the freezer. Take them out about 10 minutes before you are ready to start and you are good to go!
Shannon Gould
We are going to finish our attic and I'd love it to paint some old furniture to freshen up the space!
Cathi Lekowski
I was just given an inexpensive barristers bookcase. I would like to paint the inside red, the exterior black and restain the wood around the glass a med. brown. And if that works out well; I would like to redo my dining room table and hutch!
Jacki Anderson
I have been hoping to make some shelving pieces using pallets. I also have a few wood patio chairs that I'd like to repaint. My tip for painting is one I learned from a good friend: old sheets make great dropcloths. The paint doesn't stay wet on them like it does on plastic, and they lay nice an flat.
Jackie
I would paint lots of furniture to sell in my business and for my home. Headboards, crates, tables, frames and more. In my house my hall way first and then anything that needed it. I'd share it with friends
Sue
The first item I would paint is my granddaughters "new" bed. Then watch out..... nothing would be safe.
JoeyfromSC
My best painting tip to clean your brushes (if you're not lucky enough to have this sprayer lol), is to boil plain cheap white vinegar, then soak the brushes in an old bowl/jar with the boiling vinegar...then wash in warm soapy water, rinse & let dry:) works well!
staci cass
Going goo goo ga ga thinking I might win!
lynn
I would start with our office. we have a spot that the paint came off in a square, do not like the color the room is so need to do the whole room. make sure the area you paint in is well ventilated. we painted items in the basement and that was a bad idea.
Phyllis
I have 3 doors that need painting & a table.
Judy Smith
If I won I have several pieces I would paint, starting with an old dresser! My best painting tip? TAKE YOUR TIME! Getting in a rush always makes a mess.
Meari
I have a set of chairs I'd like to spray paint... oh an a couple of benches. Great ideas for the paint booth! My suggestion is to use light strokes and don't be in a hurry. Running paint doe not look pretty!
JoeyfromSC
I have a huge long dresser/chest I'd love to paint white with this sprayer!
Thanks so much for the chance to win!! Love the idea of your paint booth!
Joey J.
Sharan
I would love to use this for my painting projects. I am starting to make things from pallets and I will soon have my first dresser turned media cabinet so this would come in real handy!
Vicki Sutton
I would paint my deck furniture that I've had for 15 years. My best and most important tip is wear a mask and always have good ventilation.
Kathy Priddy Jackson
I have had a habit of painting everything in sight as long as I can remember. I can use the paint sprayer more than you can imagine starting with my farmhouse floors!
MARTHA COWAN
I REPAINT OLD FURNITURE FOR A HOBBY OR SECOND JOB. IT WOULD MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER.
ellen ross
the wooden dresser in the hallway for sure!
Stephanie
I would paint our dressers and bookshelves. They have that '80's dark pine look and I have wanted new ones forever, but that costs money that we don't have right now. I saw a dresser on HomeTalk that was repainted and had new hardware and it looked amazing. Now THAT I can afford to do (with a paint sprayer, lol).
Vicki sutton
I would paint some storage boxes I'm making for my grandchildren
Jody Wolf
I have been wanting to start a small side business updating old/outdated furniture. This would help me get started on the many projects piling up in my garage. I have a dresser, 2 side tables, a sideboard table and bookcase with glass doors. I would LOVE this paint sprayer!
Katy
I would paint my dining room chairs
Stacey
My grandma's old dining room set that I inherited about 14yrs ago. It Includes a table, six chairs, china hutch and buffet. It's absolutely beautiful, I've been dragging my feet painting it just becuase it'll be so time consuming.
Sandy Metzger
If I won a Home Right Max Fine Finish Sprayer, I would take in the Lego Table project! That was tooo cute! (We have 4 grand kids!) Hubby would definitely build me a paint booth. Cleaning tip: ALWAYS clean all your supplies immediately after using them. Keeps them in good working order and ready for your next project.
Tracy Latarski
I have a lot of projects that need to be accomplished with this bad boy. First Grandbaby on the way and lots to prepare!
Jennifer
I would first paint my dining room table and chairs. they are a 70's old dark wood. then I would probably paint everything I could get my hands on!!!
lisa
I live in an old warehouse right now and would use this to paint the bathroom walls. I used a roller to paint the concrete floor, but a sprayer would definitely speed things up since the walls are brick and mortar. I've found that the beetles and spiders avoid the painted areas (which makes shower time a bit more pleasant). A tip? Check out the "mis-tint" area at your local home improvement store for good deals on paint for small projects.
Adrienne H
I am a creative type who has always made cards, homemade gifts, etc. I am venturing out and updating my house as a DIYer. I have great pieces, but they need to be "repurposed"! First project - living room set of 7 pieces will be transformed from knotty pine to a two-layered paint job with some sanded corners. Can't wait to get started!
Theresa Hutchison
The best painting tip I ever received is the one my boyfriend gave me. Start with a good quality paint brush and TAKE CARE OF IT. Wash it out very well, blot it dry with a towel, then give it a GOOD spin between your palms, back and forth. Get as much excess water off of it as you can. Put it back in the folded cardboard "envelope" it came in and let it dry. As the paint brush dries it will retain it's shape, will not collect dust, and will be protected from dust and chemicals. When you get ready to paint again, it's just like new. Always store your paint brushes in their folded "envelopes".
Sarah M
I would paint my kitchen cabinets white...
Aleisha Rambusch
I'd have to say is the best painting tip is to have patience. I'm impatient and tend to do thicker coats, which can run and cause you more work. I end up taking more time getting it right trying to fix my mess than if I'd just do thinner coats.
Dana Nolan
If I won this painter, I would paint my old antique dresser that I used as a girl! They don't make furniture like they did years ago! It's a beautiful piece that just needs some new love!
Theresa Hutchison
The first thing I thought of... I hate to say it... I could paint my MOTORCYCLE!!!! And because it's so nifty I could also paint my shelving project I've been working on. The ceilings I look at and have bad dreams about... I just dread to even begin those... Can you say "there's a crick in my neck"? After that I started thinking about how I need to start paining the interior doors... I hate to think of how long it takes to paint doors with a brush. And then I realized that if I don't win this thing I may just have to buy it!
Aleisha Rambusch
I'm working on redoing an old sewing table into a side table and would love a sprayer to paint it. I love the paint booth idea. As I read this post, my mind is trying to figure out where I can put one.
Cathy Meadows
I am building a bench and two large planters out of 2 x 4's and have been looking at spray painters since there are so MANY boards to paint. This would make my project easier and quicker and I could get to building the matching storage chest!
Tasha
Best painting tip I have learned is wear gloves while painting to prevent stained hands. And also wear a plastic cap of your head to prevent any paint from getting in your hair :)! I'm in the process of redoing my toddlers room and this would be perfect to repaint her dresser!!
Doris Henson
Every piece of furniture in my house needs painting.....so furniture it would be. 🙂
angela
If I had the homeright sprayer I would finally paint the buffet I have been ignoring in my dining room. I have been wanting to paint it for over a year now but it would require a lot of work the old roller and brush way.
angela
I forgot my best painting tip... It would be to go ahead and buy the better quality brush. I know you think that it probably doesn't make a difference but it does, and if you are planning on keeping your project around for awile you want it beautiful.
Trina Twomey
I would use this for all my arts and crafts which are 2 many 2 list ... It looks simple and easy Love it
Leslie
A good tip is to start with good quality paint. It may cost more initially, but worth it in the long run.
Leslie
Painting chairs with a paintbrush is often difficult. I have 4 kitchen chairs and one living room chair I would paint with the Homeright sprayer.
Shelly Golden
Forgot to mention my "best painting tip" in my previous post.... PREP... although I personally don't care for this part of the process (I'm impatient and want to PAINT), I have come to realize that good prep work can make ALL the difference in the outcome of my project.
Shelly Golden
I've recently gotten into painting "old" furniture, which usually consists of spindles or a LOT of crevices. I've never used a sprayer, but think it would make this process a lot less "painful". Love this blog, it's inspired me to try new things on a regular basis, I regularly look forward to the next post!
Leslie Ropelato
A great tip for painting any project is give yourself enough time and prep your space (get all of your materials you need ahead of time) this will prevent running back and forth for items during a paint project. Also, don't over coat when painting. It's better to have multiple coats and avoid the trip look!
Leslie Ropelato
I love these tips. I have a room in my basement that had a water leak but before my husband reprints and lays new carpet, we decided to turn it into a spray/paint room for the winter. I would love to win the sprayer - the finish looks professional and it saves so much time. I'm finishing up a remodel in my home and need to spray my dining table and chairs, console and side tables! To add to that project I'm also 7 months pregnant and using all used furniture I'm upcycling in the nursery! I would love to not have to do this all with a brush.
Thanks again for the tips!
Anna Seltzer
What a great giveaway! The first thing I would paint are some wooden organizers that I have been planning on painting and then move on to repurposed furniture. Would recommend if you narrow your choices of paint down to 2 colors and can't decide which to try 1st use the lighter one. This would make it easier to cover if you didn't like it and decided to use the darker shade after all.
carol Hall
I would paint my lawn furniture for sure. My best painting tip... don't ask my husband to help you'll regret it!
Jenny B
I would love to have a paint sprayer! 😀 I have a triple bunk bed to paint as we speak! I'd love to bread a sprayer in on this project!! 😀
Jenny B
My best tip? Have fun! 🙂
Emily
I am always spray painting furniture and I have some pieces I would finish in my garage. A new paint sprayer would certainly be handy!
Staci Wightman
I need to repaint some old lawn chairs that I use in my beauty salon. I was wondering how to go about this. A Homeright sprayer would be wonderful!!! So far I have just been taking things out on the lawn and spray painting. A paint booth is a great idea!! Thanks for sharing these tips. My best painting tip? It is only paint. If you don't like it paint it again! That is what is so wonderful about paint. You can change it anytime you like.
Delton Taylor
I would use the Finishmax sprayer to paint small to large items of furniture and ornaments, for a professional even coverage. My best paint tip is to leave a large elastic band round a tin of opened paint from the bottom the open mouth to quickly wipe off excess paint on the brush instead of the mouth of the tin where buildup can occur and stop you from resealing the lid
Bert Rutherford
I would love this! I have so many projects to paint I'm not sure where to start, but I have a metal dresser and a very unique filing cabinet that are going to be painted multiple bright colors to use as planters in the yard. It's time to get started for spring planting!

Be patient and if you get frustrated, go do something else until you can find your patience once more. Don't let a project intimidate you, if you make a mistake all you have to do is paint over it. In the wise words of Bob Ross: We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents. 🙂

I forgot to state what I'd paint, oops! I'd paint furniture and might even see what it does on a giant canvas, maybe gesso. Would love to play with and see what all I can paint with it.

I need help with painting projects. I love the end results, but I am so messy and disorganized!

I would paint ALL of my projects with this sprayer. Everything from furniture to kids' toys. Spraying is the best flawless painting technique. When I use spray paint for smaller items, I place the item in an extra large cardboard box to use as a " mini spray room".

I am always looking for projects to work on! This would really come in handy with a chest I am working on and future ones too! Would love to win, it would really make a difference because I tend to get paint everywhere!
