Reclaimed Picket Fence

Have you seen the projects I’ve made from all this old picket fence I saved from the burn pile? Seriously, why would anyone throw out all of this yummy fence wood?

Scrap Picket Fence Pieces

I had these pieces left over after making the potting bench above. I used some to make the coat rack but still had a few left over. Aren’t these going to be perfect for my mason jar vases?

Then I remembered seeing this great mason jar wall sconce from Elizabeth & Co.

Automotive Hose Clamp

I have a lot of junk in my stash, but I didn’t have any of these automotive hose clamps, so mine were purchased new.

I wasn’t able to find the set of clamps that Sharon used, so I bought three of them separately from Home Depot. They were too large, so I had to cut quite a bit off the end. After fitting them to my jars, I snipped off the ends with my tin snips. Then, I marked where I needed to drill my hole.

Mark and Drill a Hole to Attach the Clamp to the Picket

I drilled the hole into the metal using a scrap piece of wood. This will allow me to attach the clamp to the mason jar vases.

I attached the clamp to the whitewashed picket scrap with a screw.

Secure Mason Jar

Finally, I attached the jar by tightening the clamp, but not too tightly.

A “d” ring allows it to be hung on a wall or fence. I buy these in bulk on Amazon.

Mason Jar Picket Fence Vase

These mason jar vases are very versatile. You can use them indoors or out. Would you use flowers or candles?

A little sand helps elevate a candle.

This mason jar has been spray painted blue, then lightly sanded with an emery board to allow the light of a candle to glimmer through the words. Of course, I used picket fence pieces, but you could use any reclaimed wood, especially old pallet wood!

I think these would be great for an outdoor party or wedding!
