White chippy shelf for indoors or outdoors

I like this idea for potted plants because excess water can drain out of the slats...especially on rainy days....

Excellent point Michelle! Thanks for stopping by to check out my project.

How clever! I love it.

Impatient Gail sounds a lot like impatient Becky! I like the shelf on top and then adding hooks along the bottom shutter. It would be so cute with colorful potted plants on it!

Oh, thanks for the inspiration!! I just saw some old shutters in my barn and was wondering what to do with them next. Now, I know!! 🙂

This is wonderful. I have several large shutters in my Workshop (storage building) that I needed some inspiration on. This will be one of them.
p.s. on a different computer to access google and got a gmail account like you suggested!
Thanks, Betsy

I love it both ways too, but being ornery I'll choose the shelf down mode, as it isn't getting as many votes!
Great job on this quickie. I will have to make me some of these!

It looks fabulous!
I'm not really sure which way I prefer better, I love it either way.
Have a great week!

I love that it can be hung different ways. Actually, I was thinking itd be cute hung up in the corner (of either a bathroom, guest room or living room) of a room and used as a magazine rack. You'd just drape each one over a rung.
The other thought I had was to hang it high up in a laundry room with the shelf on the top; then place S hooks on the rungs and you can hang wet items on the rings to dry.
Have a great day!

I love this -- great job! This idea has been on my "Projects to get to" List for some time, but I think it needs to move up (I think I just work too slowly or something). I like it shelf on top with hooks below, but your hang outside for drainage idea is brilliant.

I like!!! This may be just the idea I need for the bifold doors I trash-picked a few weeks ago. =)

How great is that! You should be so proud of yourself! It looks GREAT!

Gail - you never fail to amaze me! I am totally copying this idea & I have the perfect place to put it... Thanks!

Hi ~ I'm new to your blog & love everything about it! Your shelf is wonderful. I would hang it w/the shelf on top. You could also attach some hooks along the bottom to hang stuff. :o) You are mega creative!

I did in fact recognize the other pieces from the crib table! Great job ... the shelf is gorgeous. And I love the blue paint peeking through. 🙂

Creepy... I have two white shutters in the basement that I was just telling Jason I was going to do the same thing you did with. (holy run-on sentence, batman!) I love it with the shelf on top and the back and brackets facing down. Love!
Coleen's Corner
Well now, I think that is the most beautiful thing I've seen today! I'm thinking something that adorable would have to be in my house! If it turned out to be too large as a shelf, I would hang it vertically in a corner and hang a plant from the brace. Awesome job!
Always Nesting
Oh, I love this and it would look so good hanging from my fence. I've just recently told hubby that I need to decorate our fence. Of course, he thinks I'm nuts but that's ok, he's used to my ideas then loves them once completed 🙂 I'd hang it as a shelf with the bars underneath. Oh la la!
Renee
Love it, you are such an inspiration! I love seeing your creations.
Cassie @ Primitive & Proper
as usual a great idea! what i love is that it would work well outside because of the slots- the water would fall through rather than sit on it. it would be ther perfect shelf to go above a potting bench- love it!

Oh what a cool piece! When the shelf is on the bottom, it makes me want to see it with table legs on it, as an entry table, decorative potting bench, or smaller sofa table. So cute! Oh, and when the shelf is on top, it looks like an adorable wall shelf to hang - anywhere!
Wow, love pieces with such variable use applications, too much fun!

That is so cool..I like the shelf on top!

Awesome job! I'm a little off right now but you inspire me so very much!

The shelf looks great on the fence. I like it with the supports going down.
I'll be watching for some shutters to make one for the front of Grampy's shed. It would be great under the window with a couple of pots of geraniums on it.

This is darling! Love it! Another great repurpose!
