Do you remember these frames I had leftover from my yard sale? I’m going to show you easy dry erase ideas for picture frames!

Yard Sale Picture Frames

Originally I only pulled out a few of the many frames that were left over. I decided it was silly to donate  ANY of the frames.

Spray Paint cheap picture frames

spray paint picture frames I thought I would spray paint some of them, because most of them were black. I carefully removed and cleaned all the glass.

picture frames Several of the frames were gold, so they HAD to be changed.

painted picture frames In that pile you can also see the frame I got recently at a yard sale. I plan to hang it in my bedroom on my wall of frames.

Printed paper or scrapbook paper

I have had these two boxes of “specialized” papers for YEARS! So, I really don’t know how long, but Jamie’s been away from home for 10 years, (4 years of college and now 6 years in Nashville)  and I’m sure I had them while she was still in high school. I rummaged through the papers looking for some that would be fun for dry erase purposes.
It was VERY difficult to take these pictures without a glare. That is why you see a lot of them laying down on this bench.

black framed dry erase board This string wrapped paper reminded me of “tying a string around your finger” to remember something important.

red dry erase board This unique golf paper was too small for this frame, so I used a piece of black cardboard as a mat. Perfect for the golfer in the family.

Fish paper for those aquatic types.

black framed autumn dry erase board This paper is the bulk paper you can buy at any store for your printer. I had some fall paper . . . .

Christmas Dry Erase Message Board . . . and some Christmas paper. I will offer both the Christmas and Fall papers for this frame.
hymnal pages dry erase message board I also tore a page out of one of my vintage hymnals.
Perhaps you noticed that most of these frames are black. I did get some frames painted but have not filled them with “fun” papers yet, stay tuned! Hoping to take these to Glendale Crossing Days next month. I hope they sell. What do you think? Do you think the masses will buy? Or, do you think I will get the dreaded “ohhh cute, I could make that”   Don’t you hate that one! Even when I think it, I don’t say it so a vendor can hear me!

  1. Love it-I just made one myself a few weeks ago & hung it on the fridge. Everyone has said how much they love it. (Hello Christmas presents!)

  2. I did the same sort of thing for the last show I did! (I make hairbows, etc.) It was for a gymnastics meet and their theme was hot pink and black zebra. I did the black frames then put in hot pink w/ light pink zebra scrapbook paper and made my signs using black dry erase marker. Worked GREAT!!! Great minds think alike, eh?

  3. So you just write on a glass- fun idea! I’m actually working hard to find a way to “make” the best dry erase board (they’re expensive!) In my humble opinion, would these sell? For me, it would be too easy to use my frame and paper collection to craft my own. I make things to sell and do buy art and crafts, but I am definitely one of THOSE people that thinks “I can and will make this myself!”

  4. OK… My 1st thought was a new paint?? “Dry erase paint” ?? Like chalkboard paint…:)
You certainly are one clever girl…
    Very cute/clever idea

  5. Oh! They ARE cute! It was hard to picture when you were telling me about them. I may have to make some for myself. Uh, I mean, um…BUY some from you, yeah, that’s what I meant! 😉 lol
Seriously, they will most certainly sell. I’d buy them if I were there, for sure.

  6. Terrific idea! I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this- you know what I did? I painted the underside of the glass and put it back in the frame!~ This would have been so much cuter!

  7. There you go blowing me away again… I LOVE everyone of those… another fabulous idea. I need to scour the dictionary, I am running out of descriptive words for your posts.

Oh I think everyone of those will sell… stop worrying you are going to do well there. I have a good gut feeling.

If your ears are burning this weekend that will be because we are talking about you… lol… wish you could be there with us. Have a great one.

    Hugs, Deb
