You can see pictures from the early years and learn more on my About Me page. This is one of my first projects from way back when.
If you’re new to owning power tools, and can only make one purchase, I suggest a Jigsaw. If you think you’re going to want to make larger projects, go for the Sliding compound miter saw and have the big box store cut your larger sheet goods for you.
This weeks guest was Jeanie Emmert from Create and Babble. Jeanie talks about building a Farmhouse Table that she uses in her fabulous craft room, and a sweet armoire that she built for her granddaughter. Jeanie shares a story about her first experience with a saw, and how she overcame her fear of power tools.
Jeanie has something new she’s working on, and it’s not a building project. Listen to this weeks episode to hear all about Jeanie’s new ebook that will be out this Fall.
Jeanie asked me about my most recent power tool purchase . . .
While talking to Jeanie about headboards, I mentioned how it took me a year to work on this Chalkboard Headboard

Gail: do u have a published list of your recommended power tools?
I cannot find specifics mentioned in your writing. I admire your facility and confidence when using them and am guessing there are features you look for when using them. There are so many variables when considering that I am overwhelmed, even tho I am very handy & have a healthy respect for power tools.

If you have specific questions, I would be happy to answer them for you.
I'm a loyal shopper at The Home Depot, so most of my tools are Ryobi (their house brand) I like having several batteries that interchange in their tools.
I always recommend that if you're just starting and are on a budget, begin with a jigsaw. It will do most anything you need to do with your beginner projects. In addition, you will need a drill (screw gun).
As for actually using power tools, YouTube is the best resource when learning what to do (and what not to do) with a new to you tool.
I'm always here for my friends, just holler!
