If your linen closet has a habit of turning into a tangled mountain of towels, sheets, and mystery toiletries, you are not alone. This quick refresh is all about creating order with simple, budget-friendly Dollar Tree bins and baskets that actually make sense for how you use your space. No fancy built-ins needed. Just easy categories, smart labels, and a few minor tweaks that help your closet stay neat longer than a day.
This linen closet organization project was a long time coming! Would you believe it took me nearly a month to complete this bathroom organization task? You know how many people “turn over a new leaf” in January? We make resolutions and start purging. A friend told me about a challenge, and I jumped in with both feet! Did you know that I’ve been in this house for 50 years? A person can collect a lot of STUFF in that amount of time. I’ve been playing a game with friends.
I’m embarrassed to tell you that I’ve spent all month getting rid of my bathroom items! I’m starting again this month, concentrating on the kitchen.
Dollar Tree Baskets

On with today’s Dollar Store Design Squad challenge! Storage solutions can be so expensive. Many stores had cute baskets on sale this month as everyone gets organized. BUT! I needed a lot of baskets and storage options, so I headed to the Dollar Tree. Actually, I went to three different Dollar Tree stores to see what I could find.

An assortment of Basket Storage Options

Since I didn’t really know what I’d need, I bought a random selection of baskets, bins, and totes from Dollar Tree Stores. Keep in mind, each of these items was one dollar. The exception, of course, is the two and 3-pack small baskets. This pile of baskets and bins would have cost me a fortune at a department store. As you can see, it’s pretty easy to collect items for your dollar store closet organization.
Linen Closet Chaos

When this photo was taken, I had already tossed (or donated) over 40 items. I am blessed with a lot of storage space, more than one person needs. The more room a person has, the more junk they may collect.
Using Dollar Store Baskets in the Linen Closet

Can you believe this is the same space? I really love the assorted bins I purchased. Each has its own purpose. After a month of decluttering and purging, I feel so much better!
How to Secure Shelf Liner

First, I cleaned the shelves so I could put in the shelf liner. Because it’s just a lay-in liner, I used double-sided tape to hold it in place. Small pieces were placed all over the shelf, then the liner was applied.
Real-life Linen Closet

Keeping it real, folks! This is real life—random towels and linens. Not visible in this photo, the plastic drawer systems could be replaced. Years ago, I read about keeping pajamas and undies in the bathroom. Since I have the room, that’s where I keep them. Makes it so handy when I jump in the shower.

I’m so happy this bathroom linen closet organization project is complete! The dollar store is the perfect option to get your closet organized on a budget. Now, it’s on to the kitchen, starting today.
Because I didn’t have room for large cleaning items, I made a Between the Studs Broom Closet in the bathroom.

$$ Tree Basket Storage for the Linen Closet

A tidy linen closet is one of those small wins that make everyday life feel smoother. With a few Dollar Tree organizers and a simple system, you can turn a chaotic shelf situation into something you can actually maintain. If you try this at home, pin it for later and share your results. I love seeing how you make these ideas work in your own spaces.

I am so proud of you!!! Doesn’t it feel better?!?!?!
I does feel so much better! I think I’m turning over a new leaf. I’ve been able to keep my bedroom tidy for the last year-ever since my closet redo. I guess if you have a PLACE to put stuff, you can actually put it away! 🙂
I appreciate your kind comment!

that looks awesome! those bins are really helpful. i have been sorting & purging; most donations are going to the Hosparus thrift store.
Doesn’t it feel wonderful to be free of stuff you didn’t need, but was still in the closet. It looks great. I envy the space. My linen closet is 2 ft wide. Because my little grand is with me every day, I’d have flipped the towels and chemicals. He is a master at getting everywhere. I have baby latches and gates all over the house.
ohhh, how great it’s feeling. This closet definitely got out of hand. That happens when you have space, it gets used up.
Great idea for the switcheroo of towels and chemicals. 🙂
