This easy repurposed spool coffee station project is something you can do this weekend. #coffee #station #organization via @repurposedlife

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I know this is a busy day for everyone, but when the festivities start winding to a close and you have a few minutes to sit down and relax with a hot cup of coffee, cocoa or tea, I'm here to share a new project that may be just the thing you need!

For those who might be new here, I'm Angie and my blog is Knick of Time. I'm back this month to share how I turned a small wooden cable spool into a coffee station.

I'm the only non-coffee drinker in my family of 6, and the coffee paraphernalia is starting to take over my kitchen counter top. I have very little counter space is it is, so I finally found a way to condense the mugs, K-cups, creamer and sugar into a coffee station that fits in the small space I have.

I've had this wooden cable spool for several years. I picked it up for just a few dollars, and have been saving it until I figured out the perfect project for it. All of the wooden cable spools I've ever seen are big, like the one I used to create a farmhouse table, but this spool is really small. It stands only 9-½" tall, and the round parts are 10-½" in diameter, so it is just the right size.

Even if you can't find a small cable spool like this one, this would still be a super easy project to assemble with 2 wood rounds (available at most craft stores), and a fat wooden spindle (I've repurposed old bed posts to use as spindles).

And if you aren't a coffee drinker, this could easily work as a hot cocoa or tea station as well.

First, I screwed cup hooks around the top wood piece to hang cups on. Just space them evenly apart, and make sure to distance them far enough so the mugs each have room to hang freely.

The circle is big enough to hold six mugs.

An old wire fryer basket is large enough to hold a bunch of K-cups.

I positioned the basket at the back of the top round piece, so there would be some space in front of the basket.

In that space I put 2 half-pint canning jars filled with powdered creamer and sugar.

There's still more room under the mugs, where more K-cups can fit on the base.

It took me less than 15 minutes to  turn the wooden spool into this space saving coffee station. I love a project that doesn't take hours and lots of tools to complete!

    Until next month...

I think this is ADORABLE! I've been frustrated with our cluttered coffee station and this is a glorious solution! I just ordered a wooden spool from Home Depot for $13 + $5.99 shipping. The dimensions are a little larger than yours but will work perfectly! Thank you, thank you!

Hey, I came over from the Clutter Clean Up Link up party. I love the cable spool idea as a coffee station. We have a vintage warehouse where I live and I am definitely going to be on the look out for something like that. Thank you for sharing.

Merry Christmas Angie!!! Cute idea, I also like that you gave options for diy-I got this if we didn't have our own cute spool! What a neat repurpose! It would be great with a spinny-thing, too (that's technical jargon for lazy Susan) ha ha!
      Merry Christmas Gail!
