What is a coffee table set? It's generally a low table that some people may call a cocktail table. What makes it a set? It becomes a set when there are matching end tables.
When someone offers you free furniture, you don't say no. In this article, you will see many tips, including easy painting tips to give your coffee table set an easy makeover.
Free Large Coffee Table
Yes, this coffee table and two matching end tables were no longer needed, and I was the lucky recipient.

Matching End Tables
The wooden furniture was in decent shape, but their owner no longer needed them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that no repairs were required for this coffee table set. So, I gave them a little makeover. Did I paint them? Of course, I did.
Sand Table Tops
To get the best paint finish, begin by sanding the table tops and removing sanding debris with a tack cloth or something similar. Minor nicks and scratches will show through the paint. Furthermore, you do not want dust mixed in with your paint.

Dull Furniture Shine Before Painting
Getting paint to adhere to a dirty, shiny table is difficult. I prefer using HTP Surface Prep.

You brush it on, scrub it if necessary, and wipe it off. It will clean your furniture flipping project and ready it for painting.
Paint Roller For Furniture Flipping
Who doesn't want to work smarter, not harder? A small foam paint roller will complete this coffee table set quickly. However, I keep a small flat paintbrush handy for detail work and touch-ups.
Paint Several Projects at a Time
It doesn't take any longer if you throw in a second or even a third project, especially if you get creative with your workspace. Because I could straddle the coffee table between the two work tables, I could keep everything at a comfortable height for painting.
The drawer knobs were painted. You can see them resting in the corners of a drawer.
On the left is a large mirror, and the small table on the right can be seen in the article "How to Prep Furniture for Painting."
Flawless Paint Finish
Do you love the color? It is Iron Gate from Heirloom Traditions Paint. The coffee table set and the other two projects were completed in one afternoon. Can you see how the smooth paint finish is?
You may wonder how many coats are needed for this flawless finish. I generally do 2.5 coats of paint. That translates to two full (light) coats and a quick touch-up of any required area.
There are no pretty staged pictures because this coffee table set was rehomed immediately to a young couple in need as they were moving out on their own. They were pleased to be the recipient of my handiwork.

The color & finish is gorgeous.

I love how easy this paint is to apply and leaves such a great finish. However, I do miss using my chalky paint primer (latex paint). It's so much more affordable.
