I love my readers, they give such great advice! Check out what Sarah said when I first posted this faux clock:

Gail strikes again! This is amazing! I know you took the round top off the table but if it were me, Id put it back on, cut down the table legs and make it into a coffee table…but that’s just me b/c I’m in the mood for wanting a round coffee table ๐ Or it could be an outdoor clock like for a pool area (as long as it were under a covering) I cant wait to see what you do with it.

What Sarah didn’t know was I had already given the table base a new top, and it had already found a new home. But!
Do you remember these legs that I found when I cleaned out the shed?
Look what happens when I put the table top on them!
Yep, I like how it’s looking! I think it’s a perfect fit.
I painted the legs with 2 coats of primer, and then did a dark walnut stain as a glaze. Is that cheating? Going right from primer to stain? I didn’t see any sense in putting semi-gloss or gloss paint on and then staining over that.
The legs are a rectangular shape. In this picture the table faces the narrow side.
A different angle.
In this picture the table faces the wider side of the legs. Miss Mustard Seed would be pleased to know that this clock “spoke” to me and told me it wanted to be a table again. Well that and my friend Sarah’s words were still sloshing around in the ole’ brain. I sealed the top with several coats of polycrylic. Sometimes it takes me weeks to totally finish a project. As of now, the hardware to hang this is still on the back. I thought maybe it would sell easier if it were a table. But if someone chooses to remove it from the legs, it’s alright with me.

I used a similar technique on a faux pocket watch, you can see here.

Stunning! The finished project made me gasp it’s so lovely. What brand of polyacrylic do you recommend?
So beautiful. It’s definitely a favorite. So stylish and gorgeous!
Great table- Gail.
So what it takes you weeks to finish a project… I think it sat around waiting for those legs to become a table again… Perfect ‘TIMING’ !!!
Gail that top just goes so well with the legs it looks like they were made to go together. I much prefer it as a table, it’s great!
Loving it as a table…great job. I loved it as a clock too… I love when things can do double duty.
Hugs, Deb

Oh Gail, That looks sooooo good! Are you sure you can’t fit it into your own living room?
I would have such a hard time parting with that…..

I am in love with this! This is a great job and very creative. I would not be surprised to see that this ends up within a magazine somewhere with your name on it!
