I love all of the Finish Max products, but for big projects, the Homeright Finish Max Pro is the best option. It’s more lightweight because the motor is separate of the spray gun. My niece Leann and I made a deal. I needed some old fence boards for my Etsy shop, and she wanted a new fence. I got a great deal on some new boards, and she is carefully taking down the old boards and saving them for me. Then the nice folks at Thompson’s WaterSeal offered me a chance to try out their new waterproofing stains. They have 5 colors and each come in

  • Transparent (Provides complete outdoor wood protection by adding subtle color)
  • Semi (Adds beautiful color while still allowing some wood grain to be seen)
  • Solid (Hides the wood grain while allowing wood texture to show)

fence-beforeSo, off I went with my HomeRight Finish Max Pro to tackle Leann’s fence. I don’t remember exactly how many sections of fence she has, but she’s been slowly replacing the boards whenever she gets the time. I of course love the look of the perfectly weathered gray boards.

thompsons-waterseal-finish-max-proLeann chose Acorn, in the Transparent finish. I have my trusty Finish Max Pro all ready to make this job a breeze! It’s great for all paints and stains, but because the Thompson’s WaterSeal is water based, it sprayed great and cleanup was easy too!

spray-fence-finish-max-proUsing an extension cord, the power cord and the hose on the Finish Max Pro allows me to reach all the way down the front sections of fence. I started on the left and worked toward the right. Leann chose not to replace the 2×4 cross boards, and I like the way the Thompson’s WaterSeal helps all the boards match better, even using the Transparent option.

thompsons-waterseal-stain finish-max-pro-thompsons-watersealLeann got in on the action too! She chose to do the wide horizontal spray option for the vertical boards, then spin the nozzle around to do get a vertical spray to do the cross boards. The Finish Max products all have an adjustment that will spray a pattern from 1-6”.

paintbrush-handy-for-dripsI keep a chip brush in my Finish Max bag—it really comes in handy if I have drips. I just kept it in a tub of water and shook it out if we got too close to the fence and got a run. The Thompson’s WaterSeal is a great consistency for spraying. It does say “do not thin”.

Homeright-Finish-Max-Pro-stain-fenceLook how great the fence looks, and how there is very little stain on the grass! That’s my favorite part about the Finish Max products, so little over spray! TIP:  The Finish Max Pro comes with two paint cups. We tag teamed this job. While someone was spraying, someone else was filling up the empty cup with stain. It really was a time saver!

  1. This would be so great to have to stain the deck and a some furniture that’s waiting in the garage. Painting kills my wrist and have been delaying some projects.

  2. I live on a farm and there is always something to paint or stain. We do it every summer and sometimes it can get to be a pretty big job with the heat and humidity of the midwest.

  3. My wood fence was painted two years ago just before we moved in without any prep and everything is peeling off now. I would love to redo the fence the right way, and the outside of my trailer. But we are seniors and I fear it will not happen without a tool like this.

  4. With a brand new baby in our house the Max Pro would make my life a whole lot easier this summer. We need to get our fence, raised garden beds, ramp to our shed and back porch steps stained ASAP. How quickly this would make the job go 🙂

  5. I have a privacy fence that i need to keep up with and also a full patio wood set that needs some serious help. I like to buy things i can refurbish. The homeright max pro would help me so much in all the projects that lie ahead.

  6. We have 18 shutters to paint on an old 1900’s farm house (along with a to-do list miles long) and after completing just 2 of them my husband has given up! We need a sprayer to help us finish the job we have started! There are so many books and crannies for a paint brush to find! A sprayer would be a huge help! Thank you!

  7. I have a several pieces of furniture I have to paint this summer…and I NEED this jewel to do them all. I don’t just want color in my home I need the furniture to look BEAUTIFUL when they are done…and having followed you so long I know this is the tool I need to accomplice this. 🙂 Thank you Gail and HomeRight for another chance to win this.

  8. Love seeing all the different projects you are able to achieve. Would really like to stain my deck so we can have more family time at home.

  9. Would love to paint & stain everything so easily! At least compared to painting by hand. After following you for so long, I feel like I could use the Max Pro with my eyes closed…but where would be the fun in that?
The fence looks great. I have two huge raised garden beds that could use a organic stain and I’m thinking the HomeRight would be perfect for that.
