How to make candlestick from repurposed bedposts
In between building larger projects, I love to tinker around with small bits and pieces! I had some small parts left over when I made my Pedestal Plant Stands.
I trimmed them up, and used some scrap 1×4’s to cut down into nice little squares. I routed the edges.
I drilled a pilot hole in the base and the candlestick, then screwed the screw into the base. I put the candlestick onto the screw and turned the candlestick until the base was secure.
I stained the bases with a combination of Jacobean and Mahogany to get a good match to the original color of the bed parts.
It’s hard for me to choose a favorite.
These are the ones I put together with bases.
These are random parts without bases, too easy! I suppose you could set a candle right on the top, or use a cute little holder similar to one of these:

What a nice recycling idea! very useful home decor as well. ๐
Short and sweet! Love them ๐
Those candle holders are such a great filler for any room. I wish I had your talent to router and saw stuff so I could have a stash of them! I can see them sprayed one color like what is in the last photo as well. I don’t hoard too much wood, but fabric? Yeah, call the show I might need some intervention.
I’m a hoarder Gail! I hoard every little scrap I get, Lol!
What an awesome idea. I think I have a few pieces that look like this in my basement. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day!

Howdy Gaily Gail, SO happy to see a post from you. I know that you survived the storms but I was worried about ya : ) Also, loving the new look of the page. Very pretty. As for the post, I see some new candlesticks in my future. Since I’ve only made one headboard bench I only have 2 sticks in the garage. I DID save em though( like I do everything else, lol).

i love these! they would make great hostess gifts, too!
Super cute…great idea for those odds and end pieces!
I keep saying I’ll try this someday so I never throw away the pieces. right about now I could make a WHOLE LOT of these with all my parts! ๐
Fabulous Gail!!!
Dear Gail,
I just love this idea…and your blog as well, by the way! You have been very inspiring to me in so many ways! We’re currently working on our kitchen (on a very limited budget) and you’ve given me some great ideas! I had a question about these candlesticks…do you put some kind of “nail” or something in the top to stick the candle onto so that it won’t fall off? Just wondering…
Thanks so much!
Have a wonderful day,
Laura
You are so creative,I love these. I do keep bits and pieces, just in case.

This is such a great idea.
With chunky candles the posts look as though they were made for the job!
We are terrible for keeping hold of every piece of wood, you just never know when it will come in handy! Anything we know we really won’t use, gets given to a family friend for his fire wood!
Even metal things, if we don’t have a use, goes to the scrap yard, I don’t think there is much that is actually ever thrown away!
