I have such an Easy Plastic Frame Makeover for this month’s Thrift Store Décor Makeover-it happens the second Wednesday every month! I love it because it makes me step away from the saw and the drill.
Plastic thrift store picture frame
This seriously IS the ugliest brown <plastic> frame EVER! But, it was only $2 from Joey’s booth at Vendors’ Village.

Paint plastic frame
I think it’s a pretty frame, it’s just that shade of brown is so sad looking. If you’re loving the brown, sorry!
I used a batch of my diy chalky paint primer in Polished Pearl on a white day. I tend to have “black” days and “white” days, where I’ll just grab random items if I still have paint in my cup. This day there were FIVE white projects in the works using my Homeright Finish Max.
Optional: add wax
I used some clear wax, and then just a smidgeon of Dark Umber wax from Heirloom Traditions Paint to make the details stand out a little.
That’s it! I’m calling it d.o.n.e. And guess what?
I put it in my booth (#303 at Vendors’ Village in Louisville KY) and it sold the very next day for $12. I had decided that if it didn’t sell empty, I would bring it home and put a chalkboard in it. Lucky me!
Did you find it?
Would you be happy with a $10 ROI for a cheap $2 frame? Do you think it needed a little change of color?

Gorgeous! LOVE that paint sprayer!
Me too! So easy, and the Finish Max gives such an awesome smooth finish. 🙂
Nice paint job Gail–like you always do!

i LOVE what you did with this frame. i am constantly looking at, sometimes buying picture frames at the thrift store. the Hosparus Thrift Shoppe has them all the time for 50 cents up to $4.00…
That was a steal, would never guess it was plastic, great job!
That was a fast sell! I love painting old frames and I love my HomeRight Finish Max!
I’ve got a couple of very similar frames but they are wood, which doesn’t help their paint job any, they are a gold color. My daughter has them empty leaning on a shelf. Adding ‘quick frame repainting’ to my to do list before company arrives.
