Hi Everyone! I’m Susan from Homeroad and I am the Guest Blogger today at
My Repurposed Life.

Susan from Homeroad

I am so glad Gail gave me this opportunity to introduce myself and do a project for you today

My favorite thing to do over at Homeroad is to create with junk. I find things on the side-of-the-road or in thrift stores and I repurpose them into something new.

Today I am using one of the parts of an upright piano I found on the side of the road and I’m turning it into a wall mantel….

I knew this piece had potential right away…

This is the piece that comes down over the keys… it already had 2 knobs on it and a long “piano” hinge. I secured the hinge so the pieces wouldn’t move, then added a block to the back so the mantel would stand out from the wall…

The paint is Annie Sloan chalk paint in Versailles, it is a pale green color and was brought to life even more with a finishing coat of dark wax.

A vintage metal handle adds a little bling to the center. The result is a beautiful 6′ mantel to hang on the wall.

The way the pieces came together at the top created the perfect channel for plate display…

This would look beautiful in a kitchen or dining room as added mantel display.

Thanks so much for having me today Gail! I’d love it if you would stop by
Homeroad and see what else I’ve been working on.

Homeroad also has an Etsy shop where I sell many of my up-cycled projects.

Come on by…

There are a few other parts of this piano in the works!

Thank you Susan for a great repurposed project! It’s been a long time since I’ve curbed anything, let alone a PIANO. I can’t wait to see what else you do with the other parts of this piano.
