I love using my HomeRight Finish Max fine finish sprayer. What does that mean exactly? Well, for me it means that I get a great paint job easily in any color I want. But the nice folks at HomeRight.com can explain it a lot better.
From their site:
This Fine Finish HVLP sprayer means that it has a high–volume, low-pressure, and this technology uses a high-volume of air at a low-pressure to apply a professional looking finish. The low pressure assures less overspray. This equates to a sprayer that will direct the finish where you want it — on your project. Precision volume control and adjustable sprayer patterns mean the Finish Max provides a smooth, even finish on projects such as; cabinets, furniture and woodworking projects. Use this Fine Finish Sprayer with paint, chalk paint, clear sealer, polyurethane, primer, stain and varnish.
Yeah… like they said, a great finish, like you’re use to getting from spray paint. But there are benefits to using a spray paint alternative.
10 Reasons to use a Finish Max as a spray paint alternative
- You can match other accessories in your room, by using the same paint you’ve used on your walls.
- You can get several different sheens from the same paint (by using DIY Chalk Paint, and any number of sealants, like wax, poly, and more.
- The clean up of latex is soap and water. Have you TRIED to get spray paint off of your hands?
- You don’t have to figure out how to recycle empty paint spray cans.
- It’s a much cheaper alternative to spray paint.
- Any item that can be spray painted, can get the Finish Max treatment
- Less odor! Spray paint is smelly!
- If your paint and your project are warmed in the sun, you can use your Finish Max at lower air temperatures than you can spray paint.
- A Finish Max will cover more square footage in less time.
- You won’t end up with an impression of a button on your finger.
Granted—there are still small items that will be spray painted, but larger items, or when I have a LOT of stuff—my Finish Max will get a workout.
I had been saving these frames with some other small items. I bought them for the night classes I was teaching. These are a typical “spray paint project”, definitely not something you would want to paint by hand.

I gathered up what I needed for this quickie project. I already had some DIY chalky paint mixed up, so I strained it into my paint cup, and got started spraying with my HomeRight Finish Max .

I sprayed the back of the frames first, then 2 light coats of the chalky paint on the front. It seriously doesn’t get any easier than this.

Are you an impatient crafter? Lately, I’ve used my hair dryer twice to speed up the drying process of my projects. This quickie chalkboard project was one of those times.

TIP: Did you know you can use this chalkboard paint in your paint sprayer? I used it on several chalkboards and the finish was soooo smooth!
Those who are gold lovers out there might be sad that I painted these small frames, but I love their new look.
