It’s time for our bi-monthly Dollar Store Design Squad project! I’m so ready for Spring, that I decided to do a tabletop fairy garden using dollar store items.

Be sure to check out Debbie and Jocie’s adorable projects at the bottom of this post.

Materials to make a small table top fairy garden

    • 1 Small bunch of flowers
    • Random Fairy Garden pieces
    • River Rocks
    • Small terrarium bow
    • Picket fence (on hand)
    • Potting soil (on hand)

Also pictured are some moss balls, but I ended up not using them.

A picket fence or similar accessory adds character

Silk flowers, succulents are great additions

cut flower stems with wire cutters

The flower stems are easily snipped with the wire cutters.

It’s fun to arrange the items over and over until you get them must as you like. I chose the gnomes and small animals instead of actual fairies for my tabletop fairy garden.

The small terrarium bowl is plastic. You could also use a fish bowl or even some thrift store glassware. If your bowl is large enough, you could add succulents, real or faux. This is the first time I’ve made a fairy garden, but every time I look at it, it makes me smile. Those small river rocks are great for other craft projects. I used them to hold the greenery in my Repurposed Lamp Plant Stands.

Thank you so much! Sadly the podcast is no longer being published. I had hoped to continue with a partner to make it more interesting, but never found someone willing to take on all that work. I truly miss recording it each week. Enjoy the remaining episodes, I hope you find them helpful.

I wanted to try but not invest a lot. I found almost everything at the dollar store. Your right just looking at it puts a smile on your face. I used the water collection tray from a large terra cotta pot

That's awesome Gail! Sometimes we just need to play in some dirt, right?
