I was cleaning out the garage this past week and came across the old top to my kitchen island. As I was taking the boards apart I knew it was the perfect specimen for an oversized stepstool for the bedroom closet. After one board was removed, it was the perfect size to make a…

Pallet Board Table – Sofa Table – Coffee Bar – Outdoor Serving Bar
It’s time for the Power Tool Challenge project for May. This month’s theme is Pallets. I used pallet boards to make a table, but actually staged/styled it as a coffee station or coffee bar. It’s sofa table height, and you could easily make it to be a kitchen island or outdoor serving station. The possibilities are endless with this type of pallet board table!
Kitchen Island Table Top and More
My old kitchen island/craft station had seen better days. With the sprucing up of the kitchen it was time for an update. I painted it again, but today I’m going to show you how I added a new (larger) top and removed the small curtain and replaced it with a much better option. I used a reclaimed window to make a small door.
salvaged wood outdoor bar | kitchen island
I’m so excited to show you this outdoor bar I made from reclaimed wood. It would also make a great kitchen island or maybe even a potting bench. How to make an easy outdoor bar I still have a lot of this salvaged wood stored in a woodshed. (this picture is of the wood when…
Craft Station made from kitchen cabinet
I’m going to show you step by step how to make a craft station that doubles as a kitchen island out of an old cabinet.
Catch as Catch Can 173
EDITED to add: Catch as Catch Can will be on vacation next week due to Blogapalooza 2014. It’s been a whirlwind week since arriving home Sunday night from Atlanta. Monday was catch-up day with 10 Etsy orders. I wanted to get them all done right away because a cool front was arriving, and I wanted…
black kitchen island (update)
I know, this is a desk, not a kitchen island. At least it WAS a desk before I changed it up. I built a new island/craft station for my kitchen about 18 months ago. I decided to paint it a couple of weeks ago. Why does it take…
DIY Kitchen Island (top)
I’ve had this jig for a few months now. I love the things I can do with it. You saw that I used it yesterday to attach the desk to the base to make my kitchen island. The first thing I do is set the drill bit to the proper depth. That little collar…
Kitchen Island made from Desk
Let’s revisit yesterday’s post about building a kitchen island from a desk. I took the desk from jamie’s room. I added a little of this and that. Used some fabulous Gorilla Wood Glue to glue some luan on top of the ugly OSB. Put it all on some casters. I added a little trim here…
DIY Kitchen Island
I made a kitchen island. It is going to be multipurpose. It is almost bar height. Most of the year it will be my “craft” station in the kitchen, hopefully keeping me a little more organized. This is not a teaser post (like some people I know). The island/bar/craft center is not finished. I hope…
